There is a reason why Tim Drake is referred to as being smart. For one thing he was able to figure out that Bruce Wayne was Batman and that Dick Grayson had been Robin. Not many people in the DC Comics universe have been able to do that. Despite being a kid, Tim's detective skills were pretty good.
I like that he was so concerned for Batman who had become reckless following the death of Robin (Jason Todd) that he tried to convince Dick to go back to being Robin. There was no reason for Dick to return to his old position, instead the situation made it possible for Tim to have the opportunity of becoming Batman's sidekick.
