Review:

This isn't bad, the stories are solid if not on the generic sci-fi side yet they were still a decent read. However, I did find at times while reading this that it felt like parts of some of the stories were taken place somewhere off page leaving me feeling as if I were out of the loop.

In these stories, Rampage Jackson who uses his wolf like superpowers to fight crime and help those in need. Somehow Rampage acquired wolf like powers from a meteorite and became a superhero but not one out of the seven stories bothered to really explain how. A backstory of how he got his powers would have added something more to this. It had me wondering did a meteorite fall out of the sky and land on him or did he accidentally pick up a piece of meteorite while walking his dog Andronicus? Who knows? It's as if they applied the Smallville Meteor Freak approach for Rampage and some of his villains. It's been alluded to that Catalysm, the shadowy organization in this book, may have used a portal device to bring the meteors to Earth but yet again the writing doesn't go any further into details.

When he's not working on his own, Rampage works with two other people, Kim and Will but they were mainly there for intel and support. In some of the stories: Rampage was trying to stop a mad scientist who experimented on underground MMA fighters, he fought subterranean beings who were attacking a subway train and he also found himself transported to the future to help out one of his future descendants.

The writing ranged from good to average with some cringe worthy dialogue thrown in at times. It did feature some good action scenes and it had good artwork. Since this is an ongoing series I hope the second volume will introduce a backstory for Rampage and add a bit more depth to both his character and the stories. It would also be nice if they made sure the stories have a slight connection other wise it just seems like random stories thrown into a book.
