I continue to notice more people choosing not to celebrate the Fourth of July which is why for me it's the Fourth Day of the Month. The former holiday no longer has the meaning it once had. So, today is just a relaxing Saturday where I can think about the day and spend time with my family and friends. Below is a geeky list that features the fourth episode of each season of several shows.
I can't believe I forgot the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender was premiereing this month. I loved the first season and I can't wait to watch this new one. Yes, I already know what's going to happen, since this is an adaptation of the animated series but I'm interested in seeing what scenes they choose to include as well as see if they added anything new. For instance, the first season added Azula instead of waiting to bring her in for the second season as with the original series.
I will be adding this to my already growing list of shows to watch during hiatus. What shows are you watching during this hiatus?

This teaser trailer for the second season of the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender looks fantastic. I've been patiently waiting for a trailer to be released and it was worth the wait seeing Toph Beifong being introduced. And not to jump ahead but I can't wait for the third season. Because I really hope that they will adapt the episode The Runaway (Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series season 3 episode 7). It's where Toph, Sokka and Avatar Aang were conning a bunch of con artists. I just thought that was so funny.
Anyway, as for the second season of the live action version, I'm interested in seeing how much of the Ba Sing Se storyline will be shown. Along with Aang learning Earthbending from Toph, there was so much that happened in the second season in the animated series I just wonder what will be included in the live action. So far, no release date has been given but it will premiere sometime next year.
I'm usually not a big fan of live-action versions of animated shows and movies but I'm trying not to be stodgy or set in my ways because I just might miss out on something. Anyway, I'm really glad I gave the live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender a chance because it turned out to be a really good adaptation. I'm looking forward to seeing what they will do with the second and third seasons.
I like this scene from the first episode because although it's a different take on how Sokka and Katara found the ice bubble that held Avatar Aang. And how he was freed, in the animated series Katara hit the ice bubble with a weapon. While in the live action, I think it was due to her waterbending to try to get their boat. Either way, Katara was the reason he was freed from the ice, it was just a bit more dramatic in the animated series.
- Some good news for Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, Netflix has renewed the live action TV series for a second and third season. The series will end with the third season, which follows the same format as the animated version. According to Netflix, the show had 41.1 million views in the first 11 days of its premiere as well as being the #1 show in 76 countries.
The first season of the live action series followed Avatar Aang and his friends Katara and Sokka on their journey in order for Aang to learn the last three elements (Water, Earth and Fire) so he can fully become The Avatar. I really enjoyed the first season, there's not much I would change except for finding a way to bring Momo back. I'm looking forward to seeing how they will adapt the last two seasons.
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Did you watch anything interesting?
On Sunday, I watched the Avatar: The Last Airbender live action Netflix TV series. And you know what, it turned out to be a pretty good adaptation of the original series. The first season only has eight episodes, so they couldn't show everything such as not including a moment from one of my favorite episodes The Waterbending Scroll (season 1 episode 9). But I can watch that episode anytime. (Edit to add: For some reason, I totally overlooked Katara waterbending with the scroll. I guess next time I won't watch a show so early in the morning. Yes, I am currently re-watching this.)
I will be watching the Netflix live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender TV Series, I just didn't have enough time today to watch it. Although, I'm not a big fan of live action version of animated movies or shows, I am interested in seeing this. I thought the trailer looked good. I want to see if the story will be a little different from the original series. I also want to see how these actors will take on these characters and make it their own as they bring them to life. As a big Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, I want to watch the show and see how this adaption will be. If I don't get a chance to watch it tomorrow, then for sure it will be my weekend watch.
I'm still not a big fan of live-action versions of animated shows and movies especially when the original verison is so perfectly well-made. But the trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender actually looks pretty good. And the trailer alone is definitely 100 times better than that live-action The Last Airbender movie. That movie is still one of the worst adaptations. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching the TV series when it premieres on Thursday, February 22nd on Netflix.
I'm not the biggest fan of live-action versions of animated movies or shows, however looking at the trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender this actually look good. The series will premiere February 22, 2024 on Netflix. And from looking at the trailer, it's already better than that terrible live-action movie The Last Airbender that was released back in 2010. That was one of the worst adaptations, there is nothing even remotely good about it. I don't even understand why that movie was so bad especially since the original source material was available to use as a reference.
And that's why I was a little hesitant about this upcoming new TV series when it was first announced. I was just really hoping it would be good and didn't turn out as terrible as the movie. But the trailer for this looks good. The only issue I have is that the actors cast for Sokka and Katara didn't have a darker complexion since their skin tone in the animated series is a lot browner. At least the casting isn't as bad as the movie but there is still a continued trend of casting actors with a lighter complexion for the roles. Other than that, I'm really interested in seeing this.
