Review:
A year ago, I decided to go cruelty free as well as try to green up as many of my beauty products as I could. Since, I'm always looking for more information, I wanted to give this book a read.
I found this to be a very informative book especially with the author focusing on many of the chemicals and toxins that we should try to avoid and the importance of reading product labels to see what's in the product. This is a good introduction to Green Beauty.
As much as I found this to be informative, I was a little disappointed that the author detailed the beauty products that she used or suggested green products that could substitute for popular non-green ones. I thought it was a bit of a waste to include actual product names because many products become discontinued over time. It would have been more beneficial if the author had just mentioned the companies instead of specific products. Also, there was an entire chapter that was a make-up tutorial. In the chapter is a step by step guide to applying make-up in various styles.
I guess the tutorial is good for those who may not be very skilled with applying make-up but for anyone who is, this section also felt like a waste.
Overall, I love that you can tell how passionate the author is about green beauty and that there is a lot of good information in the book. Although Paige Padgett is seen as a Green Beauty expert, the writing never feels like she's talking down to the reader nor being preachy. She understands that becoming green is not something that will happen over night but something if you pursue it, will happen over time. She's just giving the reader the information that will help them in their approach to green beauty.
