Must See Film: Zack Snyder's Justice League

I'm not sure how, but I totally forgot Zack Snyder's version of Justice League premiered today on HBO Max. I am interested in seeing how this one differs from the theatrical release that was directed by Josh Whedon. I know one difference is that this new version is four hours long. I don't mind watching a long movie but I'm thankful this is not in theaters and can watch it at home and pause it if I need to at any point.

Book of Interest: Justice League/Power Rangers

Justice League/Power Rangers, I can't believed I never read this. I did get the first three issues of this miniseries from the comic book store but I didn't get the last three. I'm going to have to get this trade edition so I can read it. I've always been a big fan of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Justice League. They're amazing heroes and it will be cool to see them team up to fight Lord Zedd and Brainiac.

DVD Tuesday: Justice League vs The Fatal Five

It's hard to believe that it's been 13 years since the last episode of the Justice League Unlimited animated series aired. Which is why I'm so excited to see Justice League vs The Fatal Five. For anyone who doesn't know, Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg and George Newbern reprise their roles as the voices for Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman.

I hope this movie does really well because maybe more DCAU (DC Comics Animated Universe) movies will be made.

DVD Tuesday: Disney The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and Reign of the Supermen

It's DVD Tuesday and I have two movies I want to get: Disney The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and Reign of the Supermen.

The only reason I didn't see The Nutcracker and the Four Realms in theaters is because it was released on November 2nd and for me that's way too early to start thinking about Christmas. Too bad Disney didn't get a later release date like sometime in December because for me I'm more in the Christmas spirit after Thanksgiving. Anyway, I can't wait to see this.

As for my second pick, Reign of the Supermen it's the sequel to The Death of Superman animated movie and it's finally out today. Fans had to wait nearly six months for the sequel which makes me wonder why didn't Warner Bros. release both parts of the movie last year? Well, I guess it doesn't matter, I'm still going to get this.

DVD Tuesday: The Death of Superman

How many times can they do the death of Superman story? Aside from the comic books, Superman has "died" in the Superman: Doomsday animated movie, Batman v Superman, All-Star Superman animated movie and he nearly died in an episode of Smallville had Lois Lane not pulled the kryptonite blade out of his chest. And everyone (except Batman) thought he died in an episode of the Justice League animated series but he was just in the future.

The death of Superman is a story that never gets old, I guess it's interesting to see how the characters and the world temporarily deal with the loss of one of the greatest superheroes. And this new movie sort of has a New 52 take on it. I like that it's even in two parts with the sequel Reign of the Supermen being released next year.

This movie isn't the only thing out today: Breaking In, Life of the Party and Riverdale Season 2 are as well.

DVD Tuesday: LEGO Aquaman, Overboard and Star Wars: Rebels Season 4

I love watching the LEGO DC Comics movies, they are so funny and so far I have yet to see one I didn't like. Which is why I can't wait to see LEGO Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis, I'm sure Aquaman (and the rest of the League) will end up doing so many ridiculous things in this movie. I hope the next LEGO movie will be Wonder Woman, I'm really surprised one hasn't been announced for her by now.

Two other DVDs I want to get are Overboard and Star Wars: Rebels season 4. I'm usually not a big fan of reboots but Overboard looks really funny. As for Star Wars: Rebels, the 4th season was the final season for this ragtag group of heroes. I might not have started out a big fan of SWR when it first aired but by the end it won me over as a fan.

Review:

Cyborg volume #2 has a good balance of good story telling, humor, sci-fi and action. I love seeing all the moments between Victor and his father because they were very fun and heartwarming. The writing is good and the plot seems to be very thought out and although the writers may have changed midway, there is no difference in the writing.

Review:

Prosecutor Kate Spencer never set out to be the vigilante Manhunter but when she lost the case against the villain Copperhead it brought about a change for her. Copperhead had been on trial for murdering, severely injuring and digesting several people. His lawyer was able to convince the jury that a genetic anomaly was the cause of Copperhead's murderous behavior. He was found not guilty and would temporarily reside at the Metahuman Research Facility in Death Valley, CA.

As he was being transported to the facility, Copperhead escaped but not before brutally killing the guards. While still at work, Kate heard about the escape and came up with a spur of the moment idea to go after him. Dressed in a red costume and carrying a specialized staff, Kate tracked down Copperhead which ended with a deadly result.

Kate taking on the task to fight crime outside of the courtroom has given her a new found sense of purpose. But being an unconventional hero has it downside with it adding more trouble to her personal life with her son Ramsey accidentally getting hurt after he found Manhunter's staff.

Her take down of Copperhead had the villain Shadow Thief seeking revenge and their first encounter didn't work out in her favor. She was left with a bruised ego and a damaged weapon. Needing a little technical assistance she roped a former low level villain who is now a protected witness going by the name Dylan Battle into helping her.

He made some interesting improvements to her suit and weapon but will it be enough to take down Shadow Thief. She was hoping to get the chance before the Justice League found the shadowy villain.

This is one of those books where I wished I had read it sooner. It's great yet brutal. How can I best describe Kate Spencer? Well, she's rather abrasive and the thing is she doesn't care. She's tough and believes in justice and she's willing as the Manhunter to go against the rules and the law to achieve it. Her personal life is difficult, Kate and her ex-husband Peter don't get along and although she loves her son he doesn't seem to be a top priority. And following the accident she is reconsidering what's best for her son.

The writing and illustration for these five issues are fantastic, the book has a darker edge as it follows Kate Spencer whose life is completely wrapped up in her work. And even more so once she becomes Los Angeles' newest vigilante. There is surprisingly some humor in this that's very funny as it plays out in such a grim setting.

I really like this and I will be continuing on with the series. I have to see when I can get the second volume.

DVD Tuesday: LEGO Justice League: Gotham City Breakout

I love these LEGO Justice League and Scooby-Doo movies, I have yet to find one I didn't like. And Gotham City Breakout looks like it's going to another fun one to watch. So, for Batman, why is the worst thing to ever happen to him, is to take a vacation? Only he would think taking a little time off is bad. Well, I guess in this case it probably is.

I'm going to make sure I pick this up later today when I go out to the store.

DVD Tuesday: Justice League vs Teen Titans

I was wondering why DC Comics is trying so hard to promote Damian Wayne in these animated movies. Counting Justice League vs Teen Titans, he has now been in four movies which includes Son of Batman, Batman vs Robin and Batman: Bad Blood, meanwhile Tim Drake has yet to be featured in one. So my question is, where is Tim Drake? I like Damian but he doesn't need to be in so many movies.

Anyway, I will be picking this up, hopefully it will be good.

Justice League vs Teen Titans

DVD Tuesday: Creed and LEGO Justice League: Cosmic Clash

Two new movies out today are: Creed and LEGO Justice League: Cosmic Clash. I didn't see Creed when the movie was in the theater. But I heard it was really good and that Michael B. Jordan did an amazing job with this role.

Now for LEGO Justice League, I absolutely love the LEGO Batman and Justice League movies. And even though the movies are very funny they still have a good story.
