Most Memorable Moment: Clark Kent Dancing with Lana Lang at the Prom (Smallville)

This was such an interesting prom scene from the Smallville episode Spirit (season 4 episode 18) because there were a wide array of emotions shown from all the characters. From Clark Kent's surprise at seeing Lana Lang to Lana's nervousness of being at the prom. To both Lois Lane and her cousin (still not a fan of this) Chloe Sullivan feeling a little melancholy to Martha and Jonathan Kent's shock melt into happiness to Jason Teague's jealousy at seeing Clark and Lana dancing.

There was just so many emotions in this scene. I always found it interesting that despite Lois saying that she wasn't the one Clark wanted to dance with, you could see on her face after he left that she was experiencing some sort of emotion about it. Perhaps she did want to dance with him. But at that point in time Clark only had feelings for Lana who unfortunately was dating Jason (who in my opinion was using Lana because she had a connection to the stones). Jason might have cared for Lana but he was still using her.

Now back to Lois, the irony of her telling her cousin "You're headed for Metropolis. You are destined to be a big shot reporter at the Daily Planet." Which as we all know, is Lois' destiny. I have to mention that very bright and tacky pink dress and equally tacky earrings that Lois was wearing (maybe I'll do a Fashion Meets Comics for it). That look was so not Lois, however, it was all thanks to Dawn Stiles' ghost who had possessed her. Ugly dress or not at least Dawn did an amazing job with Lois' makeup because that was perfect. The sad thing was that one way or another Dawn was so set on being Prom Queen and she kept possessing different people to try to achieve that. Meanwhile, I just love Lana's complete look, it was very old Hollywood glam. Hair, dress, accessories and makeup, it was all perfect. And Clark had a very nice simple tuxedo that looked great on him.

They really had the perfect song playing with Lifehouse performing their song "You and Me". Because as the scene closes, there's Clark and Lana happily slow dancing without a care in the world not realizing the swirl of emotions all around them. They are just so blissfully unaware. This was just a memorable scene.

Fashion Meets Comics: Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn Sweatshirt

Happy Tuesday! How was everyone's labor day? It was very relaxing.

Anyway, I was looking at the DC Shop website this morning looking for something else when I found this Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn sweatshirt. I just love the bright and colorful artwork by Jen Bartel, it's so cute. I hate that summer is nearing its end, it's my favorit season but it is ending. I can't believe I have been looking at fall fashion items, which is probably why I'm actually interested in buying a sweatshirt despite it still being summer.

The price isn't too bad, I just wonder if there was a sale yesterday. I wish I had checked. Anyway, it's still a cute sweatshirt that I could see pairing with jeans, pants, skirts and even over dresses.

Fashion Meets Comics - Costume Analysis: Lois Lane (Superman & Lois)

I don't know how I missed actress Elizabeth "Bitsie" Tulloch posting Superman & Lois behind the scene pictures on Instagram last month (well Instagram is pretty wonky with not always showing posts). Anyway, she posted some upcoming fourth (and final) season outfits for Lois Lane. I believe both outfits are for a flashback episode or scenes.

Edit to add: Happy 86th Anniversary, Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman. Thankfully, this time I didn't completely forget.

Fashion Meets Comics: Kara Danvers (Supergirl)

In the beginning of the Supergirl episode The Bodyguard (season 5 episode 14), Kara Danvers, her sister Alexandra "Alex" and her friend and co-worker Nia Nal were at the Obsidian Platinum virtual pop up. As they were leaving, Alex's girlfriend Dr. Kelly Olsen arrived with a cute little bento box with food for Alex. So, while Kara was being adorably nosey and a little too interested in the dumplings that were in the box, she was wearing this really nice tie waist trench coat.

Fashion Meets Comics: Diana Prince (DC Super Hero Girls)

It's been a while since I've watched DC Super Hero Girls animated series but I always liked the really cute outfit Diana Prince wore when she's wasn't her superhero alter ego Wonder Woman. I always thought it would be a cute look for fall. I would describe her outfit as nerdy preppy casual. Her outfit was a cozy red sweater over a white button down shirt paired with a blue or denim skirt. It's a very cute and comfy look that was perfect for school or anywhere else.

Fashion Meets Comics: Ayesha (The Sovereign - Guardians of the Galaxy)

There is something so creepy about The Sovereign's quest for perfection. They engineer it in the creation of their people because to them Perfection is the key component to who they are as well as to everything in general. Which is why they made such interesting villains in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies because nothing is perfect and their attempt to strive for it makes them scary. By engineering perfection you lose what makes everyone unique. I would like to note that The Sovereign never would have been villains to the Guardians if Rocket hadn't stole some of their batteries. But this is getting away from the point of this post which is Fashion Meets Comics.

Fashion Meets Comics: Sabrina Spellman

I've been rewatching Sabrina: The Teenage Witch and it's hard not to notice all the cute clothes that Sabrina Spellman wore. So in between casting spells that tend to go awry to trying to deal with high school, college and life in general, Sabrina's wardrobe was cute and stylish. I like that there were trendy pieces mixed in with classic ones which created a fun style that perfectly represented Sabrina.

An outfit that I like is this purple turtleneck paired with a multi print mini skirt. I really love the print and silhouette of this skirt, sometimes something simple makes the biggest statement. This is such a cute look but when Sabrina wore it, it was during the fall and she wore tights with it. For this Fashion Meets Comics, I wanted to make it a more summery look.

Fashion Meets Comics/Star Style: Arielle Kebbel's Deadpool T-shirt and Red Pants

I have a lot of t-shirts with comic book characters on them, I'm wearing a Wonder Woman t-shirt right now. I mention this because while I was looking for information about this year's New York Comic Con (NYCC), I somehow found pictures of actress Arielle Kebbel from the 2018's NYCC. As soon as I saw her outfit, a Deadpool crop top and red wide leg pants, I thought it would be perfect for a Fashion Meets Comics/Star Style post.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #19

Happy Friday! It's been an interesting week, which is why I'd love to know what are some of your fandom thoughts?

- One of my pet peeves is when comic book superhero/villain characters have on random regular clothes over their costumes. I don't know, it's just something that annoys me. It ruins the look of the costume and it looks weird.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #6

It's Friday, what fandom thoughts are on your mind?

- I have a friend who started watching 9-1-1 and he keeps asking me what season does Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz get together. At first, I didn't have the heart to tell him they don't but I finally told him that so far those two are not together and probably never will. However, you would think that it should have happened at some point with the way the writing for these characters and how their friendship is depicted at times with a very intimate feel especially in comparison to the other friendships on the show.

Fashion Meets Comics: Catwoman's Costume

Need a little fitness Monday Motivation, why not let your favorite comic book character's costume inspire your fitness clothes. As much as I love bright colors, I decided to go with Catwoman's black costume.

Exercising and working out can sometimes require a bit of motivation and I figure wearing something you like is a great incentive.

Artwork: Catwoman #21 variant cover by Ian MacDonald

I always felt like the various black versions of Catwoman's costume were perfectly suited for someone who tends to live in the shadows while attempting several heists. This inspired me to create two Catwoman fitness outfits. The first outfit includes a jacket, tank top and capri leggings and the second pairs a long sleeve top with tights all in Selina's signature color.

Hopefully, this Fashion Meets Comics inspires you to create a workout look of your favorite character. Perhaps it'll motivate you to workout or at least give you a chance to go searching for some cool comic book costumes.

Fashion Meets Comics: Diana Prince's Blue Outfit (Wonder Woman 1984)

In Wonder Woman 1984, Diana Prince wore some amazing outfits such as this beautiful classic navy look. Diana may have worn this outfit to work at the museum but it goes perfectly from day to night when after work she went to dinner with her new friend Dr. Barbara Minerva.

I like this outfit, it's work-appropriate but comfy while still looking very chic. A navy blouse paired with navy pants is an easy look to pull off. Diana kept her outfit streamlined and let her animal print heels make a statement.

To recreate the outfit, I found a long sleeve navy top and paired it with a cute pair of ankle length navy pants. This combo is definitely a classic and like if you want to make a statement with your accessories like Diana pair it with a bold animal print shoe.

Art of the Day: Storm

Artwork: Storm by Treshell Fisher

I love Storm's outfit, it has late 90s/early 2000s grunge/punk feel too it.

Fashion Meets Comics: Nia Nal's Striped Top

A fashion staple that I always seem to have in my closet, is some version of this striped ribbed top that Nia Nal wore in Supergirl's fifth season episode Reality Bytes. It's one of my favorite go-to fall pieces that's great to have when the weather gets cold and chilly. I like that it's a classic that can be styled in so many different ways. You could pair it with jeans (like Nia), skirts, pants, shorts, over a dress with blazers, jackets, cardigans and more.

(Supergirl season 5 episode 15 Reality Bytes)

Something that I really like about this top is that it has a studious/academic aesthetic. It makes me think of reading books all day, studying in the library or simply being in school. It's the classic simplistic look that gives it a studious quality.

(Supergirl season 5 episode 15 Reality Bytes)

This top was a style choice that really stood out to me because it felt like it was something that could be found in nearly anyone's closet.

Fashion Meets Comics and Fandom: Five Favorite Coats

I'm all about the warm summer weather and clothes but once it starts to cool down and become chilly, I'm totally focused on fall and winter clothes especially coats. I love looking at all the different styles and colors. I'm always getting inspired by looks and I also can't help noticing when a character is wearing a really nice coat as well. So, I decided to focus on some of my favorites. Since there are so many characters with great coats I narrowed this post down to five, however, I will create a few more Favorite Coats post for all the other characters. But for now here are some of my favorite coats.

Double Breasted Trench Coat

Billy Johnson (Run)

I haven't finished watching Run yet so I'm not quite sure what the real reason is for Billy Johnson running away from his life and withdrawing all of his money from the bank. However, in the few episodes I've watched he does have this really nice trench coat. Usually this coat style can be rather structured, but I like that he kept it more casual and that he paired it with a striped hoodie.

Fashion Meets Comics: Dreamer's Uniform (Supergirl)

I love re-imaging superhero costumes/uniforms into fitness clothes especially since most of them already look like something you can workout in anyway.

For this Fashion Meets Comics, I wanted to focus on Supergirl's Dreamer a.k.a Nia Nal who is one of the newest heroes to protect National City. I think she has a really cool uniform or super suit and what I like about it, is that it's sleek and durable and perfect for fighting crime. Her suit includes a mixture of textures and colors (dark blue, turquoise, gray, etc.) which makes it stand out among the various heroes and I thought it would be great for this post.

Fashion Meets Comics: Loki Bracelets

Looking for some fun fashion inspiration? Why not channel your inner God of Mischief with this cute Loki bracelet set. I like it because it's not overly flashy or dramatic but rather lowkey (yeah, I know, no more Loki puns). I like all three bracelets but I do wish one of the braided ones was made with black beads instead.

Regardless, it's still pretty cool.

Fashion Meets Comics: Kara Kent (Smallville)

Smallville's seventh season introduced fans to the real Kara Zor-El. I say that because in the third season final episode Covenant there was a girl with powers claiming to be Clark's cousin Kara from Krypton. Unfortunately, she was not who Clark thought she was and she certainly was not the real Kara.

Which brings us back to the seventh season when Kara finally appeared. What I like about this version is that she's headstrong, confident and a little impulsive. While she was trying to get to know her cousin Clark, she was also trying to familiarize herself with being on Earth and living in Smallville, Kansas. There was definitely a period of adjustment for her and she was trying her best to fit in. But she went from Krypton's highly advanced world to ours, nothing can really prepare you for that. She truly was in a different world.

Toy Corner: Barbie Signature Wonder Woman 1984 Set: Steve Trevor and Diana Prince

Although, the Wonder Woman 1984 movie is delayed until October 2nd, the merchandise is not. This collector's 2-doll set is really cool, it included Steve Trevor and Diana Prince wearing these stylish 80s outfits that are featured in the upcoming movie.

I love this dress Diana is wearing, it's so beautiful and I'm sure it's going to be even more impressive on screen. Meanwhile, Steve definitely has the typical 80s look which unfortunately includes the hideous fanny pack. I've never understood the appeal of it, but the fanny pack was an 80s fashion staple even if it was ugly.

Anyway, this set is priced at $80 and is available for pre-order. It's scheduled to be released on July 22nd, so my fellow collectors, be sure pick this up and add it to your collection. I plan on getting one too.
