Speed Racer Fancast: Hudson Williams

Yesterday, I spent the entire day putting together a bookcase and shelving books but to relax after finishing that task, I watched a few episodes from the classic Speed Racer animated series. I love watching this old cartoon, this show is a funny, smart, zany action packed adventure. It's not just funny there's also drama and mystery as well.

After watching a few episodes, I was thinking that if anyone ever decides to reboot and make another live-action Speed Racer movie or a TV series, I could totally see Hudson Williams as Speed Racer. Hudson has this innate playfulness, chaotic energy and genuine grit and determination to fully play the aspiring professional race car driver. I just think he would make an awesome Speed Racer.

Johnny Cage (Mortal Kombat 2) Fancast: Chris Hemsworth and Oliver Stark

The Mortal Kombat movie is getting a sequel and there's a strong chance that the character Johnny Cage will be in it. I was wondering who you would cast to play the character? I would cast either Chris Hemsworth or Oliver Stark for the role.

I think either one can play over the top characters and both are used to the physicality of action scenes. And not to mention both look like they live in the gym, so they already have the perfect muscular physique for the role. I know there is little chance of either actor being cast as Johnny but I think either one would be great for the role. Well, I guess that's what fancasting is for. 

Fancast: Ruth Negga and Domhnall Gleeson

I love romantic comedies, it really feels like there just aren't enough of them. And if it was up to me, I would totally cast Ruth Negga and Domhnall Gleeson in an Irish romantic comedy/mystery. Something that would have their characters, who would be strangers, getting caught in the middle of some kind of whimsical and weird murder mystery. And they would need to work together to solve the mystery in order to clear their names. All the while, throughout this wacky harrowing adventure, they slowly start to fall for each other.

I would definitely set the movie in Ireland, so all the wonderful places and sights can be shown of the country. If you could fancast for a romantic comedy who would you pick?

Sigyn Fancast: Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Ever since it was announced that Gugu Mbatha-Raw was cast in the upcoming Disney+ Loki TV series, I have been hoping that she will play Sigyn. So far no information has been released as to what character she's playing. My hope is still on Sigyn but even if she's not, I can still fancast her as the Asgardian Goddess.

Batman Fancast: Adam Driver

After finding these pictures of Adam Driver, I couldn't help thinking he would have been perfect as Bruce Wayne/Batman for the upcoming Batman movie. He did such a fantastic job as the twisted, complex and broody villain Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy that it's hard not to imagine him taking on the heroic role of Batman. I feel like Driver has established himself as a major talent and has this amazing presence that takes over the screen and couple that with his acting and solid build, I could see him giving a stellar performance as the cape crusader.

It just seemed like a missed opportunity not to have cast Driver as Batman. Can you imagine how amazing he would have been?

Fancast: Mateus Ward

I don't have a particular character in mind for Mateus Ward but I would love to see him in a mystery movie or TV series. Something where he's a journalism student in college who stumbles upon a big scandal and puts himself in dangerous situations trying to uncover the truth.

If I had to choose a comic book character I could see him portraying, it would be as a young Bruce Wayne. The character would be at the early stages on his journey to becoming a hero while traveling the world. I would also cast him in a romantic comedy (because we need more of those) perhaps in something that breaks the stereotype of the bad boy who unexpectedly falls in love.

Regardless of whatever role I would fancast him in, I think Mateus is an up-and-coming young actor that should be on Hollywood's radar.   

The Hardy Boys Fancast: William Brent and Tyrel Jackson Williams

Did you watch Nancy Drew last night? What did you think of it? I will be posting my review soon. Until then, I was thinking that if the new Nancy Drew series is a success that it will lead to The Hardy Boys also getting a series. I've been a fan of both Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys every since I started reading the books which follows the characters solving a variety of mysteries.

Lois Lane Friday: Lois Lane is Finally Appearing on The CW's Arrowverse (and Who I Think Should Be Cast)

I can't believe Lois Lane is finally going to appear on The CW's Arrowverse shows. This news is super exciting, no pun intended. It was announced earlier this week that Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) will return for the DC Comics crossover event for Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl TV series and joining him will be Lois Lane.

According to reports, the crossover will be for three nights starting Sunday, Dec. 9th with The Flash at 8 PM. With the story continuing with Arrow on Monday, Dec. 10th at 8 PM and ending with Supergirl on Tuesday, Dec. 11th at 8 PM.

There have been a lot of speculations and fancast as to who should be the legendary tenacious reporter. For me, I would love to see Jenna Dewan as Lois. Okay, I know what you're going to say "she has already played Lucy Lane". Yes, that's true, she was cast as Lois' younger sister but stay with me, it can still work. Especially since the last time Lucy was seen was during the first season of Supergirl. The only thing that would be needed to make the change is for Jenna to wear a long wig. And there could be a running gag of sorts about how much Lois resembles her younger sister Lucy.

I watch a lot of old TV shows and the one thing that I noticed is that there were some actors who played more than one character on a series. Yeah it was a few guest appearances here and there until some possibly receiving a more permanent role in the series. And I don't see why Jenna couldn't do the same with Lois. She's a good actor and could easily pull off the role as the tough as nail reporter. I know this will never happen but I just thought I would put my two cent out there about who should be cast as Lois Lane.

Lois Lane Friday: My Thoughts on the New "Metropolis" TV Series and a Lois Lane Fancast: Tiya Sircar

I'm not holding my breath in the hopes that Lois Lane will ever appear on The CW Supergirl series and I don't like how the show has painted her character. I also can't get over how they only used Superman as a season 2 ratings gimmick and I'm not interested in seeing how they will do the same with Lois if they do decide to include her in the show. But I am hoping that the Lois Lane centric live-action TV series titled Metropolis which will air on DC Comics' upcoming streaming service will give fans what we have been waiting for.

Fortunately the show has been delayed to rework it, I say fortunately because honestly, I hated the concept of the show which was: "Metropolis follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets." The show is supposed to take place before Superman/Clark Kent arrived in Metropolis.

I hope during the redevelopment process they will fix the aspect of the show that has Lois and Lex working together to investigate. Lex is a slimy corrupt weasel and definitely not someone Lois should be working with and I can't understand why that was even considered. Because even before Clark or Superman showed up in Metropolis, Lois was already considered one of the best investigative reporters. I think it would be great if they wanted to show her early beginnings as a reporter but they don't need her working with Lex in any capacity.

An issue I had with the first season of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was the show had Lois not being able to see that Lex wasn't this upstanding businessman she thought he was instead of the corrupt evil villain that he really was. I guess in the show's defense he used his charming personality to his advantage in keeping Lois in the dark. But I don't want that to be repeated in this show, Lois needs to be suspicious of Lex from the very beginning and questioning everything he does.

So far there has been no announcement as to who will play Lois and my choice would be Tiya Sircar. Even though I hate that Alex, Inc. was recently cancelled (she was great in that show), I can see Sircar taking on the role as the intelligent, confident, feisty, outspoken, risk taking reporter. In many of her other roles (The Good Place, The Internship, etc.) she has played characters who have similar characteristics of Lois and I certainly think she would be perfect for the role. Especially if the writers take the time to create a well-written version of the character which would include taking into consideration of the complexities of who Lois Lane is.

Static Fancast: Dexter Darden

I love watching the Static Shock animated series and think it would be perfect to adapt into a movie. If DC Comics and Warner Bros. ever decide to greenlight a Static Shock movie who do you think should be cast as Static? I think Dexter Darden would make an awesome Virgil Hawkins/Static.

He did an amazing job as Frypan in The Maze Runner movies, he made you see how brave, thoughtful, caring and level headed the character was especially considering all the devastating things that were happening in that series.

In the animated series, Virgil is such a fun character, he's smart and geeky but also very outgoing. As his superhero alter ego Static he uses his intelligence, skills, fun one-liners and his really cool electrical powers to stop crime. I could see Darden as the fun loving hero, he's a good actor and definitely has the look to portray the character.

Kevin Keller Fan-Cast: Froy Gutierrez

I know the CW's Riverdale TV series already has an actor for Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) but I couldn't help doing a little fan casting. If I was creating an Archie Comics inspired TV show or movie I would cast Froy Gutierrez as Kevin, he's my #1 choice.

In the comics, Kevin has a confident, type-A personality but he's also a little clumsy. I think Froy not only has the look but I could totally see him adding complexity, charm and vulnerability while bringing out Kevin's goofy and overachieving personality. One of the things, I don't like about Riverdale's Kevin is he's too one-dimensional. The writers barely give Kevin anything good to work with, he's just there as the gay friend. The series doesn't focus on much beyond his sexuality which is disappointing because there is so much more to Kevin Keller than one aspect of who he is.
