Books
I Want To Read:
Book: Firefly: Big Damn Hero by James Lovegrove and Nancy Holder
Description:
THE FIRST ORIGINAL NOVEL FROM THE MUCH-MISSED SPACE WESTERN FIREFLY, PRODUCED WITH JOSS WHEDON AS CONSULTING EDITOR, SET IN THE HEART OF THE SERIES.
It should have been a routine job, transporting five crates from the planet of Persephone to a waiting buyer. And Lord knows, Captain Mal Reynolds needs the money if he's to keep Serenity flying. But the client is Badger, and nothing that involves him is ever straightforward. The crates are full of explosives, which might blow at the slightest movement.
Just before take-off, Mal disappears. As the cargo grows more volatile by the minute, and Alliance cruisers start taking an interest in the tenacious smuggling ship, it's down to Serenity's first mate, Zoƫ, to choose between rescuing her captain and saving her crew.
Meanwhile, rumors are spreading on Persephone of a band of veteran Browncoat malcontents who will stop at nothing to be revenged on those responsible for their terrible defeat. Is Mal harboring a dark secret from the war? And can the crew of Serenity find him before it's too late?
Why It's On My List: I love Firefly, the show is one of favorite sci-fi universes and I absolutely had to add this book to my list.
Book: Sabrina the Teenage Witch by Kelly Thompson with illustrations by Veronica Fish
Description:
Kelly Thompson and artist Veronica Fish team-up to tell the story of Sabrina Spellman.
Sabrina is a teen witch who's struggling with balancing the double life of high school and her burgeoning powers. Newly relocated to Greendale with her aunts Hilda and Zelda (also witches), Sabrina is trying to make the best of being the new girl in town which so far includes two intriguing love interests, an instant rivalry, a couple of misfits that could turn into BFFs, and trying to save the high school (and maybe the world) from crazy supernatural events. NBD!
Why It's On My List: I know the dark world of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is popular but I always like the more humorous and fun take on the world of Archie Comics. Which is why I want to read this comic book, it's supposed to be a more lighthearted look a the teen witch.
TV
New Shows I Want to Watch:
- Broke (CBS)
Why It's On My List: I heard it's a funny show, so I want to check it out and see. So far the first three episodes have aired which should make it easy to get caught up.
- Danger Force (Nickelodeon)
Why It's On My List: I've been hearing a lot of good things about this Henry Danger spin-off and would like to see if the fun and heroic actions continue.
- Glitch Techs (Netflix)
Why It's On My List: This is a show I've been wanting to watch with the heroes taking on monsters from video games.
New-to-Me show that I'm watching:
- The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones
Why It's On My List: I watched the first episode/movie My First Adventure in volume 1: The Early Years and it was really good. It has a very education aspect to the episode as the first story follows young Henry "Indiana", his parents Dr. Henry Jones, Sr and Anna Jones and his governess Helen Seymour traveling around the world for his father's lecture tour. While in Egypt, Indy and Miss Seymour joined a team (that included T. E. Lawrence) as they excavate a newly discovered Egyptian tomb. The second story found Henry and his family in Tangiers, Morocco where he became friends with a young Moroccan slave named Omar and learned first hand about the Moroccan slave trade.
Long story short, I put this on my list because the first episode was wonderful and I can't wait to watch the rest of the series.
Old Shows I Plan to Rewatch:
- Beverly Hills, 90210
Why It's On My List: For some reason, I've been wanting to rewatch this show and I bought the DVDs last year and I guess this is a good reason to finally watch them. I know the show has been edited due to music copyrights so it'll be interesting see if the episodes are still fun to watch.
- He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series
On My List: This is another show I haven't watched in a long time and wanted to rewatch it. This is one of the best 80s animated series that follows Prince Adams as he protects Eternia as the hero He-Man from the villainous Skeletor and his minions.
