Characters Reading: Lydia Martin

It's been a while since I've rewatched the fifth season of Teen Wolf but I remember that Malia Tate was the one who had found the book The Dread Doctors by T.R. McCammon in Tracy Stewart's bedroom in the episode Condition Terminal (season 5 episode 4). Looking back at the fifth season, I'm not sure if this book was a helpful clue into The Dread Doctors as it should have been. Because it was certainly harmful when each member of the McCall pack (Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, Kira Yukimura and Malia Tate) read the book almost all of them (I'm not sure about Malia) experienced bad experiences and memories that they had somehow forgotten (see Required Reading season 5 episode 6).

Anyway, in the fifth episode A Novel Approach, Malia after attempting to read it (and not really understanding it) must have given the book to Lydia Martin as they were heading into school. Lydia was looking the book over while they were trying to figure out more about it. And wondering how it connects to the pack's current situation dealing with The Dread Doctors and whether the book is a fictional tale that may have inspired their current horrors or something very prophetic.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #20: Lydia Martin and Jordan Parrish, Bonnie Bennett, Buck, Eddie and Lucy

Happy Friday! It's been an interesting week, which is why I'd love to know what are some of your fandom thoughts?

- I'm actually starting to get excited about the upcoming Teen Wolf movie. It's going to air on Paramount+ and at the moment there is not official premiere date. I'm really hoping it will have a good script and a bigger budget to really make this a good movie. I also hope that Lydia Martin and Jordan Parrish will finally get a chance to be together because I thought they had so much chemistry in the show. It will be interesting to see what these characters have been up to since the series ended. I'm hoping Lydia wouldn't still be with her high school boyfriend Stiles Stilinski because once they got together in the finale season they didn't really have any romantic chemistry together. I always thought they were better as friends. I guess I'll see, once the movie airs.

Four Effortless Spring Hairstyles

What's something you love about Spring? I love that there is always this feeling of renewal and new beginnings. I also love that this time of the year feels light and effortless which can apply to hairstyles as well. I picked four styles I think would be great for Spring and will give that effortless look.

Characters Reading: Lydia Martin

Required reading took on an entirely different meaning in an episode of Teen Wolf when Lydia Martin and rest of her friends needed to read the book The Dread Doctors by T.R. McCammon. They hoped that by reading the book, it would make it easier for them to find a way to stop the evil Dread Doctors.

It was a good plan, however reading the book had a strange effect. It caused them to dredge up old repressed memories of traumatic incidents such as Lydia remembering seeing her grandmother Lorraine Martin being experimented on in Eichen House, a mental institution.

Why I'm happy Teen Wolf ended before the Main Characters went to College

I still love watching Teen Wolf but I am happy the series ended before Scott McCall, Lydia Martin and Stiles Stilinski attended college. Scott was accepted to UC Davis (University of California, Davis) with plans to become a veterinarian, while Lydia was accepted to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) most likely to study math and science and Stiles was accepted to George Washington University with a goal of studying law enforcement. As for Malia Tate, I found it very realistic that the show didn't have her getting accepted or planning to go to college, that would not have been the right choice for her character especially since she was more interested in traveling.

Fashion Meets Fandom: Lydia Martin's Floral Headband

Lydia Martin is a total style icon and for six seasons of Teen Wolf she wore a modern, sophisticated, feminine and edgy mix of cute tops, mini skirts, shorts, skinny jeans, flowy dresses, jackets, sweaters and coats all paired with chic accessories.

One of my favorite accessories she wore was this cute blue and white floral headband. It was a great addition to her casual yet still very stylish outfit: green cardigan, tank top/cami and red shorts. The headband added a bit of fun to her look and plus floral prints tend to give off a cheerful vibe.

Question of the Day: Would Teen Wolf's Lydia Martin and Stiles Stilinski Stay Together?

Yesterday, I got into an interesting discussion with a few Teen Wolf fans where someone brought up whether or not Lydia Martin and Stiles Stilinski would still be together? There were quite a lot of interesting answers given including someone saying they would eventually get married. As for me, my answer was no, I don't think they would stay together and here's why.

Fandom Friday: Cordelia Chase and Lydia Martin: Popularity and the Supernatural

There are a lot of similarities between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Teen Wolf besides both shows have a group of teenagers trying to save their small Californian towns from the supernatural. It's also worth noting that Bianca Lawson appeared on both shows. She was the slayer Kendra on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Marin Morrell the balance seeking Emissary on Teen Wolf. In my opinion she was so underused on both shows but that's a post for another Fandom Friday.

For this post I wanted to point out how Cordelia Chase and Lydia Martin both dealt with losing their popularity due to their involvement with the supernatural. Both were the most popular girls at their schools and both decided to take the new girl (Buffy Summers and Allison Argent) under their wing so to speak. However this is where things differ because Buffy ended up rejecting Cordelia's "friendship" and influence in order to be friends with outcasts Willow Rosenberg and Xander Harris making Buffy incur Cordelia's wrath and thus being labeled an outcast as well. It was later on when they all became friends to some degree.

Fashion Meets Comics: Lydia Martin

The fifth season of Teen Wolf may have centered around the mysterious and menacing Dread Doctors but there was nothing dreadful about this red floral dress Lydia Martin wore in the 6th episode "Required Reading".

Lydia might not be the Alpha but she's definitely the leader of her pack in regards to fashion. Her wardrobe is very feminine and is occasionally paired with a statement piece. I really like this dress is so cute and colorful, it's a perfect casual day dress.

For this Fashion Meets Comics, I knew I would never find the exact same dress but I did find something that has a similar vibe. The dress that I found is bright and feminine and very Lydia inspired. She could wear it while tracking down clues to the latest supernatural incident plaguing Beacon Hills.

Characters Reading: Lydia Martin (Teen Wolf)

This picture of Lydia Martin reading the textbook "Thermodynamic: Asymmetry in Time" pretty much sums up who she is. She's so unbelievably smart and at the end of the series she was accepted to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) but during the first season of Teen Wolf, she was pretending to be dumb while she kept up a shallow mean girl persona. Her only focus at the time (while she hid her intelligence) was on maintain her popularity, dating Jackson Whittemore (the Captain of the lacrosse team) and looking her best.

Thankfully her character progressed. I think once Lydia became involved with the supernatural and embraced her new ability as a Banshee, it gave her the acceptance she needed to no longer have to pretend to be shallow and vapid. She may have lost her Queen B status, which at that point I don't think she even seemed to care about anymore, because she ended up gaining real friends in Allison, Scott, Stiles, Kira, Malia and the rest of the group. And not to mention she got to show how fiercely intelligent she was.

Nesting: Lydia Martin's Bedroom

Home décor inspiration can be found nearly anywhere and it's no surprise that we find it in some of our favorite TV shows and movies. My latest inspiration is Lydia Martin's bedroom from Teen Wolf's sixth season 11th episode "Said the Spider to the Fly".

I always think it's amazing how a set decorator/designer is able to create a room that perfectly represents a character. Lydia's style is very girlie and it's reflected in her bedroom but compared to the rooms she's had previously, the one in the sixth season is vastly different. Not only is it smaller but it also has a more mature yet still youthful look.

Fashion Meets Comics: Lydia Martin's Blue Dress

Teen Wolf's Lydia Martin's fashion style always had a very feminine and trendy look but it was surprisingly easy effort. She wore a lot of dresses, prints, layered pieces, flowy tops, flared skirts, tailored coats and cute sweaters. She pretty much wore a multitude of looks that expressed her personality while also changing as her life slowly became more immersed in the world of the supernatural.

I love this blue dress, it's a great look. I found this dress below that has the same sort of feel of the one Lydia is wearing.

The dress I found is really cute, it's definitely very Lydia inspired because it's feminine, flowy and absolutely effortless. To complete the look, pair it with ankle boots and a cute jacket or sweater.

Art of the Day (Fashion Meets Comics): Lydia Martin

The artist did a fantastic job with this, from Lydia's expression to her hair, make-up and dress. This is just too cute.

Beauty: Lydia Martin's Milkmaid Hairstyle

One of my favorite hairstyles that Lydia Martin wore on Teen Wolf was the Milkmaid Braid. Always a classic, it's so easy and effortless to do because all you have to do is make two braids then pin them up. You can leave hair out if you want but you don't have to.

It's definitely a good summer hair style especially when it's really hot and I want to do something different besides putting my hair up in a ponytail. This is such an easy, go-to style.
