Comic Book News #11: New Spider-Man series, Green Hornet miniseries and more

It's been a busy week for Comic Book News, here are few more books you might want to add to your pull list:

- Get ready for the adventures of Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson and their eight years old daughter Annie in the new ongoing title Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows. It will be written by Gerry Conway with illustrations by Ryan Stegman and will be published in November.

The series is going to pick up right where the miniseries of the same name ended. According to Conway, "this is not going to be a dark series the emphasis will be on fun, family comedy and drama, action and suspense".

There were a lot of fans (including myself) that were disappointed when Marvel ended Peter and Mary Jane's marriage. For some strange reason in the comic book industry some executives believe that characters being married ruin the stories. I think it's the opposite, fans want to see these characters grow and experience different things. I'm looking forward to reading this.

- Dynamite Comics will be publishing a four issue Green Hornet miniseries titled The Green Hornet: Reign of The Demon. The first issue will be available on December 7th and written by David Liss with illustrations by Kewber Baal. Here is a description of the miniseries:

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery for most people, it could be the deadliest for The Green Hornet and Kato. With their vigilantism tearing apart organized crime, Chicago is visited by two more masked individuals: one claiming to be a friend and the other…their most formidable foe yet!

I like the Green Hornet and Kato, they're so underappreciated.

- Dark Horse Comics has a new four issue supernatural miniseries Spell on Wheels to look out for. It will be written by Kate Leth with illustrations by Megan Levens and color by Marissa Louise. The first issue will be available on October 19th.

According to Leth “These are the last three naturally-born witches – meaning they inherited their power from other magic users – in the Western world, as far as they know. They’ve been brought together to find others who might have the potential to join them.

Aside from Zenoscope's Charmed, Marvel's Scarlet Witch and Dynamite's Dresden Files there are not a lot of series that focus on witches. At least as far as I know, I could be wrong and there are numerous books out there. Anyway, Spell on Wheels looks interesting, might have to think about adding it to my list.
