Happy Vote Day! (+ My Vote Day Watch Party List)

Today, I will be going to vote (I hope you did or will be) and since I'm sure the lines will be long, I will be taking my favorite Voting Day reading material Batgirl: The Greatest Stories Ever Told. I love all the stories in this book and there are several that feature Barbara Gordon running for Congress. She believed that going into politics would give her a bigger opportunity to make a difference and not just in small ways as being a superhero.

Throughout the day to avoid stressing out over the poll results I'm going to have a Vote Day Watch Party. I will be watching a few political themed movies, a miniseries and a few episodes from some of my favorite shows. I may not get to watch everything but I'll do my best. I already have plenty of snacks in the kitchen all I have do is figure out what to watch first.

Hopefully by the end of the evening, I will be a more calm and relaxed person when the election results are in.

Here's my list and please, don't forget to go VOTE:

Movies:

The Makeover (DVD)

The Makeover is a Hallmark movie that's a retelling of the classic story Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw but with a political take on it. I really like this movie, it's an interesting take on the romantic dramedy and it has a great cast.

Movie Description:

Hannah Higgins (Julia Stiles) attempts to turn blue-collar Boston beer vendor Elliot Doolittle (David Walton) into a viable candidate and inadvertently learns something of Elliot's side of life.

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde  (DVD)

I have not seen this movie in a long time and this Election Day is a good excuse to pull it off the shelf. Even though I didn't think this sequel was as good as the first movie but it's still a fun watch.

Movie Description:

When Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) discovers that her lovable chihuahua Bruiser's mom is locked in a cruel animal testing facility, she heads to D.C. to fight for animal rights, give Washington a makeover and prove once and for all that America really is the land of the free...and the home of the blonde!

Miniseries:

Political Animals   (DVD)

All six episodes of this miniseries center around Secretary of State and former first lady Elaine Barrish Hammond (Sigourney Weaver) and her family. Although she's SoS, Elaine is planning on a second attempt at running for President. Political Animals is loosely based on the Clintons, it was a good series but it didn't quite take with fans. I'm sure if the miniseries had returned Elaine would have become Madam President.

TV Series:

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (DVD)

Lois Lane has an opportunity to interview the President but the Prankster may ruin her plans.

Season 2 episode 15: Return of the Prankster

Smallville (DVD)

From Clark Kent running for class president in season 1 to Lois Lane in the 5th season going up against a fanatic Lex Luthor campaign volunteer to the finale season seeing the Vigilante Registration Act (VRA) possibly being sanctioned on superheroes. Three episodes that deal with a range of politics.

Season 1 episode 18: Drone
Season 5 episode 10: Fanatic
Season 10 episode 13: Beacon

Sex and the City  (DVD)

Carrie Bradshaw got an interesting and eye-opening look into the world of politics when she meets politician Bill Kelly.

Season 3 episode 1: Where There's Smoke...
Season 3 episode 2: Politically Erect

Batman  (DVD)

When the Penguin decides to run for Mayor no one in Gotham City will win. It will be up to the Dynamic Duo to stop him. I just love watching this old show.

Season 2 episode 17: Hizzonner the Penguin
Season 2 episode 18: Dizzoner the Penguin

Veronica Mars (DVD)

Veronica Mars investigates the school election because someone may have rigged it.

Season 1 episode 6: Return of the Kane

Good Times (Xfinity)

This episode has Evans vs Evans as the family gets involved in a local political race.

Season 3 episode 9: The Politicians

Gilmore Girls (DVD)

Poor Rory, crazy Paris roped her into running with her for the school election. No surprise there especially when none of the kids at school actually like Paris.

Season 2 episode 22: I Can't Get Started

The Jeffersons (Xfinity)

Louise Jefferson has her heart set on running for President of the Tenants' Council but so does her husband George.

Season 11 episode 4: A House Divided

Wonder Woman (DVD)

Diana Prince goes undercover at a luxury spa as a newly wed to find out who has been stealing government secrets.

Season 2 episode 8: I Do, I Do

Gossip Girl (DVD)

It's been a while since I've seen this episode but I do remember Nate's cousin was running for something and their grandfather was going to do everything possible to make sure he won.

Season 3 episode 8: The Grandfather: Part II

Charlie's Angels (DVD)

These two episodes have a political focus with Angels on a String find the detectives looking into a political leader who was staying at a resort. And in Terror on Skis finds a group of extremists trying to abduct the President's Special Envoy to the United Nations.

Season 1 episode 15: Angels on a String
Season 3 episode 16: Terror on Skis

Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Adventures (Netflix)

When Princess Berrykin is away from Berry Bitty City someone will have to take over her duties for the Berryfest. To find out who will be the Berryfest Princess they will have an election.

Season 1 episode 11: Berry Best BerryFest Princess
