Quote: Anakin Skywalker

You're reckless, little one. You never would have made it as Obi-Wan’s Padawan. But you might make it as mine.

LEGO Star Wars Holiday Short "All I Want For Life Day" (Video)

I know I said I wasn't going to post anything about Christmas until after Thanksgiving but I made an exception for this Star Wars Life Day short All I Want for Life Day. As soon as I saw it, I just had to post it. Plus, I figured we could all do with something fun to watch.

This is so cute, Anakin is trying to find Obi-Wan the perfect gift. Do you think he succeeded or only caused more trouble?

Revenge of the 5th: The Ultimate Fight: Anakin Skywalker vs Obi-Wan Kenobi

It's Revenge of the 5th and I wanted to post something about one of my favorite movies, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. This movie shows you the sorrow and drama of the unfortunate take over of Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, the demise of the Jedi and continued downward spiral of Anakin Skywalker. And you see one of the best fights in the entire Star Wars movie series, Obi-Wan Kenobi versus Anakin on Mustafar. I'll give honorable mention to Palpatine's two separate fights between Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Yoda as well as Obi-Wan's fight against General Grievous. All three fights were pretty awesome.

Now back to Anakin and Obi-Wan's fight, this was truly spectacular. Anakin was using his anger to fuel his fight against Obi-Wan. However, his former Jedi Master had years of training on his side and not to mention Anakin let his overconfidence fool him into thinking he could win. And we all see how that turned out for him. Despite Obi-Wan's best efforts which left his former Padawan severely injured and near death, Anakin, however, was not to be defeated that day. He would soon take on a new horrifying appearance as Darth Vader and would reign terror throughout the galaxy.

Things may have gone exceptionally wrong for the Jedi and galaxy in this movie but at the end you see there is still hope that one day the Empire and Sith will be stopped.

The Tragic Downfall of Padmé Amidala

Sometimes I think about how Padmé Amidala missed so many red flags about Anakin Skywalker. He had so many issues which includes his overwhelming infatuation/obsession and stalkerish tendencies towards her. Padmé's love for Anakin caused her to overlook this and more, for instance in the second Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones, she comforted Anakin while they were on Tatooine after he told her he had killed all the Tusken Raiders. The Raiders had kidnapped his mother Shimi and she died from her injuries after he found her. However, instead of trying to deal with the situation the Jedi way, he angrily and impulsively killed the entire group. There wasn't even any thought or consideration that there may have been Raiders who were not involved with Shimi's abduction.

Book Review: Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader

Book: Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader by Ryder Windham

Edition: Digital

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader is a fast-paced and exciting story that gives readers a glimpse into the life of Anakin Skywalker and his later transformation into the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Although the story includes slight recaps of the Star Wars movies I-VI, there is new information woven throughout. As the story begins, it follows a young Anakin Skywalker and his mother Shmi arriving with other slaves to the planet Tatooine to work for Gardulla the Hut. Anakin and Shmi's ownership changed to Watto, a Toydarian due to Gardulla losing a bet to him.

Under new ownership things changed a little bit where Watto housed them in a single home at Slave Quarters Row instead of the place being filled with other unfortunate souls. Anakin also worked at Watto's parts dealership buying, selling and repairing tech for the Toydarian. And Shmi was able to make additional income by cleaning computer memory devices. Despite the betting living conditions, the Skywalkers were under no delusion about their lives, it might be better working for Watto than for Gardulla but they knew that they were still slaves.

Anakin's skill with controlling a Podracer had Watto seeing more opportunity to make money gambling on the races. In between working for Watto, racing in Podraces and secretly building his own racer, Ani was repairing a Protocol Droid. But his skills in Podracing came in handy when a small group of strangers arrived at Watto's shop looking for parts for a Naboo starship.

Anakin found out more about the strangers when he invited them to his home in order to wait out a sandstorm. The group included a young human woman named Padmé, a human man a Jedi named Qui-Gon Jinn, a young Gungan man named Jar Jar Binks and an astromech droid R2-D2.

Thanks to Anakin's help in winning the Podrace they were able to get the parts they needed and he was able to gain his freedom. This was bittersweet for Anakin because he was free but the same could not be said for his mother. Despite Qui-Gon's negotiations with Watto, he wasn't able to free her.

Things progressed over the years with Anakin immersed in his Jedi training but at 20 years old something new was changing for him. He found himself falling in love with the former Queen now Senator of Naboo, Padmé Amidala.

There were many forces that were drawing Anakin closer to The Dark Side such as his secret love with Padmé; the death of his mother and his reaction to it; Chancellor Palpatine's "guidance and influence" and the never ending growing darkness within him. Once he completely embraced The Dark Side, he was Anakin no more, he had become Darth Vader.

By the time the Rebel Alliance was underway, Darth Vader's terrifying reputation precedes him. But Vader and Emperor Palpatine would soon meet their match against the latest group of rebels which included Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C3PO.

This was a good and well-written read and I enjoyed reading the additional scenes that coincide with the movie scenes. And not to mention gaining insight into Anakin/Vader's thoughts throughout the story and during the interlude. As in the movie Return of the Jedi, Anakin's redemption is shown but the story delves a bit more into it. The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader tells a heartbreaking story of one who should have been a hero but became enticed by the very thing he was supposed to fight.

Currently Reading: Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader

I have not always had the best luck with reading Star Wars books. The ones I have read have been a mixture of good and bad but so far that hodgepodge of quality hasn't stopped me from wanting to read more Star Wars books.

I'm really looking forward to starting The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader and I'm hoping it will be a good read.

I'm usually all about the heroes but I would totally wear this Darth Vader Cape Jacket. It's definitely something I would gravitate to because it's very geek chic. I'd pair this with a t-shirt, jeans and cool pair of sneaker or boots.

Book Review: Star Wars: Dark Lord

Book: Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (Star Wars: The Dark Lord Trilogy book #3) by James Luceno

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

All I can say is, wow this was amazing! It's hard to image that this is the same author who wrote that less than stellar Star Wars: Tarkin book. This was so good that I didn't want to put it down, I had to know what was going to happen next.

This story not only focused on Darth Vader's descent into the Dark Side as he becomes more and more accustomed to his new life as a Sith but also on a small group of Jedi who had managed to survive Order 66.

The book opens with Jedi Masters Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak, Padawan Olee Starstone and clone troopers as they try to invade a separatist stronghold but just as they were about to succeed at their task, the troopers turn on them. Thanks to some troopers who didn't agree with the Order, the three Jedi were able to get away. However, they were still trapped on the planet with no foreseeable way to leave. Quick thinking from the Jedi had them changing their clothes to those of mercenaries but they were still caught but thankfully the troopers didn't take too much notice and rounded them up with the other mercenaries.

Their small bit of luck was quickly turning into dread when the Emperor's new right hand Darth Vader showed up. His visit brought about the death of one of the Jedi and the clones that allowed them to get away. Luck was still with the remaining Jedi Master and the Padawan but time was running out and they needed to get away fast.

Thanks to help from an unlikely contact, the Jedi were able to evade capture but this set in motion a series of events that will have them trying to stay ahead of Darth Vader. The story also gave some attention to Emperor Palpatine, Bail Organa, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Tarkin, C-3PO and R2-D2.

I really like this story because it was exciting, fast-paced and well written. I thought that all the characters were very well-written and had good development. I like that many of the characters that readers are familiar with were completely in character. You also get to see how Vader was thinking as he let go of his old life as Anakin Skywalker and fully embraced the Dark Side.

The author really did a fantastic job with this story. I'm really glad I lucked up on finding this, I hope in the future I find more Star Wars books that are as good as this one.

Currently Reading: Star Wars: Dark Lord

I love Star Wars, been a fan since I was a little kid. Although I'm a huge fan, I have only read a few books and those have been hit or miss with me. I heard that this was a good one and hopefully it will be.

Book: Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (Star Wars: The Dark Lord Trilogy book #3) by James Luceno

Description:

Throughout the galaxy, it was believed that Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker–the Chosen One–had died on Coruscant during the siege of the Jedi Temple. And, to some extent, that was true. Anakin was dead.

From the site of Anakin Skywalker’s last stand–on the molten surface of the planet Mustafar, where he sought to destroy his friend and former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi–a fearsome specter in black has risen. Once the most powerful Knight ever known to the Jedi Order, he is now a disciple of the dark side, a lord of the dreaded Sith, and the avenging right hand of the galaxy’s ruthless new Emperor. Seduced, deranged, and destroyed by the machinations of the Dark Lord Sidious, Anakin Skywalker is dead . . . and Darth Vader lives.

Word of the events that created him–the Jedi Council’s failed mutiny against Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the self-crowned Emperor’s retaliatory command to exterminate the Jedi Order, and Anakin’s massacre of his comrades and Masters in the Jedi Temple–has yet to reach all quarters. On the Outer Rim world of Murkhana, Jedi Masters Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak and Padawan Olee Starstone are leading a charge on a Separatist stronghold, unaware that the tide, red with Jedi blood, has turned suddenly against them.

When the three narrowly elude execution–and become the desperate prey in a hunt across space–it’s neither clone soldiers, nor the newly deployed stormtroopers, nor even the wrath of the power-hungry Emperor himself they must fear most. The deadliest threat rests in the hideously swift and lethal crimson lightsaber of Darth Vader–behind whose brooding mask lies a shattered heart, a poisoned soul, and a cunning, twisted mind hell-bent on vengeance.

For the handful of scattered Jedi, survival is imperative if the light side of the Force is to be protected and the galaxy somehow, someday reclaimed. Yet more important still is the well-being of the twin infants, Leia and Luke Skywalker, the children of Anakin and his doomed bride, Padmé Amidala. Separated after Padmé’s death, they must be made safe at all costs, lest the hope they represent for the future be turned to horror by the new Sith regime–and the unspeakable power of the dark side.
