I'm Still Disappointed that Steve Rogers ended up with Peggy Carter in "Avengers: Endgame"

I know with the current state of the country and the world, I know it's ridiculous to still feel annoyed that in Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers abandoned his life and friends in the present to go back into the past for Margaret "Peggy" Carter. And not to mention, Steve going back into the past ruined Peggy's story because she had definitely moved on and had lived a fulfilling life. However, Steve going back and changing Peggy's life was a terrible thing to do simply because in this movie he couldn't move on. Steve treated Peggy as if she was some prize that he won at the end of the fight.

(Captain America: The First Avenger)

It's annoying on so many levels because it's been shown several times throughout the various movies that Steve had moved on with his life and was embracing the present and not to mention a relationship with Sharon Carter. Which is why I don't understand why they had him constantly not only dwelling on the past but on Peggy Carter. That just felt so out of character at this point in Steve's life. That just screams bad writing and that you don't understand your character and what motivates them.

I can't believe they pushed aside Sharon to focus on a romance between Steve and Peggy that feels extremely obsessive with Steve not being able to let go and move on. It's very disappointing especially for Peggy because Steve's decision selfishly changed her life. That doesn't feel romantic or something that a hero would have done. This wasn't the first time Steve made a selfish decision, back in Captain America: Civil War he didn't tell Tony Stark that the Winter Soldier (James "Bucky" Barnes) was the person who had murdered his parents. His reasoning was that he didn't want to hurt Tony with the truth especially that at the time Bucky had been brainwashed into committing so many atrocious acts.

I can sort of understand his decision in not wanting to tell Tony but not for going back to be with Peggy. It felt wrong because he knew that Peggy lived a long and full life with a husband and children while also creating S.H.I.E.L.D. all without him but that didn't seem to register in his decision to go back to "be with her". It would have been best if Steve had simply listened to what Peggy had said to him in Captain America: The Winter Soldier that "The world has changed and none of us can go back. All we can do is our best, and sometimes the best that we can do is to start over". It's clear the writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus don't seem to remember writing those lines or they would have stuck with it and gave Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter the ending they deserved for Avengers: Endgame which would have been for Steve to have finally moved on.
