Happy Friday! I can't believe it's already the end of the week, time is moving along way too fast. It's already a new month. Anyway, here are some of my fandom thoughts. What are yours?
- I would love another I Know What You Did Last Summer movie starring the original cast: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe and from the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer: Brandy and Mekhi Phifer. I don't really care how it happens, they can totally be new characters who are tourists on vacation and the plot could be similar to the first movie with the six characters some how got involved in an accidental death and have to deal with a killer seeking revenge. I really don't care what the plot would be, I just want another movie with this cast.
- I changed my mind about Evan "Buck" Buckley's sperm donor storyline during this sixth season of 9-1-1. Before I thought it was a terrible plot point, now I'm interested to see where the story will go in the second half of the season. Although, I still think Buck should have had time (several episodes) to think about it before quickly making the decision (in the same episode it was introduced in) to become a sperm donor for his friend Connor and Connor's wife Kameron in the fourth episode Animal Instincts. But since the mid-season finale Red Flag confirmed that Kameron is pregnant, I want to know what will happen. And based on the little firefighter onesie shown on Buck's bedside table I think he may be in for a rude awakening because that's not his child. He'll have to realize that although that child may have half of his DNA it will not be his child, it will be Connor and Kameron's. I think he's going to regret agreeing to be a sperm donor.
I'm still surprised that the showrunner and writers decided to go with a sperm donor plot for Buck since he's someone who has a big heart and it's hard to see him helping to create a child and will have no say in how it will be raised. It will be interesting to see if the writers will have Connor and Kameron kindly (yet firmly) tell Buck that he will not have any involvement in raising the child (which is a discussion that should have happened before Buck agreed to be a donor). Or will the writers create some alternative parenting situation where Buck gets a chance to be involved in some sort of way. Or will there be a surprising plot twist and it turns out that Connor somehow got his wife pregnant since it was stated in the episode Animal Instincts that he was the one with the reproductive problem. I guess I'll have to wait until the show returns in March to find out.
(9-1-1 season 6 episode 9: Red Flag)
- I'm really surprised Lupita Nyong'o hasn't been cast or starred in a romantic comedy, I think she would be amazing in one. I don't really care the plot just make sure it's something cute, fun and of course romantic.
- I wish there wasn't this pressure on viewers to binge watch shows the moment a new show premieres on streaming services in order to make sure shows will be renewed. And even if viewers do exactly that, the streaming services will still cancel a show no matter how many viewers watched it. I know no one is forcing anyone to binge watch new shows on streaming services but there's this feeling of pressure that's been cultivate.
I don't like to binge watch shows especially new shows (or ones that are new to me) because I want to take my time watching each episode. I don't like feeling rushed or pressured to watch something and shows shouldn't have to depend on viewers binge watching to make sure they're not cancelled. I don't mind watching a few episodes back-to-back of a marathon if it's a show I've already seen. However, something new (or new to me) I want to take my time watching the story unfold.
