Non-Canon Couples Week: Day #2: Leah Clearwater and Jacob Black
To this day, I still don't understand how Twilight author Stephenie Meyer could have made werewolf Jacob Black's love interest Bella Swan and Edward Cullen's human/vampire baby daughter, Renesmee. This was so disappointing on so many levels, especially when werewolf Leah Clearwater would have made the perfect love interest.
Jacob and Leah had a connection that began with a lot of animosity while they were members of Sam Uley's pack. But it gradually started to change with them becoming friends especially once they became unexpected yet effective pack mates in Jacob's pack in order to protect a pregnant Bella Swan against Sam's pack. And during that time, it felt like there was a spark of something more growing between them.
I feel like these two were perfect for each other and the story would have been immensely better for both Leah and Jacob seeing them go from frenemies to falling in love. Instead the author decided to make a baby Jacob's future love interest, which was so weird, Jacob (and Leah) deserved so much better than that.
Besides being werewolves, they both had their hearts broken (hers by Sam and his by Bella) and I think that was something that could have initially built a strong bond between them. It would have allowed both of them a chance to have had a better understanding of each other's pain of dealing with a broken heart. I think it would have made it easier for them to have moved on from their heartbreak and bitterness. Perhaps they would have stopped being so hostile towards each other and become friends a lot sooner.
These two had a fascinating story and amazing chemistry that should have grown from there with them falling in love and realizing it happened without imprinting on each other. I thought imprinting was strange, it felt like it took away someone's ability to choose who they loved. Anyway, I think they have a lot in common and complement each other rather well with both being strong-willed, impulsive, opinionated, loyal, caring and extremely powerful. They would have had an intense and passionate relationship that would have rivaled Bella and Edward's for sure. I also think they would have been the most powerful couple within the Quileute tribe.
It was just so annoying reading the books and seeing a potential relationship between Leah and Jacob that was overlooked in favor of having Jacob imprinting on a baby.

Even though I like Bryce Dallas Howard, I think Rachelle Lefevre gave the best performance as Victoria. I think that if she hadn't been replaced in Eclipse, she certainly would have stolen the movie.

Review:
In this finale book in the Twilight series, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen were preparing for their wedding. With all the planning taking place, there was still Bella's eventual transformation into becoming a vampire to contend with. The decision was made to wait but as the realization started to sink in for Bella it started to seem like she wanted to hold off on changing into a vampire for at least a little while longer. She still wanted to experience a few more things as a human before that happened.

Currently Reading: Breaking Dawn
For some reason, I'm having a bit of a reading slump with middle grade books because this is the second time I have had to postpone reading one. So, instead of forcing myself to finishing President of the Whole Fifth Grade, I'm going to take a break and read something else.
I decided to read Breaking Dawn, I really want to see how the Twilight series ends.

It's Bella Swan's senior year of high school but instead of worrying about the next phase of her life (such as attending college, etc.) the only thing on her mind was becoming a vampire and having an eternal life with Edward Cullen and his family (Carlisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie).

Currently Reading: Eclipse
It's been a while since I've read anything supernatural, I figured I would finally give this a read. I read the first two Twilight books and they were surprisingly good. I'm hoping this one will be too.

Book Review for Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon: New Moon

Review:
Was New Moon a better read than Twilight? Surprisingly it was but there is something very disturbing about Bella Swan. I will go into that a little later but first the review. The sequel opens with Bella not interested in celebrating her birthday but Alice Cullen, who was more excited to celebrate than Bella, put together a party at the Cullen's home. However, a simple paper cut ruined the festivities. In trying to protect Bella from Jasper, Edward made the situation worse when he accidentally pushed her into the table where she ended up cutting her arm and bleeding even more. Bleeding wouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances but being with vampires makes it very life or death. Even though the Cullens have abstained from drinking human blood, the temptation was still too tempting for all of them except Dr. Carlisle.

Currently Reading for Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon: New Moon
I know I'm not the only book nerd who has a long To-Read list and with nothing to do I looked over some of my books. And I noticed that there are a lot that I have not read. My problem is I buy a lot of books but I need to make time to read more of them.
Which is why I'm doing another Tackle Your To Be Read (TBR) Read-a-thon, the last time I did one was two years ago. I already picked 10 books to read but my goal is to read at least 30 books on my To-Read list. I will be starting out with New Moon, I read the first Twilight book last year and was surprised by how much I actually liked it. I hope this one will be a good read too.

Currently Reading: Twilight
I bought this book (and the sequels) three years ago and honestly, I never really thought I would get around to reading it. I was never really a fan of Twilight but I did buy the books.
After check my bookcase, I spotted the first book and decided to give it a read.
