New Release Tuesday: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Novelization

The novelization for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out today! Yay, aren't you excited? Okay, probably not especially since not a lot of movie fans buy novelizations which I wish they would. The writers generally add in additional information to the story.

I know there's a health crisis right now, which means we are not to go out unless necessary and buying a book is not a priority. Plus, I highly doubt there are many bookstores open anyway. So I'll ask, how many of you are going to order this today? Since, I didn't pre-order it, I'm going to try to order it today. I want to read it and see what new information was included in the story.

Book: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Novelization by Rae Carson

Description:

Witness the epic final chapter of the Skywalker saga with the official novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, including expanded scenes and additional content not seen in theaters!

The Resistance has been reborn. But although Rey and her fellow heroes are back in the fight, the war against the First Order, now led by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, is far from over. Just as the spark of rebellion is rekindling, a mysterious signal broadcasts throughout the galaxy, with a chilling message: Emperor Palpatine, long thought defeated and destroyed, is back from the dead.

Has the ancient Lord of the Sith truly returned? Kylo Ren cuts a swath of destruction across the stars, determined to discover any challenge to his control over the First Order and his destiny to rule over the galaxy—and crush it completely. Meanwhile, to discover the truth, Rey, Finn, Poe, and the Resistance must embark on the most perilous adventure they have ever faced.

Featuring all-new scenes adapted from never-before-seen material, deleted scenes, and input from the filmmakers, the story that began in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and continued in Star Wars: The Last Jedi reaches an astounding conclusion.

New Release Tuesday: Mulan: Before the Sword, The Stationary Shop and Star Trek: Picard

It's New Release Tuesday and I really want to read, Mulan: Before the Sword by Grace Lin, Star Trek: Picard: The Last Best Hope by Una McCormack and The Stationary Shop by Marjan Kamali.

I've watched the trailer for the upcoming Mulan movie so many times, it looks really good and even though I haven't found a description for the book, I'm still interesting in reading it. Since I don't have the CBS streaming service, I can't watch the new Star Trek: Picard TV Series but I can read this book. Who else has this book on their list? I could totally see this being a book club pick, what do you guys think? The third book, The Stationary Shop really seems like it's going to be something rather moving with the focus on lost love.

What new books do want to read?

New Release Tuesday: Belle Révolte, The Gravity of Us and Yes No Maybe So

Who else loves New Release Tuesday? There are three new Young Adult books out today that I want to read: Belle Révolte, The Gravity of Us and Yes No Maybe So.

The description for Belle Révolte by Lindsey Miller seems really interesting and sort of reminds me of The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain with Emillie and Annette switching places and working together to stop a war. Meanwhile, The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper has this big Lois Lane energy as it follows Cal, an aspiring journalist who not only have found love but stumbled on a possible big story surrounding the NASA Mars mission. And the last book, Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed seems like a timely read that follows two teens who go around canvassing neighbors for a local candidate.

Each of these books seem like a good read, I'll add them to my wish list. Hopefully, I'll buy them soon.

Book: Belle Révolte by Linsey Miller

Description:

From the author of the Mask of Shadows duology comes a standalone fantasy where two young women must trade lives, work together to stay alive, and end a war caused by magic and greed.

Emilie des Marais is more at home holding scalpels than embroidery needles and is desperate to escape her noble roots to serve her country as a physician. But society dictates a noble lady cannot perform such gruesome work.

Annette Boucher, overlooked and overworked by her family, wants more from life than her humble beginnings and is desperate to be trained in magic. So when a strange noble girl offers Annette the chance of a lifetime, she accepts.

Emilie and Annette swap lives—Annette attends finishing school as a noble lady to be trained in the ways of divination, while Emilie enrolls to be a physician's assistant, using her natural magical talent to save lives.

But when their nation instigates a terrible war, Emilie and Annette come together to help the rebellion unearth the truth before it's too late.
