Trailers for tonight's episodes of 9-1-1: Boston and 9-1-1: Lone Star: Negative Space (+ a Mini 9-1-1 Review)

It's 9-1-1 Mondays and after last week's episode of 9-1-1, I have mixed feelings about how the second half of the fifth season is going. Because I loved Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz's storyline (it was the best part of the episode) his mental state was progressively getting worse as the episode went along. And it doesn't help that his current job as an LAFD Liaison is nothing more than being a paid Twitter user. For someone who is used to having an active job then going to a sedentary one where he sits around tweeting out information must truly feel like the ultimate mind numbing dead-end job. And add that to the insomnia and isolation and depression and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Eddie's emotions are all over the place and he is in need of professional help.

As for everything else in the episode, it truly felt lacking. Henrietta "Hen" Wilson's storyline about not getting along with the new paramedic Jonah Greenway felt like a rehash of what happened in the first half of the season when she was paired up with Eddie. Hen needs a better story, I don't know why the writers are wasting her character on such a boring plot. The bomb in the truck and the rescue weren't even suspenseful and the mystery regarding the bomber was too easy to figure out. The introduction of firefighter Lucy Donato and Evan "Buck" Buckley cheating on his girlfriend Taylor Kelly with her was disappointing. Including having Buck lie to Taylor about it and instead of telling her the truth, he quickly asked her to move in with him. I'm sure this is going to work out really well for Buck (please note my sarcasms). I'm really not looking forward to seeing more of Lucy and Jonah and I can't wait until they are gone from the 118 and the show which unfortunately is starting to feel like a poorly written bad soap opera.

Which is why I'm hoping tonight's episode that's centering around Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han will be much better. I want to know why Maddie felt like she had to leave California to get help and why she decided to go all the way to Boston for it. I want to know why Chim decided to stay in Boston after talking with Eli Cobb (see 9-1-1 season 5 episode 7: Ghost Stories) instead of going back to California and waiting for Maddie to return. I guess maybe he wasn't sure she would return if he didn't go look for her. Anyway, I can't wait to see tonight's episode.

9-1-1 season 5 episode 12: Boston                                 8:00 PM EST                                                 FOX

Description:

Chimney is determined to find a missing Maddie amongst the chaos of St. Patrick's Day.

Where 9-1-1's midseason is off to a wonky start, 9-1-1: Lone Star's third season continues to be good. Last week's episode had Police Office Carlos Reyes and 9-1-1 Dispatcher Grace Ryder trying to find out who was responsible for a SWATing prank that led to Carlos causing an accidental death. You know what I like about Carlos, he is so empathetic and has such a kind heart which is not something you usually see associated with someone in his job. To me, I see Carlos as more of a caregiver instead of someone trying to enforce the law but maybe his kind heart will be an asset for his job.

As much as I'm enjoying this third season, I'm really starting to dislike Owen's girlfriend Catherine (played by Amy Acker) getting so much screen time especially when there are main characters who could definitely use more. Hopefully, this storyline with Owen being stalked will be wrapped up soon because him and Catherine are really eating up screen time.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 episode 12: Negative Space                                 9:00 PM EST                                                 FOX

Description:

Owen fears the past is back to haunt him when a stalker targets him and Catherine. Tommy and Nancy face consequences when Nancy saves the life of a woman wearing a "Do Not Resuscitate" bracelet.
