Most Memorable Scene: Tim Bradford Stopping a Police Chase (The Rookie)

In The Rookie episode Safety (season 2 episode 7), did Police Officer Tim Bradford put an end to the police chase out of a sense of duty? Or because he wanted to finish watching the football game? I'm going to say it was a little bit of both and not to mention he put in for overtime pay since he's technically off-duty when he stopped the police chase.

Regardless, this is just a memorable scene and Tim was still able to finish watching his game.

Most Memorable Scene: Lucy Chen's Unexpected Gift (The Rookie)

In this scene from The Rookie episode Punch Card (season 6 episode 8), Lucy Chen got a birthday card delivered to her by her ex-boyfriend Tim Bradford's dog Kojo. This scene is both sweet and sad. Because after they broke up, Lucy was hurt and upset but she still loves Tim. And Tim very much still loves her. However, he is going through some stuff and hopeful this break up will give him time to deal with everything. And then Tim can take the time to romance and woo her to let her know how much he loves her before they get back together. But for now, you can see how much they miss each other and I'm sure they will find their way back to each other. If not at the end of this season then at some point in the next.

Comparison and Foreshadow: Tim and Lucy (The Rookie) and Buck and Eddie (9-1-1)

I love when similarities are pointed out between characters or relationships. These scenes are just so interesting from the similar phrases to the way they were filmed. I want to thank livelovecaliforniadreams for putting these scenes together.

The phrasing of Timothy "Tim" Bradford words to Lucy Chen in The Rookie episode Day in the Hole (season 4 episode 22) was so right on the nose. It was foreshadowing, that's for sure. Although, Tim was talking about them being better prepared for undercover work. It perfectly fit their then current situation where their relationship was slowly progressing towards something romantic. However, they needed more time for it to develop which would give it more depth and meaning. They would eventually go canon in the fifth season.

The same can be said for the phrasing of what Evan "Buck" Buckley said to Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz in the 9-1-1 episode You Don't Know Me (season 7 episode 5). Buck might have been referring to Eddie being at work early but it also perfectly goes with Eddie being too early as Buck's love interest. Although, Buck recently realized he was bisexual, Eddie still hasn't figured out his sexuality just yet. So unfortunately it's still too soon for them to get together. But I really hope this is foreshadowing for Buck and and Eddie and it will eventually lead to them going canon.

Most Memorable Scene: Tim's surprise gift to Lucy (The Rookie)

In The Rookie episode The Vow (season 6 episode 5), Timothy "Tim" Bradford surprised his girlfriend Lucy Chen for date night with an interesting gift. I think it's a sweet yet rather morbid gift but it speaks to how happy he was that Lucy's radio saved her life. Her radio prevented her from being fatally shot. So, yeah it's a sweet little romantic gesture.

Too bad their date night was interrupted by a mysterious phone call. I wish Tim had talked to Lucy instead of leaving her in the dark because she was so worried about him. Which is why I can understand her reason for telling him to leave because she really didn't want to deal with at that point. I'm sure they will eventually talk and deal with this little bump in their relationship but for now I see she just need some time away from him.

Three firefighter TV show couples on Soaps list of "10 TV Couples We Want to See in 2024"

I wasn't planning on this turning into Firefighter Sunday but the Soaps article 10 TV Couples We Want to See in 2024 — from Chicago Fire to Virgin River has been making the rounds online. On the list are three non-canon couples from firefighter shows, two from Chicago Fire: Blake Gallo and Violet Mikami and Matthew "Matt" Casey and Sylvia Brett and one from 9-1-1: Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck Buckley.

Buried Alive (9-1-1, Bones and The Rookie)

A fan created this really amazing gif set of characters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley from 9-1-1, Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and Seeley Booth from Bones and Lucy Chen and Timothy "Tim" Bradford from The Rookie. It highlights the classic romantic trope of a character buried alive and the love interest (or potential love interest) digging by hand trying to get to them.

Out of the three shows, I've only watched 9-1-1 (completely) and The Rookie (partially, I'm still a few seasons behind) but I do have the Bones complete series sitting on my shelf. And for a while now I have been planning to watch it but so far I haven't. However, over the years I've gleaned enough information that I have a general understanding of the show and characters. Anyway, I think the similarities or parallels between these scenes and the characters are interesting. Because Buck, Booth and Tim were so desperate to get to their partners that they were digging by hand. And not to mention how scared Eddie, Bones and Lucy felt being buried alive and desperately wanting to get out. Which made the relief after everyone was safe and reunited so palpable (albeit a little later for Buck and Eddie).

I also found it interesting that unlike Tim and Booth, Buck wasn't able to free Eddie by digging for him since Eddie was trapped 40 feet underground. However, Eddie did find a way to save himself and was eventually reunited with Buck (and the other firefighters). So far, two out of the three couples are canon. I'm still hoping for that to happen for Buck and Eddie because why use a classic romantic trope if not to eventually make them canon.

Fandom: The Rookie Fans, Congratulations on Lucy and Tim's Romance

It must be nice being a fan of The Rookie TV series right now because two characters that fans have been wanting to get together for a long time, Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford are finally getting that chance to do just that. It must be nice when the showrunners and writers actually listen to fans and acknowledge the chemistry between two characters they initially had no plans in putting together.

It really makes me wish the showrunner and writers for 9-1-1 were supportive and not dismissive of the amazing chemistry fans see between Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley and took a chance by putting them together. This is a very beloved ship with two characters that fans love who care about each other very much and I've said this before that if either Buck or Eddie had been a woman, they would have gotten together either in the third or fourth season. Instead the showrunner and writers keep trying to introduce and force lackluster love interests for Eddie and Buck instead of letting them be together.

I used to watch The Rookie when it first aired (back when Lucy was dating John Nolan) but I had gotten so behind on episodes I never went back. It's a good show, maybe I'll go back to it. I'm really happy for the fans because I've seen so many comments and posts about Tim and Lucy and how fans hoped they would get together. And I think it's cool to see fans celebrate something they had only hoped and wished would happen. As a 9-1-1 fan, it would really be nice to have that same opportunity to celebrate Buck and Eddie getting together. Maybe the 9-1-1 showrunner will see the positive reviews and fan excitement and celebration for Lucy and Tim and would consider taking that same chance for Buck and Eddie but I'm not holding my breath.
