On My List: November 6th

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful and restful weekend. I wanted to post a few things that are On MY List:

Books I Want to Read (But Just Haven't Bought Yet):

This week's group of books are comic books and graphic novels. First, is a Princess Azula one-shot/stand-alone Avatar: The Last Airbender story. Second, is the fifth volume of Heartstoppers and last is the first volume of Wonder Woman by George Pérez. All three are books that I really want to read.

Book: Avatar: The Last Airbender: Azula in the Spirit Temple by Faith Erin Hicks and illustrations by Peter Wartman and Adele Matera

Description:

A brand new stand-alone comics story from the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Azula continues her destabilizing campaign against the Fire Nation and her brother, Fire Lord Zuko.

But after a failed attack on her latest target, Azula finds herself in a mysterious forest temple inhabited by a solitary monk…or is it something more mysterious? Azula must confront her past, and finally face her chance at redemption.

Book: Heartstopper volume #5 written and illustrated by Alice Oseman

Publication Date: December 19, 2023

Description:

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. The bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between: this is the fifth volume of the much-loved HEARTSTOPPER series, featuring gorgeous two-color artwork.

Nick and Charlie are very much in love. They’ve finally said those three little words, and Charlie has almost persuaded his mum to let him sleep over at Nick’s house... but with Nick going off to university next year, is everything about to change?

By Alice Oseman, winner of the YA Book Prize, Heartstopper encompasses all the small moments of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make up something larger, which speaks to all of us.

Contains discussions around mental health and eating disorders, and sexual references.

Book: Wonder Woman volume #1 by George Pérez

Description:

Once upon a time, the world’s greatest heroine was reimagined by a comic book legend.

More than forty years after debuting in ALL STAR COMICS #8, the Wonder Woman was reshaped by the legendary George Pérez and returned to the public eye in 1986. She was met with such acclaim that Pérez’s original commitment of six months was extended, and extended, until almost five years had passed. In collaboration with co-writer Len Wein and inker Bruce Patterson, Pérez spearheaded Wonder Woman’s adventures for years, leading her to an unprecedented level of success.

Now these groundbreaking tales are available in the first of a series of trade paperbacks, collecting WONDER WOMAN #1-14 with bonus material including a Who’s Who of Wonder Woman’s world and an art gallery.

TV Show I Want to Rewatch:

Firefly

I haven't watched Firefly is quite a while. It's one of those really good shows that got cancelled way too soon. What I like is that thanks to constant fan interest in the show, a big screen movie Serenity would later get released a few years after Firefly was cancelled. Not many cancelled shows ever get a movie let alone one that's really good. But I'm glad this one did. Anyway, I really like Firfly and I just want to watch this short lived series again.

Starring: Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass and more

Description:

Five hundred years in the future, a renegade crew aboard a small spacecraft tries to survive as they travel the unknown parts of the galaxy and evade warring factions as well as authority agents out to get them.

Movie I Want to Watch:

65

I didn't see 65 when it was released in theatres but I thought the movie seemed interesting and trailer looked good. I like sci-fi, hench why I want to rewatch Firefly, anyway I want to see 65. I want to know how Mills ended up on Earth 65 million years in the past? And if him and Koa will figure out a way to survive?

Starring: Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, Chloe Coleman, Nika King and Brian Dare

Directors: Scott Beck and Bryan Woods

Writers: Scott Beck and Bryan Woods

Description:

After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills quickly discovers he's actually stranded on Earth -- 65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at a rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa, must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures.
