On My List: February 21st

Happy Tuesday!

I haven't posted an On My List in a while, so I wrote a little one. First, is a book that's been on my bookshelf that I haven't read. Second is a TV show I want to rewatch and last is a movie I want to rewatch. What's on your list?


A Book on my Bookshelf that I Haven't Read:

Yesterday, I was looking through one of my bookcases and found Star Wars: Scoundrels at the back of one the shelves. I forgot I had this and definitely want to read it. It's a book that centers on Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, how could I have forgotten about this book. I've moved it to the front of the shelf, so I'll see it and hopefully it'll remind me to read it soon.

LEGO Star Wars Holiday Short "Wrapping Up The Falcon" (Video)

I guess that's one way to use the Force, Luke did a good decorating. But it's hard to imagine Han and Chewbacca being okay with the Millennium Falcon being decorated for Life Day. Well, I guess even these two curmudgeons can enjoy the spirit of the holiday.

Did Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi scam Han Solo and Chewbacca?

I don't know why I have been thinking about Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker's deal with Han Solo and Chewbacca for their trip to Alderaan. Anyone else think Luke and Obi-Wan totally scammed them? For anyone who hasn't seen Star Wars: A New Hope, Obi-Wan, Luke, R2-D2 and C-3PO traveled to Mos Eisley to see if they could find a pilot who could take them to the planet Alderaan.

They found pilots Han Solo and Chewbacca in a seedy little cantina and after negotiating, Han set a price for 10,000 credits in advance. But Obi-Wan managed to convince Han that they could pay him 2,000 upfront and will give him 15,000 once they got to Alderaan.

Toy Corner: Star Wars Barbie Dolls: C-3PO, Chewbacca, Rey and Stormtrooper

Barbie is adding four new dolls to its Star Wars collection. This second collection includes dolls inspired by C-3PO, Chewbacca, Rey and a Stormtrooper. Last year, Barbie released dolls inspired by Darth Vader, Princess Leia and R2-D2 Dolls, I guess the first collection was so popular the company decided to create more.

These dolls which are really cool are mainly for collecting or displaying only especially for the price. C-3PO, Rey and Stormtrooper are $100 each while Chewbacca is $150. I'm not sure why Chewbacca is $50 more perhaps it all the faux-fur featured throughout the costume. The only one you can buy right now is the Stormtrooper, however, you can pre-order the other three dolls.

Storytime: Joonas Suotamo reading "Star Wars: Chewie and the Porgs"

Hey bookworms here's another storytime video that has actor Joonas Suotamo reading the children's book Star Wars: Chewie and the Porgs by Kevin Shinick with illustrations by Fiona Hsieh. For non-Star Wars fans, Joonas Suotamo took over the iconic role of Chewbacca from the late actor Peter Mayhew.

I hope everyone will enjoy this good read especially since Joonas Suotamo also provides fun sound effects throughout the reading.

Nesting: Lando Calrissian's Millennium Falcon in Solo: A Star Wars Story

I remember when I was a little girl seeing Star Wars: A New Hope for first time on TV. It immediately caught my attention and when the Millennium Falcon first appeared on screen my reaction was pretty similar to Luke Skywalker's when he called it a piece of junk. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but Han Solo had made such a big deal about his ship that once it appeared I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. However, despite my initial reaction about the Falcon's less than stellar appearance, I soon realized it really was an impressive ship.

One of the things I loved about Solo: A Star Wars Story besides it being a great heist movie was getting to see more of the interior of the Millennium Falcon. The ship shown in Solo was such a stark contrast to what was shown in the original Star Wars trilogy. It goes without saying that Lando Calrissian has impeccable taste and when he owned the Falcon it reflected his style and sophistication. After watching Solo, Lando's line "What have you done to my ship?" from The Empire Strikes Back, really makes sense because you can't help wondering what did Han and Chewbacca do to that ship?

Plush LEGO Star Wars Chewbacca

Chewbacca was so underappreciated in the Star Wars sequel trilogy but the Solo movie did a great job of showing how cool he is.

Anyway, I know Baby Yoda (or The Child) is the cutest thing at the moment but just look at this LEGO Chewbacca stuff animal. Isn't he the cutest? I don't usually buy a lot stuff or plush items but I could see buying this. I have my little collectibles shelf that I would place him on. He is just so cute.

Chewbacca Should Have a Disney+ Miniseries

I think Chewbacca should get a Disney+ miniseries, it could show him traveling around the galaxy in the Millennium Falcon (which I feel belongs to him) having awesome adventures. During his travels, he could visit old friends such at the Ewoks and Porgs (because I'm sure they were returned to Ahch-To) while also making new friends. There could also be a nice reflective moment of Chewie thinking about his best friend the late Han Solo and his other old friends the late General Leia Organa and Master Jedi Luke Skywalker.

In the sequel trilogy, I never got a sense that Chewie and Ben Solo (a.k.a. Kylo Ren) were ever close. It's hard to imagine Ben growing up around Chewie and the two not interacting. Especially since they were family, I think it would be interesting see why their relationship was nonexistent.

Something that always annoyed me about the sequel trilogy was how Chewie was sort of sidelined especially after Han was killed. I still find it weird Leia was comforting Rey instead of Chewie following Han's death in The Force Awakens. It made absolutely no sense because Rey hardly knew Han while Chewbacca was his best friend for years. As much as I love The Force Awakens, that was really bad writing to have Leia overlook Chewie in order to console Rey. It would have been more moving to have had Leia and Chewie grieving together over the loss of Han. Instead it felt empty with Chewie going with an injured Finn while Leia and Rey hugged.

Which is why I believe the Wookie needs his own miniseries, so he can shine as the main character. He was just as important as the other characters but he became overlooked in the sequel trilogy.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker "They Fly Now" Clip

This is a cool action packed scene from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but it's the reaction from C-3PO, Finn and Poe that made me laugh so much. I can't believe after they saw stromtroopers flying using jet packs they each repeated "they fly now". I wouldn't be surprised if Chewbacca said the same thing. Especially, since he said something first.

That little bit of dialogue was so unexpectedly funny that it stood out more than the action. What do you think ridiculously funny or just ridiculous?

Question of the Day: Do You Think Finn and Poe Dameron Should Have a Star Wars Movie or TV Series?

These two pictures from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie makes me wish that Finn and Poe Dameron had their own spin-off movie or TV series. Who wouldn't want to see the space adventures of Finn and Poe? I know I would. I also think it would be cool if Chewbacca and Rose Tico made guest appearances joining the duo in a few of their adventures as well.

I could see a series focusing on Poe and Finn traveling throughout space helping people and fighting against The First Order and also developing a relationship between these two. A series would give the writers more time to expand on the easy and magnetic chemistry between Finn and Poe into a compelling romance.

I always found it fascinating that some Star Wars fans called Finn a coward and a traitor when as a stormtrooper he left The First Order. To me, I consider that to be unbelievably brave that he chose to break free from the brainwashing of the oppressive and hateful regime that he was a part of. Leaving made it possible for Finn to find out who and what he was capable of as well as become a hero. Meanwhile, I find Poe to also be very brave but he's rather impulsive which can lead him to act without thinking and cause huge mistakes. I love that he truly believes in fighting injustice and helping people.

Finn and Poe are such interesting characters and I think if they had a movie or TV series they would get the screen time they deserved and along with more time to explore their story.

Trailer for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker"

I know most have seen this trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, I meant to post it several days ago but I was still processing it. I'm excited to see this movie, I think it's going to be a thrilling finale to the series. It's really good seeing Lando back and I love that this trailer has a lot of Finn/Poe scenes but it's also sad seeing General Leia and that scene of C-3PO. I hope it doesn't mean this will be the end of the know-it-all droid, he's one of my favorite characters. If it is, I just hope they give him a proper send off.

I can't believe it's the end of this chapter of Star Wars, we all know it's not truly the end of this franchise just the end of the Skywalker saga. The movie will be in theatres Friday, December 20th.

DVD Tuesday: Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo did well at the box office but not as well as it should have and that's unfortunately because there was a campaign by some so-called fans to deliberately tank it. It really annoys me that these "fans" had this extra time on their hands and decided to use it by going after a movie because they were disappointed with the Star Wars franchise. I really want to tell them to get a life, this is entertainment and it should not be taken this seriously.

Anyway, I can't wait to get this.

Weekend Film: Solo: A Star Wars Story

Even though, I'm beginning to feel like the Star Wars franchise is becoming over saturated with so many upcoming movies and TV shows in the works, I am very much interested in seeing Solo.

The original Star Wars trilogy introduced so many fantastic characters including Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian which is why I can't wait to see how their story begins.

365 Days of Books of Interest: Day #50: Star Wars: Chewbacca

I like Chewbacca but I feel like he's always relegated to side-kick instead of as a main character. Which is why I'm interested in reading this book even though he will still be sharing this story with another character.
