Trailer for tonight's episode of 9-1-1: What's Your Fantasy?

Happy 9-1-1 Monday!

What did you think of last week's episode Cursed? Well, I have mixed feelings because while it was a fairly good episode there were things that I didn't like. For instance, guest star character Felisa Valdez had way too much screen time. It made me think of last season's episode Ghost Stories where recurring character Taylor Kelly also had way too much screen time. I wonder whose bright idea behind the scenes (showrunner or writer) thought giving Felisa so much screen time was a good idea? They could have cut out some of her scenes and used that to focus on more of the main characters. Because the first half of the season is almost over and it doesn't seem like most of main characters have had much to do. And so far Buck's sperm donor storyline is not very interesting and it's being played for laughs instead of being taken more seriously. Buck really should have had more time to have thought it over before agreeing to become a donor.

I guess the previous episode Tomorrow was so good that the next episode couldn't out do it or the show is really in need of new and better writers. Because the writing this season despite being better than last season is still feeling rather flat. The characters don't seem to be connecting and interacting like they should and a lot of meaningful scenes between characters also seem to be missing. I know they are trying to do something different with the friendships between the main characters by creating different pairings but I wish the writers would still create scenes for the old pairings as well. Because Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and Howard "Chimney" Han haven't worked together as paramedic partners since a small scene in the first episode of the season Let the Games Begin.

The same can be said for Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz whose scenes together have drastically been limited or cut. It feels like the showrunner and writers are going out of their way to make sure to distance Buck and Eddie to make fans forget about all the queerbaiting the show had been doing with these two characters since they probably are not planning on putting them in a relationship (If I'm wrong I will be happy to admit it). But all the distancing is doing is making fans question the decision and talk about Buck and Eddie even more. I'm hoping that the writers will go back to giving Buck and Eddie more scenes in these last two episodes before the mid-season break.

As for tonight's episode What's Your Fantasy?, I'm hoping that Maddie Buckley and Chimney will have a lot of scenes together. Because so far this season, they barely had that many scenes and their relationship feels like it's mostly happening somewhere off screen. I hope that Buck's scene with his niece Jee-Yun won't be a quick blink and you miss it scene but something that will show the two of them having fun together while Chim and Maddie are out house hunting. I'm also hoping Eddie, Chris and Buck will have a scene together because the last time they were together was back in the season premiere episode Let the Games Begin. Lastly, I'm hoping that May Grant will have a lot of good scenes because her scenes have been very lacking as well. Other than that, I'm really just hoping tonight's episode will be better than last week's.
