The Birds of Prey with their two new members Hawk and Dove, I thought it was interesting having Hawk on the team. His approach to crime fighting was similar to Huntress but with even less finesse.

These two definitely know how to kick back and have a good time. Lady Blackhawk and Helena Bertinelli's Huntress, two of my favorite characters that are still missing from the new 52.

Book Review: Birds of Prey Vol #7

Book: Birds of Prey Volume #7: Perfect Pitch by Gail Simone (Trade issues: #86-90 and #92-95)

My Review:

(I read the single issues #86-95 instead of the trade edition)

I thought this was Absolutely Amazing. It was action packed, non-stop entertainment. I felt like I had read a well written action movie.

In issue #86, Barbara Gordon may have moved her headquarters to Metropolis but that didn't keep the Birds of Prey away from all the Gotham City craziness as well as a little bit of Metropolis craziness. Also, Bruce Timm illustrated the second part of this four part issue.

In issues #87-90, Huntress continued with her plan to take down the Gotham mob (Vol #6) which also had Black Canary teaming up with Green Arrow in Star City to help further Huntress' plan. The ladies also had to deal with finding Savant who had been abducted which leads them into someones mysterious plan to get Oracle's identity. There is also a really great scene between Barbara and her father Commissioner James Gordon.

Issue #91 was a stand alone which had the ladies trying to stop a kidnapping of a potential organ donor.

Issues #92-95 had the Birds on a race to get to the Crime Doctor (Matthew Thorne) before some of his associates find him. This also featured Lady Shiva, one of the most deadly assassins surprisingly helping the Birds of Prey while Black Canary was off training. Lady Shiva and Lady Blackhawk are both totally wicked and quite funny.

All three stories were great. Gail Simone's witty writing and amazing character development makes Birds of Prey one of my favorite comic series. Completely loved this.

Art of the Day: Lady Blackhawk (Zinda Blake)

Lady Blackhawk a.k.a. Zinda Blake is one of the craziest toughest ladies in DC Comics well aside from Helena Bertinelli. She is another one of my favorite characters. Besides being tough and crazy, Zinda is also very loyal, brave and a very glass half full kind of person. I don't know how she didn't make the cut for the new 52 but she is surely missed in the new Birds of Prey.

I think Starling is a poor substitute for this amazing character and it seems like DC is trying a little too hard trying to replace Zinda (and Bertinelli) with her. Why didn't they just use this awesome pilot?

This looks as if they just got back from a good night of patroling and are winding down. The ladies are just lounging around enjoying the evening. It also looks like Dinah (Black Canary) is either telling a funny story about Batman or making fun of him.

I like all the details in this picture such as the little Batman toy on Barbara's computer to her Batman logo mug. I also like that the artist included Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe (Misfit).
