Three firefighter TV show couples on Soaps list of "10 TV Couples We Want to See in 2024"

I wasn't planning on this turning into Firefighter Sunday but the Soaps article 10 TV Couples We Want to See in 2024 — from Chicago Fire to Virgin River has been making the rounds online. On the list are three non-canon couples from firefighter shows, two from Chicago Fire: Blake Gallo and Violet Mikami and Matthew "Matt" Casey and Sylvia Brett and one from 9-1-1: Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck Buckley.

I'm a little (okay a lot) behind on Chicago Fire but I know there are quite a lot of fans shipping both non-canon couples: Blake and Violet and Matt and Sylvia. And are hoping both couples will get a happy ending especially since the 12th season will be the final season for both Alberto Rosende (who plays Blake Gallo) and Kara Killmer (who plays Sylvia Brett). I just bought the last three seasons (9, 10 and 11) of Chicago Fire on DVD so I can get caught up while I wait for the 12th season premiere which is Wednesday, January 17th at 9:00 PM EST on NBC.

Now for a show and a non-canon couple I'm totally caught up on is Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1. I find it so interesting that so many fans and viewers love the bond and connection between Eddie and Buck and are constantly hoping that the Showrunner and writers will finally put them together. I've noticed a steady increase in fans that are in support of Buck and Eddie (or Buddie as the ship is called). Which is why I'm surprised the Showrunner and writers seem to continue ignoring fans and viewers' interest in putting Eddie and Buck together.

Perhaps they never had the idea or intention of putting them together but why not consider it. Obviously, there is a growing interest from fans who see in both the writing and acting, the amazing chemistry and connection between Buck and Eddie. And are hoping that it will lead to a romantic relationship instead of them constantly being paired up with random and lackluster love interests.

This makes me think of what the Showrunner and writers for The Rookie did for the popular non-canon couple Police Officers Lucy Chen and Timothy "Tim" Bradford. It was stated that they never had any intentions of putting them together but the fan interest for Lucy and Tim (or Chenford as the ship is called) was constantly growing. And they took notice of it and eventually ended up making Lucy and Tim a couple.

I mention this because last year, Lucy and Tim along with Buck and Eddie were included in the US magazine article It’s About Time! TV Couples We Need to See Get Together in 2023. The list also included two other couples that are on the Soaps 2024 list, Janine Teagues and Gregory Eddie from Abbott Elementary and Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler from Law & Order: SVU. Hopefully, this year more of these couples will get a chance to go canon.
