Agent Carter Fandom Thoughts

Happy Sunday!

I don't know why I've been thinking the Agent Carter TV series but it was such a good show. One of the best that unfortunately never really found an audience and eventually got cancelled. Maybe I'll give it a rewatch.

There is one thing I will never stop saying and that's Avengers: Endgame totally ruined the amazing and wonderfully developing love story between Margaret "Peggy" Carter and Daniel Sousa. All so that Steve Rogers could go back in time just to be with Peggy. And not to mention that Daniel ended up in the future (our present time) on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and ended up in a relationship with Daisy Johnson. Peggy and Daniel should have gotten their happy ending together.

I don't know, this show has just been on my mind lately.

What's something about the Agent Carter TV Series that you really liked?

Lately, I've been thinking of rewatching Agent Carter. It's really been a while since I've seen the show. For anyone who has watched the show, what's something you really liked about the TV series?

I liked that throughout the two seasons, the show gave viewers a chance to see Peggy Carter grow as a character and at the same time show why she's so amazing. Peggy was so much more than Steve Rogers former love interest but I did like that in the second season, she had several chances for love. And she ultimately found something new with Daniel Sousa.

The only thing I didn't like is that the second season ended on a cliffhanger and that's only because the show was unfortunately cancelled. I really wished more people had watched Agent Carter. Total side note, I'm still disappointed that the MCU ruined her story by having her end up with Steve. I guess I just love that she had moved on from Steve and I also loved her chemistry and connection with Daniel.

Art of the Day: Daniel Sousa and Peggy Carter

It's still disappointing that the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) ruined Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa's romance. Especially since she had moved on from mourning Steve Rogers and was happily starting a new relationship with Daniel. But then Endgame had Steve go back in time to be with Peggy which ruined the Peggy/Sousa relationship. I guess Marvel wanted to continue that by pairing up Daniel and Daisy Johnson together on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm still a big fan of Peggy and Daniel being together, they had amazing chemistry. And if Agent Carter had not been cancelled, I would have loved to see how they balanced their relationship while working all the strange cases for S.H.I.E.L.D. Which is why I will continue to ignore what Avengers: Endgame and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did to end Daniel and Peggy newly established relationship.

I'm Still Disappointed that Steve Rogers ended up with Peggy Carter in "Avengers: Endgame"

I know with the current state of the country and the world, I know it's ridiculous to still feel annoyed that in Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers abandoned his life and friends in the present to go back into the past for Margaret "Peggy" Carter. And not to mention, Steve going back into the past ruined Peggy's story because she had definitely moved on and had lived a fulfilling life. However, Steve going back and changing Peggy's life was a terrible thing to do simply because in this movie he couldn't move on. Steve treated Peggy as if she was some prize that he won at the end of the fight.

Art of the Day: Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa

I wish Agent Carter had gotten a third season because I would have loved to see what was next for Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa. Season 1 hinted at a little bit of romantic interest from Daniel towards Peggy but she was not quite ready for romance. She was still a little brokenhearted over Steve Rogers.

However, in the second season and in a much sunnier locale she seemed to be ready for a little romance which included a bit of flirting with Dr. Jason Wilkes. However in the end, her and Daniel realized that there was something growing between them and it would have been interesting to see what this dynamic duo would have gotten up to in the third season if the show had gotten renewed.

Why Peggy Carter Inspires Me

If Agent Margaret "Peggy" Carter had a superpower it would be confidence because she seems to have buckets full of it. She may have started out in the comic books as a minor character but thanks to the movie Captain America: The First Avenger and the Agent Carter TV series, she was turned into a steadfast, courageous and endearing person who fights for the greater good.

I consider her to be the epitome of confident which she definitely needed because she was making her way in a world that was extremely sexist among other things. During that time, society believed women (and people of color) were only able to do menial tasks but Peggy wasn't one to stand back and accept those limitations. She took chances even when her actions would most certainly be frowned upon. What I like is that she kicked down the door, literally and figuratively and proved to herself what she was capable of. She doesn't seek out nor need anyone's approval because the important thing is she believes in herself even when she is constantly treated poorly in a sexist society.

Despite being able to take down multiple assailants and put together effective plans, Peggy's greatest strength is her confidence. When the world continued to beat down on her for simply being a woman she never gave up. She believed she could do something and she didn't let anyone get in her way of pursuing it.

There are times when my confidence is down but then I think of Peggy Carter and it helps inspire me to regain confidence in myself. I never understood why someone would find it ridiculous to be inspired by characters. Because inspiration can come from anywhere and not just in real life.

Fashion Meets Comics: Peggy Carter

I was struck with an inspiration to create a Fashion Meets Comics for Peggy Carter. Her military suit was my focus but I didn't want to recreate it. Instead I was looking to create a summer outfit that still had that military feel.

For this easy summer outfit, I went with a graphic tee and paired it with a cute skirt. Thankfully Her Universe already had an Agent Carter SSR t-shirt which made it easier to put together this Peggy inspired look. Next, I found a cargo skirt and a pair of flip flops that are casual yet give off a tough sophistication.

I really like this look and I would really like to know what you think of it too.

Art of the Day: Agent Carter

I've always wondered why Marvel didn't continue the Agent Carter series as an ongoing comic book series. That was a missed opportunity not to capitalize on the popularity of the TV series. And after the show was cancelled it seemed like Marvel would have done something with all that fan interest in Peggy Carter. Instead it seems that they just let the interest fade away.

365 Days of Books of Interest: Day #236: Captain America: Peggy Carter, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

You don't know how much I regret not picking up this special Peggy Carter comic back when it was published. It was $7.99 and I was trying to save a few dollars from my already large group of comic books that I had picked up from the comic book store.

Although I can no longer find this in print, I still have a chance to read it in the digital edition. Unfortunately, it still cost the same but hey at least I will be able to read it.

Agent Carter Cancelled, Say It Isn't So!

ABC must have been undergoing a late Spring Cleaning to have cancelled so many shows, one of my favorites in particular, Agent Carter.

I still find it hard to believe ABC cancelled Agent Carter, I guess you win some and lose some. But Agent Carter is a big loss. Especially since the show was very well written, the acting was strong and had an exciting story to tell.

Would you like to know why I loved watching Agent Carter? Margaret "Peggy" Carter represented strength, independence and knowing ones self-worth. Peggy didn't have any superpowers yet she didn't hesitate to go out there day after day working in a very dangerous job. She didn't do her job looking for praise from her higher ups that was not who she was (and during those times she certainly wasn't going to get them). Peggy was confident in her intelligence, her abilities and knowing that she could protect herself.

One thing for certain, Peggy loved her job. Even when she was treated unfairly, she brought her A game to everything she did. I can not fathom the reason why Agent Carter wasn't renewed for one more season. A third season could have tied up everything, such as the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Despite being sad that Agent Carter has been cancelled, I'm happy that Hayley Atwell will have a new series "Conviction" which will also air on ABC.

Now, I will patiently wait for the DVD/Blu-ray of season two of Agent Carter. Oh, and a kindly reminder to Agent Carter fans, remember to "Do As Peggy Says".

So far there is still no word on whether Agent Carter will be returning for a third season. I hope so, Peggy Carter deserves one more season to tie up everything.

Fashion Meets Comics: Peggy Carter (Agent Carter Season 2)

1940s Hollywood seemed to have brought out a more softer side to Peggy Carter's wardrobe. During the second season of Agent Carter, she wore less structured and more colorful pieces.

For this Fashion Meets Comics, I did not want to pick anything that looked like a costume. I wanted to be inspired by some of Peggy's outfits instead of trying to duplicate them. Something I found interesting about Peggy's 2nd season wardrobe, the stylist did a good job of incorporating many of the trends with the classic styles of that era.

But I found that no matter what she is wearing, it's her confidence that shines through.

Art Find: Hollywood Land of Dreams canvas art

Isn't this beautiful? I love everything about it, from all the color (it definitely pops) to the Hollywood sign reflecting in her sunglasses.
