I never stop laughing at this scene from the Our Flag Means Death episode Calypso's Birthday (season 2 episode 6). It has Ed (a.k.a. Blackbeard), in his own way, trying to give some kids a leg up in life. Maybe his approach was a little extreme giving them a bag of money along with some knives. But in the setting of this show, those kids will most likely run into pirates, bandits and anyone else who may try to steal their money. Which is probably why he instructed them on the best way to use the knives.
It's funny that although Stede and Blackbeard are notorious pirates they didn't want the kids to know that. So they lied to them and said they ran an inn. Which funny enough, Ed and Stede planned on doing at the end of the second (and as of now final) season. I do wish this show had not been cancelled, although the fans are trying to save it.

I just wanted to post an update on the Our Flag Means Death petition, it currently has over 85,000 signatures and counting. This is another shows that fans are trying to save, I think the fan campaign is going pretty well. I do hope the show will be saved because there are many stories still to be told.
Fandom has been really busy lately with so many fans trying to save their favorite shows that were cancelled. Some of the most recent fan campaigns are Station 19, Shadow and Bone, Warrior Nun and more. And now, you can add the recently cancelled Our Flag Means Death to the list. Fans of the pirate comedy show have created a petition that currently has over 33,000 signatures and counting.
Whether the shows get saved or not, I love that the fans are trying their best. Here's hoping another network or streaming service will save the shows, if their current owners won't.
- I really wish I didn't have to post this but MAX has cancelled the pirate comedy TV series Our Flag Means Death. The show aired for two seasons and followed the crazy adventures of Stede and Blackbeard and all the crew. The unfortunate news was announced yesterday and has left many fans sad and upset while also hoping they can save the show. This was one of my favorite shows and I'm sad to see it go. Why does it seem like all the interesting shows always get cancelled?
- An update on Entertainment New #37 section on The Emmy Awards was not showing the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series/Special Award during the primetime telecast. The Writers Guild of America released a statement saying that The Television Academy, FOX and the WGA have reached an agreement to include the writing category in the 75th Emmy Awards which will air on Monday, January 15th at 8:00 PM EST on FOX.
It didn't make any sense not to air that category, writing already tends to get overlooked as it is.
There is now official Our Flag Means Death merchandise. As soon as I found out, I had to post it. I don't know when the collection (which so far only has six items) launched but now fans can finally get official merchandise. And I know the first thing that I want, it's this mug. I love it, one side has the show's name/logo and "Every Captain Needs a Mate". While the other side has the second season promo image of Stede and Ed/Blackbeard in a heart shape.
No surprise I want this, I love mugs and watching Our Flag Means Death, so of course this would be the first thing I'd get. I do hope at some point a tote bag will be released because that's also something I would get.
Okay, this second season for Our Flag Means Death which will premiere Thursday, October 5th on HBO Max, looks good. I guess the Edward Teach is truly living up to his terrorizing legend as the evil pirate Blackbeard. I’m thinking I may have to rewatch the first season in anticipation of this upcoming season 2. It's been a while since I've watched it and I want to immerse myself back into the stories and all the weird and zany characters again. I really can't wait to see this.
It feels like it's been forever since the first season of Our Flag Means Death aired. And so far the premiere date for the second season hasn't been announced. The only information that's been released is that it may air sometime this year.
This show has been on my mind lately, which is why I wanted to post this Our Flag Means Death relaxing video by Xray Vex. It doesn't have to be lazy Sunday to relax, this is a little over eight hours of Stede's library fireplace with ambient sound. You definitely don't have to use all eight hours but if you need to unwind at the end of the day or need a little relaxing background noise while you read or work, you can put on this fandom inspired video.
It's the first day of April and I hope this will be a good month and we all have fun enjoying every day of it. With that said, what are some of your fandom thoughts?
- I can't believe how popular the HBO Max comedy Our Flag Means Death has become. According to reports it's the most in-demand new series in the US right now. I just started watching it today. I'm currently on the fourth episode and so far it is really funny. I can see why so many fans and viewers have been enjoying this show.
I love finding new shows and one I've been hearing non-stop good things about is the comedy Our Flag Means Death. I believe there's only 10 episodes for the first season and if the reception for the show has been being so positive maybe it'll be renewed for a second season. Anyway, the trailer definitely looks funny and if the show is as funny as it is then I can't wait to see it.
