Book of Interest: Wonder Woman: The Official Cookbook

Happy Friday!

I love fandom cookbooks and trying some of the recipes that are inspired by the book, movie, show or characters. Some of the ones that I have are:

- Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook by Elena Craig and Kristen Mulrooney (I still want to get Gilmore Girls: Sookie's Recipe Book)
- I also have the three Eat Like a Gilmore unofficial cookbooks by Kristi Carlson:
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Gilmore Girls
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: Daily Cravings
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: Seasons
- Black Panther The Official Wakanda Cookbook by Nyanyika Banda with foreword by Jesse J. Holland
- The Nancy Drew Cookbook: Clues to Good Cooking by Carolyn Keene (I found this one at a thrift store)
- The Anne of Green Gables Cookbook: Charming Recipes from Anne and Her Friends in Avonlea by Kate Macdonald

And now, I've been thinking of getting the Wonder Woman: The Official Cookbook by Briana Volk. What I found interesting is that this cookbook has only vegetarian recipes. I guess there's so much information about the characters that it's easy to not know something. Because I didn't realize Diana was vegetarian. I know Poison Ivy is vegetarian (or vegan) but it never knew that about Diana. Well, I guess you learn something new everyday. I'm interested to see what recipes are in the book. Are they more Greek inspired or just generic recipes with Wonder Woman related names added on?

Book of Interest: Eat What You Watch: A Cook Book for Movie Lovers

Two things I really enjoy is watching movies and finding different recipes to try. And this cookbook, Eat What You Watch combines both interest with movie inspired recipes. I've never seen any of the movies listed in the description (yeah, I can't believe I haven't seen Sixteen Candles) but I did recently buy When Harry Met Sally. I think it'll be interesting to see what other movies and recipes are featured in this book. I'm sure I'll find some more new to me movies I might want to watch if not at least I can try the recipes.

Book of Interest: The Official Downton Abbey Cookbook

I love watching Downton Abbey but I haven't finished watching it yet. I found that most of the trouble most of the characters get into is caused by boredom, greed, jealousy, their own self-importance or many other reasons. I really loved watching this show but some how I fell behind and the last time I watched it was during the third season. So, I definitely need to get caught up on the series and watch the movie.

I also want to get this Downton Abbey cookbook, between all the problems the characters had and all gorgeous clothes, the show focused a good amount of time on food. Which is why I'm not surprised that a cookbook was released. I'm not sure about trying all of the recipes but I would like to see what type of dessert recipes are featured.

Book: The Official Downton Abbey Cookbook by Annie Gray with Foreword by Gareth Neame

Description:

The Official Downton Abbey Cookbook presents over 100 recipes that showcase the cookery and customs of the Crawley household—from upstairs dinner party centerpieces to downstairs puddings and pies—and bring an authentic slice of Downton Abbey to modern kitchens and Downton fans.

Whether adapted from original recipes of the period, replicated as seen or alluded to on screen, or typical of the time, all the recipes reflect the influences found on the Downton Abbey tables. Food historian Annie Gray gives a rich and fascinating insight into the background of the dishes that were popular between 1912 and 1926, when Downton Abbey is set —a period of tremendous change and conflict, as well as culinary development.

With a foreword by Gareth Neame, executive producer and co-creator of Downton Abbey, and featuring over 100 stunning color photographs, The Downton Abbey Cookbook also includes a special section on hosting Downton-themed dinner parties and presents stills from across the TV series as well as the latest film. Notes on the etiquette and customs of the times, quotes from the characters, and descriptions of the scenes in which the foods appear provide vivid context for the dishes.

The recipes are grouped by occasion, which include breakfast; luncheons and suppers; afternoon tea and garden parties; picnics, shoots and race meets; festivities; upstairs dinner; downstairs dinner; downstairs supper and tea; and the still room.

Book of Interest: Young & Hungry: Your Complete Guide to a Delicious Life

Lately, I have really gotten into cooking and baking and finding a lot of different recipes online. I will admit that sometimes it's a bit of a hassle going online trying to find recipes, which is why I love cookbooks because there's a bunch of recipes all in one book.

Since my latest obsession has me looking for cookbooks, I figure why not share the ones that interest me. I recently started re-watching the TV series Young & Hungry on Netflix, I like the show it's really funny. It's not a real re-watch since I only watched the first couple of episodes when the show first premiered on ABC Family (now Freeform). Anyway, I had no idea the show was inspired by a real person and I'm very interested in getting this book. According to the description, it's a lifestyle/cookbook which sounds pretty cool. I will be adding this to my wishlist, hopefully, it has some really good recipes in it.

But to family, friends, and co-stars he's always been a terrific father and skilled home cook who prepares delicious meals for his family every night.

Freddie grew up in New Mexico cooking with his mother and eating dishes with a ton of flavor and spice from his Puerto Rican heritage. His eggs come New Mexico style, served with from-scratch biscuits and green-chile gravy. His tacos are the real deal: soft tortillas, homemade salsa, filled with steak layered with quick-pickled cucumbers, or spicy fish dressed with watermelon and thai chiles. Now in this family-focused cookbook, Freddie teaches fans to cook his mainstays, the recipes that he makes on even the busiest weeknights, as well as more luxurious date night meals.

With personal family photos from Freddie and Sarah's beautiful LA home and Freddie's hilarious stories about the life of an actor, husband, and father in Hollywood, Back to the Kitchen shares more than just recipes. It’s an inside look at a beloved movie and TV personality who has acted, cooked, and eaten his way around the world.

Book of Interest: The Little Paris Kitchen (Cookbook)

I should be finished with The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring this Sunday. I've been a bit busy and had a few reading breaks. I'll post the review up either Sunday or Monday.

I love watching The Little Paris Kitchen on the Cooking channel. Rachel makes cooking seem fun and the food doesn't look too hard to prepare either. I rarely buy cookbooks but I think I would like to give the recipes a try.

Book: The Little Paris Kitchen by Rachel Khoo

Book Description:

Rachel Khoo serves up a modern twist on classic French cooking

Rachel Khoo was determined to get to grips with French cooking, so to learn more she moved to Paris, not speaking a word of French, and enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu, the world-famous cookery school. Six years later, she still lives and works in Paris, cooking up a selection of classic French dishes from all over the country and giving them a fresh makeover with her own modern twists. From a Croque Madame muffin and the classic Boeuf bourguignon, to a deliciously fragrant Provencal lavender and lemon roast chicken, Rachel celebrates the culinary landscape of France as it is today and shows how simple these dishes are.

The 120 recipes in the book range from easy, everyday dishes like Omelette Pipérade, to summer picnics by the Seine and afternoon 'goûter' (snacks), to meals with friends and delicious desserts including classics like Crème brulee and Tarte tatin. It's a book that celebrates the very best of French home-cooking in a modern and accessible way. Real French food is no longer something only served in fancy restaurants; Rachel will show how you can add a little French culinary touch to your everyday life at home, no matter where you are in the world, or how big your kitchen is!
