Lois Lane dated Bruce Wayne in The Batman Superman Movie: World's Finest animated movie (it originally aired as a three part episode of Superman: The Animated Series). In the movie, Bruce Wayne had traveled to Metropolis for two reasons. First, he was trying to track down the Joker and Harley Quinn while the second had him in town to conduct business with Lex Luthor. As soon as Bruce arrived in Metropolis he received plenty of attention from the media. However, it was Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane who caught his attention.
It was interesting to see how captivated Lois was by him while Bruce was equally enchanted by her. He swept her off her feet with romantic dinners and dancing plus sending her a bouquet of roses while charming her with witty conversations. Things were starting to become serious between them because Lois had even put in for a transfer to the Daily Planet Gotham City paper. She was going to move to Gotham City to give this new romance a chance to grow.
Lois' romance with Bruce in this movie reminded me of when Lois and Oliver Queen were in a relationship on the Smallville TV series. They initially met when Lois had mistaken Oliver to be a courier instead of the CEO for Queen Industries. But in her defense she thought he was a messenger delivering a letter to Martha Kent who was running for Senator. Well from there things were a bit adversarial with witty banter flying between them. However, it was easy to see that they were attracted to each other and a relationship quickly grew from there.
I noticed that in both relationships, there was plenty of romance and witty banter which are two things that have always defined the iconic Lois and Clark relationship. However, despite those elements her relationships with Bruce and Oliver were not meant to be.
Although she clearly was in love with Bruce and Oliver, things changed once she found out their superhero secret identities. Her reaction in both the animated movie and Smallville was interesting because although she loved them, she was the one who ended things. She didn't think she could handle the duality and danger of being in a relationship with a hero. This was indeed interesting because by the time Lois and Clark Kent (a.k.a. Superman) eventually fall in love, her previous concerns were long gone.
I figure with time, growth and not to mention being with the right person can assuage any fears or concerns she once had about being in a relationship with a superhero.
