Art of the Day: Wonder Woman (New 52)

Artwork: Wonder Woman (DC Comics Cover Girls) by Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau

Regardless of Wonder Woman's poor treatment in the New 52, I liked the updated suit (even though I do miss the bright colors of the original suit). I'm certainly not looking forward to the new suit Diana will be wearing following Convergence, that thing is awful.

Art of the Day: Batgirl (New 52)

Artwork: Batgirl (DC Comics Cover Girls) by Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau

This was one of my favorite costumes for Batgirl, it looked tough and durable but still looked great. I'm not a fan of the recent new costume the character is wearing now (see Batgirl issue #35). It looks really cheap.

Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau did create some artwork with the new costume that actually makes it look good. I will post that at another time.

Art of the Day: Cheetara

Artwork: Justice Magazine - Cheetara by Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau

Who doesn't love the 80's ThunderCats cartoon? I do, it was a much better show than that terrible reboot that was on the Cartoon Network (which was canceled by the way). I also did not like how Cheetara and the rest of the ThunderCats were shown in the reboot. But for Cheetara, she didn't do anything in that series beside being one of the many reasons why Lion-O and Tygra were constantly fighting. Yes, they reduced this amazing character to be nothing but the girl two guys fight over.

In the original series Cheetara was this intelligent, compassionate, kick-butt character who could hold her own in a fight against the many enemies the ThunderCats had. With the reboot showing a weak character who barely did anything besides being a love interest.

Art of the Day: Korra from The Legend of Korra

Artwork: Korra Aura by Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau

Korra is still one of my favorite characters especially when she's written well. I hope the third seasons brings a much better Korra than what was shown in the second season.

Art of the Day: Green Arrow

Artwork: cover art for Justice League: Rise and Fall Special #1 (2010) by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau

Oliver had done the unthinkable by killing Prometheus and had changed everything including everything between him and Dinah.

Art of the Day: Catwoman

Artwork: Catwoman by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau

I'm so tired of DC Comics' lame attempts to garner more sales through shock value. Killing off Catwoman is just another gimmick. This character is way too popular for them to kill off. It's rumored that "Selina Kyle" isn't really Selina Kyle in the new 52. So, most likely this isn't even the real Catwoman that died. And if she is "dead", they will figure out some convoluted story that will bring her back.

Happy Valentine's Day: Three

This is my last Valentine's Day picture. I couldn't pass on the Valentine's Day issue of Birds of Prey with Huntress and Catman.

I can't wait for the new season of The Legend of Korra to start. This was one amazing series and had some really cool characters.

Art of the Day: Batgirl #14 (Stephanie Brown and Kara Kent)

Artwork: cover art for Batgirl issue #14 by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau

Batgirl #14 was one of the best, it had Batgirl and Supergirl fighting a count of 24 Draculas around the college campus and in the city. This was just non-stop funny because it started with Steph being extremely bored playing Scrabble with her mom for their Friday Night Game Night. She's saved from her boring evening when Kara stops by. They decide to have a girl's night and hang out around campus and see an old vampire movie which was now in 3D. A few minutes later, after a science experiment gone wrong, the vampires start appearing. This was just perfect, light hearted and funny mixed with a little zany.

If you get a chance to pick this issue up either in the Batgirl Vol. 2 trade (I'll post a review soon) or from the single issue, I'm sure you will love it.

Art of the Day: Batgirl (Stephanie Brown)

Art Work: cover art for Batgirl issue #12 by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau

I thought the cover for Batgirl #12 was great because it showed that Stephanie might get knocked down but she's never down for the count. Stephanie is another great and fun character that DC Comics decided wasn't useful anymore. Her Batgirl series was really good (I'll include my reviews in later posts) and it showed Steph at her best, upbeat and positive. Something that's surely missing from the New 52.

I understand she can't be Batgirl anymore then why not let her go back to being Spoiler, instead of just shelving her. Not to mention she's no longer even considered a robin anymore.
