Buddie Week: Day #7: When Buck Met Eddie
I wasn't sure how to close out my first Buddie Week, so I figured I would go back to the beginning with the 9-1-1 season 2 first episode Under Pressure. This is the episode that not only introduced Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz to the show but also through Evan "Buck" Buckley's point of view.

Buddie Week: Day #6: Buck and Eddie: Dating Without Realizing It
Buck: You guys are... dating each other.
Chimney: That's crazy. We're... Friends who hang out.
Maddie: Yeah. Just hanging out.
Buck: No. Y-You're always talking or texting each other. You sing karaoke together. You do Buffridays, you finish each other's sentences. Guys, come on, you're a couple.

I wish Buck would remember his own words and realize that him and Eddie are a couple. Or at least have Maddie and Chimney remember and point it out to him. I love this gif set by Vic (bilosan) because it highlights Buck and Eddie's relationship and ties it back to what Buck said about Maddie and Chimney dating without realizing it. Which means according to his words, him and Eddie have been dating for quite some time. Now they just need someone to point it out to them so they can see it. And hopefully do something about it, such as finally start dating.

Buddie Week: Day #4: Video: Buck and Eddie: This is not a temporary love
This is one of my favorite fan edits of Buck and Eddie, it truly shows their connection to each other and to Christopher. If they ever went canon, I think this would be one of the most amazing relationships because you would have two best friends who have already created this beautiful bond while co-parenting Eddie's son. And adding a romance between them would only make their relationship even better. I just hope one day they will finally get a chance to go canon.

Buddie Week: Day #3: Eddie and Buck being Co-Parents in Future Tense
This scene from the 9-1-1 episode Future Tense (season 4 episode 3) has always been one of favorite scenes. Because it feels like a scene from a family sitcom showing a cozy domestic night between a couple, Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley and their son, Christopher Diaz.
When Chris asks Buck if they can go to his apartment to play video games, Buck doesn't answer right away, instead he looks over to Eddie for him to answer the question. Which is understandable since Eddie is Chris’ father. However, Eddie doesn’t answer, instead he looks over at Buck and gives him a silent cue to answer the question in a responsible parental way. Eddie didn't want to be the "Bad Cop" this time. It was time for Buck to be the stern parent in this parental discussion.
Looking at this scene, it felt like I was watching two parents dealing with their son instead of a parent and his best friend. This scene really shows how the three of them have created this wonderful little family. It's just so interesting that whether they realized it or not at the time, Eddie and Buck had become co-parents to Christopher. And in this scene, Eddie is giving Buck equal parental responsibility to guide Chris and let him know that they will be going along with Eddie's decision in wanting to take a little break from using the internet. So, the only games that Chris will be playing are board games.

Buddie Week: Day #2: Fashion Meets Fandom - Guys' Edition: Buck and Eddie's outfits for the basketball game
In the 9-1-1 episode Buck, Bothered and Bewildered (season 7 episode 4), Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley were playing a fun yet intense game of basketball with some of their friends. This scene was supposed to be inspired by the beach volleyball scene in the movie Top Gun. Side note, I've never seen this movie or the sequel Top Gun: Maverick. But I've heard such good things about both movies maybe I'll watch them.

Buddie Week: Day #1: Outside Looking In or a Scene from a Romantic Comedy?
This is my first post for Buddie Week and I wanted to start out with this scene from the 9-1-1 episode Outside Looking In (season 5 episode 11). The framing of this scene really feels like it's right out of a romantic comedy. As someone who loves watching this genre of movies, this is a scene I have seen so many times. It's when the character would see their crush/potential love interest or ex (who they re-kindle a romance with) and would smile when they see them. But then they notice their love interest is having a good time with someone else. And then that character doesn't know what do with those feelings, so they leave without their love interest knowing they were there.
And that's exactly how this 9-1-1 scene is filmed because although it supposed to show Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz feeling like an outsider looking in. It read more like a scene from a romantic comedy. Eddie was at the bar to hang out with his former firefighter team, the 118. However, the framing of this is very interesting because why is the camera angle or Eddie's line of focus on Evan "Buck" Buckley. The rest of the team (Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and Robert "Bobby" Nash along with firefighter from a different station Lucy Donato) were at the table but they were facing away from Eddie. Which makes it clear that Buck is the focal point.
This scene has all the key elements from a romantic comedy that I mentioned above. From Eddie's smile when he notices the team (Buck) to it dropping when realizes the team (Buck) is having a good time without him. Can't help noticing all of Eddie's longing looks at the team (Buck) before leaving. I'm sure if you showed this scene to anyone who has never watched the show, they would probably think this was a romantic moment. Which is truly the appearance it's giving. There was no reason for Eddie to have felt like he didn't belong, these were his friends even if he no longer at that time was an active firefighter. However, the scene reads as if Eddie saw his crush, Buck looking happy and laughing without him and left the bar without letting anyone know he was there. Information about Buddie Week
I can't believe I nearly forgot to post that Buddie Week starts tomorrow, April 8th and will go until Sunday, April 14th. It's a week-long fan event to celebrate 9-1-1 characters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley's relationship, which is unfortunately still non-canon. Just for the record, I do want to them to be canon. However, canon or not, Buddie fans love Buck and Eddie and the story that has continued to be built up between them. Which is why we enjoy celebrating them. If you're interested in celebrating Buddie Week, feel free to join in and be as creative as you want.
I know that there is a fanfiction centered Buddie Week 2024 event but I think if you wanted to join that one it required you to have signed up for it. Which I believe is closed now since the event starts tomorrow. But if you missed the chance to sign up, please feel free to write Buddie fanfics if you want to and post them. As for me, I don't have those wonderful fictional writing skills, which is why I never participate in that event. So, I will be honoring the characters and their relationship through a variety of posts. Maybe something similar to how I celebrated my Poison Ivy Week. Despite, remembering at the last minute, I'm sure I'll have something to post for each day. I'm excited to see what I will end up posting because at the moment I have no idea.
