Fandom Thoughts: 9-1-1 (+ Buck and Eddie)

I have been seeing a lot of complaints about the sixth season of 9-1-1 from fans and viewers and I don't blame them. Many complaints are about the terrible Showrunner Kristen Reidel, who many (myself included) hope will be fired after this sixth season is over. Also, the bad and lazy writing, recycled storylines, terrible pacing, baiting Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, ridiculous storylines and storylines that just seem to have no build up or simply go nowhere. Ever since Kristen Reidel took over as the main Showrunner during the fifth season, 9-1-1 has lost that spark that made it such a good must see show. And the show probably won't get back to being that until she's replaced as Showrunner especially if the show gets renewed for a 7th (and rumored last) season.

To circle back to Buck and Eddie, I really don't understand why the Showrunner and writers would rather jump through hoops trying to force Buck into another toxic relationship with a creepy Death Doula. She's only interested in him because he died and not for who he is. And in some misguided way he thinks this death obsessed woman truly sees him. It makes no sense. I guess the Showrunner and writers would rather push this than putting Buck and Eddie in a relationship despite the writing being perfectly set up for it. I don't know why the writers keep creating characters as love interests whose only purpose are to use Buck and not truly care about him.

Buck isn't the only one being pushed into an unnecessary relationship, it's rumored that Eddie's new love interest will be the lady from the DIY emergency back in the fifth episode Home Invasion. If you don't recall, she was the one that had the weird incestual vibe with her brother. Well, she's set to return in the upcoming 17th episode Love in the Air and I guess we'll see if the rumor is true that she's his new love interest. They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for love interests all in the effort to not put Buck and Eddie together.

There's another thing I want to point out for Buck, it's so weird that the writers have chose not to include any scenes of him seeking some much needed therapy. Because he truly needs it. Especially after all he's been going through this season and the last. You would think the writers would consider it since he recently died from being struck by lightning but was later revived and was in a coma. That's a lot to deal with and he just keeps cycling through his trauma and making bad choices. However, the Showrunner and writers won't have him go back to therapy, they would rather put him in a weird relationship with a Death Doula to fix his problems.

Anyway, these were just some 9-1-1 thoughts that have been on my mind lately.
