Fandom: Ryan Guzman has been added to the Saving Lives Con 2025

It's recently been announced that actor Ryan Guzman has been added to the Saving Lives Con by Empire Conventions. It will be on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, 2025 in Paris, France. Ryan plays firefighter Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz on the TV series 9-1-1. I wish I could go to this convention, it seems like they picked a good group of actors (see the rest below) to attend.

Also, attending the event are actors: Aisha Hinds (Henrietta "Hen" Wilson - 9-1-1), Kenneth Choi (Howard "Chimney" Han - 9-1-1), Eric Winter (Timothy "Tim" Bradford - The Rookie), Melissa O'Neil (Lucy Chen - The Rookie), Lisseth Chavez (Celina Juarez - The Rookie), Adelaide Kane (Dr. Jules Millin - Grey's Anatomy) and Patrick Flueger (Adam Ruzek - Chicago P.D.). Photo of the Day: All American Cast at the American Black Film Festival

This is a great picture of the cast from the All American TV series. It looks like a fun candid shot of the cast having a good time when someone started taking pictures.

A couple of weeks ago, the cast attended the American Black Film Festival to promote their show. And also for their panel All American: Getting Authentic Black Stories to the End Zone which was held on Friday, June 16th. All American is a really good show and I'm glad it was renewed for a sixth season.

Photo: Rafael Silva, Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra McClain and Natacha Karam at Dream It Convention

These are some great shots of actors Rafael Silva, Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra McClain and Natacha Karam. These photos were taken Saturday (June 3rd) during the 9-1-1: Lone Star panel at the Dream It Convention: First Responders Reunion in Paris, France.

Total side note, I love how Rafael and Ronen black/white and gray outfits and Sierra and Natacha's orange paisley/orange outfits perfectly complement each other. I wonder if that was planned or fun little coincidence?

Event: Gilmore Girls Warner Bros. Studio Tour + A Holiday Lunch at Lorelai's

Gilmore Girls' fans, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour which includes sets from The Big Bang Theory to Friends will soon be offering a look through Stars Hollow starting December 22nd to January 6th.

According to the website:
"You will be able to experience a recreated set in Stars Hollow, Connecticut from the popular Gilmore Girls TV show. The original costumes from the show will be on display as well as Lorelai's redecorated house for photo-ops. You can even take a photo in the iconic gazebo!
Save your appetite for a delicious holiday spread and a selection of beverages available for purchase, right in Lorelai’s backyard. ‘Tis the season to Live more. Laugh more. Eat more. Talk more. Gilmore."

I wish I could see this, it seems like it's going to be a cool exhibit but it's not in my plans (or my budget at the moment for trip out to California). However, if any you fans are planning an upcoming trip to California (or already live there) during the time of the Gilmore Girls tour don't forget to go see it.

For anyone interested in taking the tour, it's last between 2 1/2 to 3 hours which includes guided and self-guided sections. The tour will finish at Stage 48: Script to Screen, which is self-guided and allows you to explore the stage and Lorelai’s exterior house set at your leisure. Prices varies so please check the website for more information.

As mention above the Gilmore Girls tour isn't the only thing special, they will be selling a special holiday lunch which will include food such as Oven Roasted Turkey Breast with Cranberry-Shallot Sauce, Lemon Garlic Roasted Chicken, Veggie Burgers, Fries, Homestyle Macaroni Salad, Garlic Buttered Corn, Salads and more.

This menu which has some good things on it doesn't seem like something Lorelai and Rory would actually order for themselves because those two ate a lot of fast food and greasy take out. But it does seem like something Sookie or Luke might serve at either the Dragonfly Inn or Luke's Diner.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Author Fatima Farheen Mirza at the Barnes & Noble's Author Event

Sarah Jessica Parker and author Fatima Farheen Mirza were at Barnes & Noble's Author Event at Union Square in New York City on Wednesday discussing Mirza's book A Place For Us (which was released on Tuesday). The event which was moderated by Lisa Lucas to celebrate the debut release of Mirza's book which is also the first book published under Parker's SJP Hogarth Books imprint line.

I was interested to know what this book was about, so I went to read the description. I immediately added it to my wishlist because it seems really interesting. It's always exciting when new authors get their first book published, I wish Mirza plenty of success.

Free Comic Book Day 2018

Every year it seems like there are more and more people who show up at my local comic bookstore for Free Comic Book Day. Yesterday, was fun and exciting with so much energy in the air from all the people looking around taking in everything. I didn't mind standing in the long lines because it was great seeing so many people and kids who were happy picking up books. Despite the store being so packed, I did manage to pick up a good selection of free comics.

Aside from the free comics, I also bought a few things: a Spider-Gwen pin and Funko Sesame Street Burt and Ernie figures. I also bought a Spider-Pig sketch from artist Terrell Culbert. I wanted to buy something from him at last year's FCBD but I didn't make it out there because I had been sick with a cold. So this time I made sure to get a sketch from him.

Spider-Gwen Pin

Funko Sesame Street: Ernie and Bert

Spider-Pig

Yesterday really was fun, I enjoyed walking around the store looking at stuff and talking to other comic book geeks. If you're still on the fence about attending Free Comic Book Day, maybe think about going next year. Hopefully, you will have as much fun as the rest of us comic book geeks.

The first Saturday in May is the day we comic book fans look forward to because it's Free Comic Book Day. But FCBD is not just for us comic book regulars it's also great for potential new fans. It gives them an opportunity to find something they might be interested in reading.

I hope everyone will have a lot of fun today picking up free books but I also hope that if you can, please make sure to buy something as well. It's a good way to support your local comic book store.

Chris Evans 4-Day-4-Movie Marathon: Day 1: Push

I'm going to be starting my Chris Evans 4-Day-4-Movie Marathon with the movie Push. It was released in 2009 but I never saw it in the theatre and I also never watched it at any of the numerous times it was shown at some point on TV over the years.

I don't know why but I ended up buying the movie last September and yet I still haven't watched it but I will today. I will post my review for it later today.

Push

Description (from the DVD):

Hang on tight as a gang of superpowered paranormal operatives take you on a white-knuckle thrill ride. The excitement starts when a future-seeing Watcher (Dakota Fanning) convinces a telekinetic Mover (Chris Evans) to help steal a briefcase that holds a billion-dollar secret. But to outrun government agents, they must enlist a mind-controlling Pusher (Camilla Belle) who could be their salvation-or their doom. Also starring Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou, Push will pull you in completely.

My 4-Day-4-Movie Marathon: Chris Evans

The last time I did a 4-Day-4-Movie marathon was four years ago, I don't know how the time has slipped away. Amy Adams kicked off what I had hoped would be a movie marathon I would do at least more often than once.

So for tomorrow's Presidents' Day my second 4-Day-4-Movie marathon will be of Chris Evans. I decided to focus on some his other movies instead the comic book movies which sort of eliminated quite a few of his movies. Because hello this man has starred in a lot of them. Below is the list of movies and days I will watch them. I will try to post the review on that same day or the next day at the latest.

Monday:           Push

Tuesday:          Playing It Cool

Wednesday:     Before We Go

Thursday:        What's Your Number?

Free Comic Book Day 2016

For those who were unaware, yesterday was Free Comic Book Day and it was a lot of fun.

By the time I got to my local comic book store it was already packed with customers and cosplayers. As soon as I walked into the store, there were people lined up everywhere. I knew as soon as I made my way over to the free comic section that some of the books were going to be gone. Below were six books I was able to pick up.

Since I'm an old hat at this, I didn't really look around at the other items on the shelves because I'm there on a weekly basis anyway. However, I did check out the discount section and found a few gems. Everything in this picture below (except for The Arcane Awakening comic, that I bought from the writer) were for 25 cent each.

After checking out the discount section, I stopped by some of the booths that were in the store. As I mentioned above, I bought The Arcane Awakening (and got it autographed) from the author Dominic Riggio (below).

Then I moved over to Dan Dougherty booth and got a free "Beardo volume #1: The Art Degree Guarantee" book and bought a Winnie the Pooh/Star Wars crossover artwork.

I didn't get a chance to buy anything from artist Terrell Culbert (below), his line was really long. I wish I did because his artwork is amazing.

All in all I would say it was a good day, I got some free comics and met a few artists and writers. Each year it seems to get bigger and better. I'm already looking forward to next year, they are starting to feel like mini comic cons.

I hope everyone had a great time yesterday at Free Comic Book Day and will have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Free Comic Book Day!

Happy Free Comic Book Day!

This may have started out as a way to gain new comic book readers but Free Comic Book Day has grown to become this huge nation wide event. I wonder if this is held internationally, I need to find out.

I think it's wonderful that comic book stores are participating in this event offering free comics. However, if it's possible could you please try to buy something. It's a nice way to support your local store.

If you're not sure which comic to pick up, click here to see which books are offered this year.

And most importantly have fun!

Batman v Superman Day: Freebies, a Funko and a Magazine

Anyone else go to the Batman v Superman Day at Barnes & Noble yesterday? I manage to stop by my local B&N bookstore even if none of my friends wanted to go (they're not into comics). I decided to enter the trivia contest. There were five stations set up for Batman, Superman, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman and all you had to do was answer three questions about the five subjects. I did pretty well, I only missed two questions. So, yes, even this geek doesn't have all the answers but I still had fun.

After taking the quiz, I signed up for a prize then I wandered around picking up a few freebies: a New 52 Justice League poster, a Superman/Batman comic, a Harley Quinn mask and a Batgirl mask.

Since the Batman v Superman section was starting to get crowded, I decided to walk over to the Funko area to look around. It must have been my lucky day because I spotted a Funko I've been trying to find for quite a while, Hawkeye from the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. Isn't itty-bitty Hawkeye adorable?

Before I left the store, I decided to walk around and see if there was anything else I might find. My last stop was the magazine aisle and guess what I found the April issue of Glamour magazine with Gal Gadot on the cover. I was also surprised to find that there is an interview with Lynda Carter in the magazine (near the back of issue).

Well, not a bad early evening roaming the store. I wonder if Barnes & Noble will have something for Captain America: Civil War.
