New Book Purchase: Suicide Squad Novelization and The Martian

I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore books well at least for a while. But somehow today I found myself roaming through the aisles of my local bookstore. As I got to the end of one of the aisles, I saw that there was a sale on paperbacks. There was table full of them and after looking over all the books, I ended up picking these two Suicide Squad and The Martian.

Not surprising, since Suicide Squad and The Martian were posted in my Books of Interest Challenge Day #220 and Day #218 respectively.

Suicide Squad

Book: Suicide Squad The Official Movie Novelization by Marv Wolfman

Description:

Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous imprisoned super criminals, provide them the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them to defeat an enigmatic, unstoppable enemy.

U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has gathered a group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose. Once they figure out they were chosen to fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die beating the odds, or decide it’s every man for himself?

The Martian

Book: The Martian by Andy Weir

Description:

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.

Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there.

After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.

Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?
