In Remembrance: Adam West

It's so sad to hear about the death of Adam West, it's been reported that he died Friday night in Los Angles. He was considered a fan favorite in his iconic role as Batman on the 1960s Batman TV series.

I remember as a little girl watching the colorful show when it was on one of those retro stations. I loved it because it was fun and his Batman was always so positive and Batman and Robin would always stop the villains in the end. It wasn't until a few years ago that I rediscovered the show again on another retro channel and couldn't stop watching. I loved rewatching the show so much that it was no surprise that I received the complete series as a Christmas gift. I guess my family knew how much I loved this show.

I guess to all us fans he was the best in whatever role he was in from voice acting to making special guest appearances. It's hard not to see that he enjoyed being an icon as much as fans enjoyed seeing him. I wish his family the best, he will be missed by all of his fans.

DVD Tuesday: Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders

As much as I want to get Star Trek Beyond (which is also out today) and Independence Day Resurgence (I forgot this was out), I will buy them at another time. But for now, all I want to see is Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.

I know I'm not the only one eager to see this movie, come on it has Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprising their legendary roles in this animated movie. It makes me proud that this movie was made because the 1960s Batman TV series is still a fan favorite and it's great to see it being appreciated.

Alright fans, who's picking this up today?

Trailer for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders

I have been hearing so much about the trailer for the animated movie, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. I'm glad I finally got around to seeing it. This looks like it's going to be fun, the campiness continues. I can't wait to see it.

Fans of the original 1960s Batman TV series will be happy to know that Adam West and Burt Ward will be reprising their roles as Batman and Robin by voicing the characters. Along with Julie Newmar who will also be providing her voice for Catwoman.

The movie will be available on DVD/Blu-ray November 1, 2016.

Fashion Meets Comics: Barbara Gordon's Yellow Coat (Batman 60s TV series)

For this Fashion Meets Comics post I was inspired by Barbara Gordon's yellow coat. It's very feminine and sophisticated but also has this youthful look to it.

In the third season of the Batman TV series, Barbara was shown wearing this mod yellow coat in various episodes including her very first appearance in the episode "Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin". This coat has a A-line shape that was very of the moment back in the 60s. I love that this coat was such a bold yellow instead of in classic black or gray. Looking at that coat I wonder if all of those pockets were just decorative or actually functional.

This coat has a simple look but it's very polished yet still fun. Although Barbara is a librarian, she was never shown dressed in a stereotypical "stuffy librarian" sort of way. Many of her outfits on the show were in bright colors and patterns that gave her a ladylike look for her days working at the Gotham City Library.

As I was putting together this post, I wanted to find something that had a similar feel to Barbara's coat instead of something that gives off the appearance of a 60s inspired costume. These three coats that I found have a modern look but also gives off a retro vibe.

What do you think, are they Barbara Gordon worthy?

In Remembrance: Yvonne Craig

Artwork: Batgirl by Taliaspadre

Yvonne Craig was a fan favorite as Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl on the 1960s Batman TV series which starred Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin. She definitely was one of my favorite versions of Batgirl, because she made both Barbara and Batgirl appear smart and confident as well as showing a mischievous and fearless side.

Reading up on her life, I had no idea she had once been a ballet dancer before going into acting. She was also considered a sex symbol. And away from acting, she was a bit of an activist such as being an advocate for unions, fighting for equal pay for women, free mammograms and more.

According to reports, Craig at age 78 died Monday, August 17, 2015 from complications of breast cancer which had spread to her liver.

Her family released a statement to fans on her website which also included Craig's two wishes:

"Wish Number One, is that her family, friends and fans would know how much she loved them and always treasured her time with them. Wish Number Two, was that no one waste a moment of their time in mourning for her loss in sadness but instead celebrate the awesome life she had been fortunate enough to live. She felt that she lived a wonderful life and was blessed in many ways."

Yvonne Craig's Batgirl was an inspiration for me because she showed that being smart was cool.

DVD Tuesday: Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions, Batman The Complete TV series and Sailor Moon

I watched all the episodes and I enjoyed watching all of them. It just makes you wish the series had not been canceled so the series could have gotten a real ending. But since this is all that we get they are worth watching.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions

The Lost Missions include the last 13 episodes of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and also include a special documentary about the series.

As much as I would love to buy this today, it's going on my wishlist. This is every episode, that is so cool.

Batman The Complete TV Series

All 120 episodes finally available for fans of the Batman TV series. It includes an episode guide and over 3 hours of special features.

This is another item that will be added to my wishlist. I can't believe Sailor Moon is finally on DVD.

Sailor Moon Season 1 part 1

Two Columbus Day Marathons: Batman and Don't Trust the B--- in Apt. 23

How will I choose between the two? Both shows are great. One showcases the heroic Batman, Robin and Batgirl while the other show features a cast of ridiculous people doing equally ridiculous things.

I love how the 60s Batman TV series is always a good choice to air for a marathon. Guess fans just love that show. Now for Don't Trust the B--- in Apt. 23, all the characters are absolutely crazy and it's such a funny show, it's hard to image this show was cancelled by ABC.

I am so ready for these two marathons tomorrow. Will anyone else going to watch them?

Throwback Thursday: Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether

The three original Catwomen, Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether attending the TV Land Awards (2004)

4th of July Batman 1960's TV Show Marathon on IFC

Fans of the 1960's Batman TV series, the IFC channel has a nice treat for us, they will be showing a 22 episode marathon of the series starting at 6:00 a.m. EST (check your local listing for time).

Not to be just content with the marathon, the show will be a regular part of the line up so check your local listing for the time.

So, that means we can see all the crazy, wacky, goofy and cheesiness yet ingenious that was Batman. Despite all of that zany stuff, Adam West portrayed a Batman that was smart, resourceful as well as being a good detective. And Burt Ward brought the enthusiasm and energy as the sidekick Robin.

I can't wait for this marathon.

Side note: The series is finally being released to DVD and Blu-ray this November.

Throwback Thursday: Yvonne Craig as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

I thought Yvonne Craig was wonderful as Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) in the 1960's Batman TV series. She played the character as intelligent, inquisitive and total kick-butt. And you got to love all the really cute clothes she wore on the show.

Pic: Eartha Kitt as Catwoman

Eartha Kitt was awesome as Catwoman and good news for fans, according to the writers of the comic Batman '66, her Catwoman will also be featured in the new series. It was already noted that Julie Newmar's Catwoman would be featured.

This is going to be great. I seriously can't wait.

Fashion Meets Comics: Barbara Gordon from the 60's Batman TV show

I love watching that old Batman TV series because not only is it funny, you also have Barbara Gordon (played by Yvonne Craig) wearing really cute 60's clothes and kicking butt as Batgirl. This Barbara Gordon inspired dress below is so cute it would be perfect for brunch with the girls or for the stylish crime fighter day job as a librarian.
