Video: Veronica Mars Theme Song and Opening Credits

I haven't rewatched Veronica Mars in a long time but lately I've been thinking about it. This is such a good show that I wish had stayed on longer than three seasons. It's an eye-opening gritty mystery series centered around high school student Veronica Mars.

It might have only had three seasons but it did return a few years later with: a movie (which is very good), two books (I reviewed one of them Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham) and a revival season on Hulu (which I still haven't seen).

I don't know why I've been thinking about this show but I ended up finding this video of the theme song and opening credits. Although the theme song "We Used to Be Friends" by The Dandy Warhols wasn't written for the show but it really is a perfect fit for it.

DVD Tuesday: Veronica Mars Season 1 and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

It's DVD Tuesday, what are you getting? I want to get the first season of Veronica Mars and the Wonder Woman: Bloodlines animated movie.

Sometimes I feel like Veronica Mars causes as much trouble as she does solving problems but that's what makes her an interesting character. When the Veronica Mars revival premiered on Hulu in July, I didn't get around to watching it. Even though I have Hulu, I still want to get the DVD to watch the show.

Wonder Woman was always popular but I think the 2017 movie helped boost her popularity even more especially to new fans. I want to see Bloodlines because it has a different take on Wonder Woman's origin story and it should be interesting to watch.

Veronica Mars Season 1

Happy Vote Day! (+ My Vote Day Watch Party List)

Today, I will be going to vote (I hope you did or will be) and since I'm sure the lines will be long, I will be taking my favorite Voting Day reading material Batgirl: The Greatest Stories Ever Told. I love all the stories in this book and there are several that feature Barbara Gordon running for Congress. She believed that going into politics would give her a bigger opportunity to make a difference and not just in small ways as being a superhero.

Throughout the day to avoid stressing out over the poll results I'm going to have a Vote Day Watch Party. I will be watching a few political themed movies, a miniseries and a few episodes from some of my favorite shows. I may not get to watch everything but I'll do my best. I already have plenty of snacks in the kitchen all I have do is figure out what to watch first.

Hopefully by the end of the evening, I will be a more calm and relaxed person when the election results are in.

Here's my list and please, don't forget to go VOTE:

365 Days of Books of Interest: Day #61: Veronica Mars: The Thousand Dollar Tan Line

Veronica Mars is one of my favorite detectives, she's very witty, clever and not to mention extremely sarcastic.

Although, I read the series out of order, thanks to getting an opportunity to read an advanced copy of the second book Mr. Kiss and Tell, I have not forgotten about wanting to read this first book. Both books take place after the Veronica Mars movie and if you have not had a chance to see, I would really recommend watching it. It's rather good.

Book: The Thousand Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars book #1) by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham

Description:

From Rob Thomas, the creator of the television series and movie phenomenon Veronica Mars, comes the first book in a thrilling mystery series that picks up where the feature film left off.

Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is no simple missing person’s case; the house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

Happy Christmas Eve! (+ Some Geeky Christmas Shows to Watch)

Happy Christmas Eve, if you're anything like me and still need to wrap gifts (or buy a few last minute gifts). Don't get stressed out. Whether you're with family and friends or by yourself, have fun wrapping gifts. To make the most of it why not play Christmas music or watch some of your favorite Christmas movies or TV shows. Lay out snacks, bake cookies or do whatever it is that will make you relax and enjoy the moment.

Need a little bit of geeky inspiration for Christmas shows and movie to watch, here are just a small selection of some my favorites:

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

Season 2 episode 9: Season Greedings
Season 3 episode 11: Home is Where the Hurt Is
Season 4 episode 11: 'Twas the Night Before Mxymas

Book Review: Neptune Noir: Unauthorized Investigations into Veronica Mars

Book: Neptune Noir: Unauthorized Investigations into Veronica Mars, edited by Rob Thomas with essays written by various writers

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication Date: Available now

Publisher: Smart Pop Books

Rating: 2 1/2 stars

Review:

Even now when I think of Veronica Mars there are a couple of things that pop into my mind, first is the theme song and second is that Veronica was no doormat. Yeah, she did a lot of questionable things (mainly for those who were in need of help) but Neptune was a questionable place to live. While helping out her father, who was a private investigator, she learned more than she did sitting in most of her classes.

This was an interesting book that featured 18 essays written by fans, writers, TV insiders, etc. that focused on the first two seasons of Veronica Mars.

There were a few very well-written essays that made me remember why I had enjoyed watching this show however there were far more that made me wonder why I was still reading this. Many of the essays were written in such a boring clinical way that they started to blend together and feel like a chore to read. There was one that made me mad, in one essay the writer compared the pain of her high school break up to how Veronica felt after being raped. Heartbreak...rape, I'm not really sure you can even compare the two.

In the end, this was okay but I would just rewatch the TV series instead of reading this again. There were some good things about this but not enough to make this a must read.

Currently Reading: Neptune Noir: Unauthorized Investigations into Veronica Mars

There is just something about Veronica Mars that makes me a huge fan of the character, maybe it's the blatant way she thumbs her nose at the crooked authority in her town or her simple desire to seek out the truth. Which is why I'm eager to read this, it's filled with numerous essays about both the character and the show (well the first two seasons).

Reading this should be interesting to see how others view Veronica Mars.

Description:

Veronica Mars has won the hearts of a small but devoted fanbase drawn to Veronica’s class-torn hometown, where the high school landscape echoes adult patterns of power and privilege, and your best bet for justice is a teenage girl and her private detective father. The show is so snarky, so smart, and so savvy, that the detective show’s biggest mystery is why more people aren’t watching.

This collection of essays on the show’s first two seasons explores the noir roots of Veronica’s blond locks, and the sharp writing and killer plot twists that have catapulted Veronica Mars to the top of smart viewers’ must-watch lists.

Book Review: Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell

Book: Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars book #2) by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication: January 20, 2015

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Veronica Mars found herself dealing with a case that brought back horrible memories. She was hired by the Preuess Insurance Company who represent The Neptune Grand hotel, they wanted her to disprove a young woman's claim that she was raped by an employee of the hotel. However Veronica wanted to do more than that she wanted to bring in the attacker.

This wasn't going to be an easy case for her not with the employee in question unable to be reached. While she was off trying to figure out the best way to approach this case, her father and investigative partner Keith was trying to put together a case against corrupt Sheriff Dan Lamb and the police department for Eli "Weevil" Navarro. Weevil had been arrested and had falsified evidence used against him to try to get a conviction.

As Veronica's investigation started to heat up there were more and more secrets that were being unveiled but every bit of information she gathered was making it appear harder to close this case.

If I said this was well-written that would be an understatement because this book is exceptional. It's definitely more mature since all the characters are older and the subject matter that the book deals with but I wasn't disappointed at all with reading this. Many familiar faces show up in this story but I found that all the characters stay in character but you can tell they have grown.

Even if you have never seen one episode of Veronica Mars or seen the movie, this book is written so that the reader can easily figure out who each character is and what they are about. This story is full of suspense and drama with a very intense mystery.

There is only one issue I had with the story, it appears the author may have the idea to involve a love triangle for Veronica, it's hinted at. But I hope this idea is not expanded on in the next book. Veronica's love life is nearly perfect (I do not want to mention any spoilers) and doesn't need to be ruined with the dreaded love triangle.

I would definitely recommend this book but maybe not to younger readers for the subject matter.

Currently Reading: Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell

The Veronica Mars show was something different and the character was unique she like a young Lois Lane always looking for answers. I like that the Veronica in this new book series is the one from the movie (if you haven't seen it please do, it's good). This is an older (she's 29), wiser yet still the same old Veronica Mars. Reading this should be fun.

Book: Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars book #2) by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication: January 20, 2015

Description:

In the second book in the New York Times bestselling mystery series, Veronica Mars is back with a case that will expose the hidden workings of one of Neptune’s most murderous locations.

The Neptune Grand has always been the seaside town’s ritziest hotel, despite the shady dealings and high-profile scandals that seem to follow its elite guests. When a woman claims that she was brutally assaulted in one of its rooms and left for dead by a staff member, the owners know that they have a potential powder keg on their hands. They turn to Veronica to disprove—or prove—the woman's story.

The case is a complicated mix of hard facts, mysterious occurrences, and uncooperative witnesses. The hotel refuses to turn over its reservation list and the victim won’t divulge who she was meeting that night. Add in the facts that the attack happened months ago, the victim’s memory is fuzzy, and there are holes in the hotel’s surveillance system, and Veronica has a convoluted mess on her hands. As she works to fill in the missing pieces, it becomes clear that someone is lying—but who? And why?

Since the release of the Veronica Mars movie, the series seems to be making a come back of sort with books. Really looking forward to reading this.

DVD Pick: The Veronica Mars Movie

I was at the store yesterday and I can't believe I forgot to pick up The Veronica Mars Movie. If I don't get out today to get it, I'm going to at least try to buy it before the sale ends.

Veronica Mars is just one of those characters you root for. I can't wait to see this.
