Lois Lane Friday: DC Comics, Where Is the Official Lois Lane Merchandise?

For a character that has been around for 77 years why does Lois Lane have such a minimal amount of official merchandise? Love her or hate her, Lois Lane is an iconic character and yet DC Comics continues to ignore fans clamoring for more Lois merchandise.

Why is there no Lois Lane T-shirts, tote bags, Funko dolls, etc. found in stores? Just do a quick search on the DC Comics official store website and see the small amount of items available for her. There are some Lois DC Comics licensed products available on Zazzle (zazzle.com) but the products are average with most items showcasing old and out of date images for the character.

When Man of Steel was released in 2013, there was a large number of merchandise for the film but hardly any of it featured Lois Lane. So, it was surprising that there was actually a Lego figure created for her.

My feelings aside for that movie, it was truly a highly anticipated film that received a lot of publicity. DC Comics and Warner Bros. created a good marketing plan to get that movie promoted yet they some how dropped the ball in creating promotional products for Lois who was one of the main characters in the movie. Why was there no Lois action figure? Um, yet Jor-El got one. There was also no Funko Man of Steel: Lois Lane, yet General Zod got one. The point I'm trying to make is they went through all the effort to make and license these products but didn't bother to think about creating any for Lois.

At least with the release of Superman Returns (2006) there was a DC Comics prequel comic book miniseries with Lois headlining one out of the four issues and a special Lois Lane Barbie doll was also created.

There also wasn't any merchandise that coincided with this year's release of the book Lois Lane: Fallout by Gwenda Bond. This book was released early due to high demand, now that's saying something doesn't it. Now with a sequel scheduled to be published next year, do you think DC Comics will have any products available for it?

Another item that was released ahead of schedule is the DC Comics Bombshells Lois Lane Statue (see below). It was tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of the month but has been released early yet again due to the high demand. Doesn't it stand to reckon, if there is such a demand for a $124.99 statue that fans are willing to purchase more quality items that feature Lois Lane?

I find it funny that there is not a lot of official items available for Lois but there is quite a bit of unofficial stuff out there. I guess fans are tired of waiting for DC Comics and have created their own.

For a character of Lois Lane's stature shouldn't more merchandise be available to fans?
