Book: Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo
Description:
Sparks fly between a K-pop starlet and a tabloid reporter in Somewhere Only We Know, a heartwarming rom-com from Maurene Goo.
10:00 p.m.: Lucky is the biggest K-pop star on the scene, and she’s just performed her hit song “Heartbeat” in Hong Kong to thousands of adoring fans. She’s about to debut on The Tonight Show in America, hopefully a breakout performance for her career. But right now? She’s in her fancy hotel, trying to fall asleep but dying for a hamburger.
11:00 p.m.: Jack is sneaking into a fancy hotel, on assignment for his tabloid job that he keeps secret from his parents. On his way out of the hotel, he runs into a girl wearing slippers, a girl who is single-mindedly determined to find a hamburger. She looks kind of familiar. She’s very cute. He’s maybe curious.
12:00 a.m.: Nothing will ever be the same.
With her trademark humor and voice, Maurene Goo delivers a sparkling story of taking a chance on love—and finding yourself along the way.
Why it's On My List: A pop star and a reporter meet but will it lead to romance. How could I not want to read this? It just seems like a fun romantic read.
TV Shows
Lizzie McGuire (Disney+)
Starring: Hilary Duff, Lalaine, Adam Lamberg, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, Jake Thomas and more
Description:
Enter the world of Lizzie McGuire at your own risk, a world where the 13-year-old and her best friends Miranda and Gordo ride the roller-coaster existence of a middle schooler. Every day is a popularity contest, every class is a crisis and on top of everything else, Lizzie has to deal with her annoying little brother, Matt, and a mom who means well despite her nosy tendencies. You always know what Lizzie is thinking, and if she can't quite say it, you can be sure her animated alter ego will.
Why it's On My List: I didn't watch the show when it originally aired during the early 2000s but since it's on Disney+ I figure I'll give it a watch.
The Mandalorian (Disney+)
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Kyle Pacek, Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Ming-Na Wen, Giancarlo Esposito
Description:
A lone gunfighter makes his way through the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.
Why it's On My List: I have always found the Mandalorians to be interesting from Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy to Sabine Wren in Star Wars: Rebels animated series. There is always a bit of mystery surrounding the Mandalorians.
Music
Off Brand by Kira Kosarin
Why it's On My List: I love music and I love listening to all types of genres. My favorite tends to be movie soundtracks, the last one I bought was Avengers: Endgame by Alan Silvestri. I do enjoy listening to all kinds of music and I want to get Off Brand by Kira Kosarin. The album which has a R&B/Pop feel only has seven songs but I previewed them and they sound really good.
