Lazy Sunday: Relax

Just a little Lazy Sunday reminder, it's okay to relax and slow things down and do absolutely nothing today or any other day if and when you need to. I think we put too much stress on ourselves to try to do everything or work ourselves until we're burned out. So, try to make time to do nothing but relax.

Lazy Sunday: Watch a Funny Movie

Sunday is a great day to relax and unwind which is why I think you should make an effort to take time out to enjoy the day. It's also a great way to beat the pre-workweek blues and to alleviate any stress and anxiety that you might have for starting a new week.

When I started writing my Lazy Sunday post, I wanted to give tips or suggestions as a way to help everyone enjoy the day. So, for this Sunday why not watch a funny movie or a couple of episodes of your favorite funny TV series. The point is for you to laugh because it releases endorphins which will reduce your stress levels and make you feel happy and relaxed.

What do you like to do on rainy days?

It's been raining nearly all day, I was wondering what do like to do on rainy days? I feel like a rainy day especially if its on a Sunday is the perfect day to do absolutely nothing. So far I've watched a few old TV shows and I'm thinking of watching a movie maybe something like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which I haven't seen it in a while. Or something else like Eight Legged Freaks which I've seen so many times or Attack the Block, which I've never seen. I have to figure out if I want mindless watching or something new I need to pay attention to. I might save the latter for another day when I'm not being lazy. Other than that I have no idea what else to do today.

Lazy Sunday: The Houston Ballet performing to "Dancing with Myself"

I thought this video of the Houston Ballet performing to Billy Idol's song Dancing with Myself was pretty cool and I wanted to share it. This entire routine which was rehearsed over Zoom and choreographed by Stanton Welch features 61 dancers who danced in a range of clothes from colorful pajamas to gowns and suits. I hope this will add a little fun to your Lazy Sunday.

Lazy Sunday: Listen to Music

Looking for a fun and easy way to relax, try listening to music. Studies have shown that music can lower stress levels and boost your mood. It may even help to alleviate or reduce depression. So make time to listen to music whenever you can.

We all love listening to our favorite music but why not try something new (or old) by a singer, band or  soundtrack you've never listen to before. At least once a month, pick something different it will help expand your taste of music. My favorite genre is soundtracks (preferably orchestral) but I do try to find different genres to listen to. 

Something else you could do is play some music while your reading, it may enhance your reading experience. Just make sure not to listen to anything that could be too distracting you still want to enjoy the story.

If you share your space, you might want to wear headphones so as not to disturb others.

Lazy Sunday: Eat Chocolate

As you're relaxing on this Lazy Sunday, why not eat some chocolate. According to research, this sweet and delicious snack contains the compound phenylethylamine which is a mood-enhancing stimulant. It also boosts our serotonin levels making us feel happy. So while you're enjoying your Lazy Sunday, maybe watching a movie, a TV show or reading a book, why not take a chocolate break.

My absolute favorite is dark chocolate and according to research, it contains more antioxidants and less sugar than milk chocolate. This is good to know since I always keep a bar (or two) in the refrigerator and enjoy having a few pieces daily for a nice treat.

Lazy Sunday: Watching the Wizards of Waverly Place Movie

Happy Sunday!

How are you enjoying this day? I'm already relaxing on the sofa in the comfiest, coziest blanket drinking a hot cup of tea while watching the Wizards of Waverly Place movie. I wanted something fun and whimsical to watch and I remembered how much I love this movie, so I thought I'd watch it.

The movie follows the Russo family as they take a vacation (which was supposed to be magic free), however, the kids continued to do magic. Then out of frustration, Alex cast a terrible spell that she and her older brother Justin were going to have to fix.

If you haven't seen this movie please do, it has a great story and it's filled with plenty of magic.

Lazy Sunday: Watching the Victorious Marathon

It's Lazy Sunday and I haven't done anything except watch the Victorious marathon on TeenNick. It's been a while since I've watched the show but I still love watching it. The show followed Victoria "Tori" Vega and her sister Trina and Tori's friends/classmates André Harris, Beck Oliver, Jade West, Robbie Shapiro and Cat Valentine as they always seem to find themselves in some of the most ridiculous situations either at their Hollywood Arts High School, their personal lives or while trying to pursue a career in acting and entertainment.

I feel like Victorious didn't get as much appreciation at the time because Glee (another awesome show) was on as well. I still love watching both shows because they were really good and funny and I also loved that they put a spotlight on the arts.

I noticed two things while watching this marathon and they are:

#1) Did Ariana Grande ever admit to getting plastic surgery? Because watching some of the episodes from the first two seasons you can see how different her face looks. I don't have anything against plastic surgery, it's your body you do whatever makes you feel good but I was just wondering if she's ever said anything about it since you can totally see how much her face has changed.

#2) When I recently started watching The Thundermans I thought there was something familiar about the family's house but I couldn't quite place it. That is until now, The Thundermans reused the set for Tori's house. The show altered a few things in the kitchen and living room but you can still tell it's the Vega house. 

It's Lazy Sunday, What Book Are You Reading?

The book I'm going to start reading is American Panda by Gloria Chao (it's the Book Girl's Book Club Pick for April). I feel like Sunday is the perfect day to curl up on the sofa with a good book and do nothing but relax and read. With the weather being kind of rainy and gloomy, I'll be having a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate while I'm reading.

Lazy Sunday Movie Marathon

I just got back from the store and can now officially say that I have finished my Christmas shopping. Yay! I'll worry about wrapping stuff tomorrow because as of now I'm going to sit back and enjoy the rest of my Lazy Sunday by watching two movies and they are:

Broadcasting Christmas

I have never seen this movie which is why I bought it earlier this year. I had no idea that Melissa Joan Hart had ever starred in a Hallmark movie. Since, this will be my first time watching this, I'm really hoping it will be good.

I know this movie is beyond bad (it's so bad it makes the second movie look good) but I've been rewatching the Transformers movies and I figure I should probably go ahead and continue on with it.

I'm getting ready to start enjoying my day, how are you going to spend yours? As soon as I post this I am going to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp since I haven't watched it yet. Not sure if I'll watch anything else after that.

I'm also think of going to the bookstore to browse a bit even though I don't need to buy any new books. Which is also why I haven't posted any new book purchases in a while because I have not bought any. I really love going to the bookstore and the library because these are spaces that are so relaxing and I get to take my time (in fact I lose track of time) while simply walking through the aisle and looking at all the books.

I also need to organize some of comics, yesterday I bought some new boards and bags, so maybe I'll spend some time doing that if I'm not feeling too lazy.

So, happy Lazy Sunday, everyone! Don't feel guilty for doing nothing, it's good to relax.

Lazy Sunday = Movie Day

I really have nothing to do today so that mean I'm getting ready to enjoy my Lazy Sunday by watching a couple of movies. I don't know if I want to watch something I've seen before especially since I have quite a few new movies I still haven't watched. Maybe I'll watch the LEGO Justice League: Gotham City Breakout (yeah, I know I haven't watched it yet) followed by Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End or Spider-Man 2. These are two sequels that I really love watching, who knows maybe I'll watch all three movies. I don't have anything else to do today.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a chance to relax and enjoy the day.

Make Time To Be Lazy and Not Only On Sunday

I was thinking about how busy everyone seems to be with Sunday sometime being the only day most people have to relax. And even then people are still rushing around doing stuff and not actually enjoying the day. So for anyone who is trying to cram in "relaxation" on Sundays perhaps another option is to try to find little pockets of free time throughout the week instead to relax.

And during that time, why not watch a movie or two, watch a few episodes of a TV show, play video games, read a book, go for a walk, bake, spend time with friends, take a nap, drink a cup of tea, etc. It really doesn't matter what you do but the point is to take time to relax and enjoy the day.

I don't always get a chance to spend my Sundays relaxing but today I did and enjoyed it by first reading a few pages of Transformers: The Veiled Threat by Alan Dean Foster, this book is set in between the first and second Transformers movies. So far it's off to an interesting start. Then sometime later, I rewatched the Black Panther movie, that movie is still amazing.

I really just want everyone to find ways to relax because it's not good to be so busy and stressed
and not taking time to enjoy life. And when you do make sure to enjoy every minute of it.

Just Trying to Enjoy a Lazy Sunday!

As horrible as the world is sometimes you have to take a minute to regroup and take care of yourself or you'll be in no good shape to help anyone else. Here are a few of the things I've been doing today for Lazy Sunday:

- Spending time with my dear old dad. Well, it is Father's Day but I enjoy spending time with him no matter what day it is.

- Reading: I'm nearly finished with Pride & Porter and should have the review up soon. I also read a good amount of The City of the Dead.

- Watching TV: There's a Silver Spoon marathon on Antenna TV, it goes until 11:30 pm EST -- I just love watching old TV shows.

A Cleaning Day I Wish Was a Lazy Sunday

I wanted to post something earlier but I've been too busy cleaning. Aside from neat freaks (like Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh) is there anyone who's actually happy to clean and organize? Instead of having a Lazy Sunday which I had totally plan to do, I've been cleaning all day. Which sucks because I had a couple of movies I wanted to watch but like it or not I guess I have to be a responsible adult and clean.

I think for my next cleaning day, I'm going to take a little inspiration from Rabbit and have a list. It will be easier to stay focused on the areas that need to the most attention and hopefully make the cleaning process quicker. I'm hoping it won't take much longer since I'm already in process of cleaning my bedroom. I just took a little break to post this. I didn't realize how messy the reading nook that I have in my bedroom is. Since I've mostly been reading in the living room, I have sort of unconsciously been using the chair for storage. I've tossed so much stuff on it that you can barely see the chair. I have books that need to be put on the shelves and clothes that also need to be put away.

Well, I guess I better get back to cleaning. Happy Lazy Sunday Cleaning Day everyone!

Book Girl Thoughts: A Bookstore I Used To Go To

I love this picture, it reminds of a used bookstore I used to go to when I was in college. It was small with books nearly everywhere you turned, from the crammed bookcases to piles of books on the floor and the counter. I liked that the owners of the store never pestered anyone or asked a million questions. They just left the customer alone to roam the store completely absorbed in the act of searching for books.

Back then I didn't have a lot of time for personal reading but whenever I had a spare moment, I would go to the bookstore. It was wonderful spending time searching through the shelves to see what I could find. Sometimes I found something good like a Nancy Drew book in excellent condition while others times I would leave the store empty handed. But I didn't mind, it never felt like a waste of time. I simply enjoyed walking around the store looking through the books.

I've never found another used bookstore like that one but I like to think I will one day.

Thoughtful Words: President Barack Obama and Hillary Clintion

I'm currently writing up my review for Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger which will not be ready until tomorrow. Until then I had to post these messages by President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton who posted them yesterday on Twitter. Both are directed at all the hatred on display not only in Charlottesville but around the country and the world.

Neither may be President but they both are more Presidential than the so called actual "President".

The weather has been so nice that I've been outside most of the day reading my book, walking my dog and simply just lounging around.

Video: Arden Cho's How Not To Flirt

For some Lazy Sunday fun, I had to share this How Not to Flirt video by Arden Cho with Ryan Higa. I laughed so hard watching this because as the title states, this is filled with common dating mistakes that Cho pulled off so perfectly in her cringe worthy performance. She deserves an award for this.

I'm sure we can all agree that dating can sometimes be a challenge and especially if it's a first date with someone you really like. You don't necessarily plan on doing any of these things but when you're nervous sometimes it's hard to relax and be yourself. This is so funny, please watch it.

How are you spending the day? After taking care of a few chores I'm ready to sit back and do nothing but watch TV and read. I already went through my movies and pulled out three I want to watch: Ghostbusters (extended edition), The Perfect Guy and Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters.
