Most Memorable Scene: Camp Half-Blood vs The Colchis Bull (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters)

I don't know why I woke up this morning thinking about the Percy Jackson movies. I know they have mixed reviews from fans and yeah, they weren't perfect adaptations but they were entertaining. And I still enjoy watching them. I like this scene from the second movie, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters where the demigods at Camp Half-Blood have to defend themselves against a raging Colchis Bull.

If I'm not mistaken, most of the demigods at Camp Half-Blood have never been on a quest. They train and study but they've never had actual experience which is why they were not prepared for this attack. But the mechanized bull was eventually stopped but the camp no longer had the protective barrier to keep them safe. Which of course would lead to the next quest.

It's been a while since I've watched the movies, I think it's time for a re-watch.

Book of Interest: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Wrath of the Triple Goddess

Even though I haven't read the sixth Percy Jackson and the Olympians book, The Chalice of the Gods (it is sitting on my book shelf), I have already pre-ordered the seventh book, Wrath of the Triple Goddess. I love reading these Percy Jackson books they are such a fun read.

Based on the description for both books, Percy is going through a lot to get his recommendation letters. I can only imagine what he will have to go through to get the final letter. I'm guessing there will be an eighth book, unless Percy already got two letters in the last book, The Chalice of the Gods. Since I haven't read it yet, I don't know what happens in that story.

Anyway, I pre-ordered Wrath of the Triple Goddess and I can't wait to read both books.

Book of Interest: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods

I don't know how I missed the release of this new Percy Jackson and the Olympians book, The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan. But I did. I even wrote about it last year in Entertainment News. But somehow I totally forgot it was being released this year.

Anyway, I will be adding this to my list. I still love this series and I can't wait to read this. I'm sure Percy, Annabeth and Grover will complete the challenge but it's probably going to be extremely difficult. I also want to get the book, The Sun and the Star by Mark Oshiro and Rick Riordan which centers on the characters Nico di Angelo and Will Solace.

Teaser Trailer: Percy Jackson and The Olympians TV Series

I'm not sure what to think of this teaser trailer for the upcoming Percy Jackson and The Olympians TV series. It looks good while also feeling a bit generic. And the actors for Percy and his mother, Grover and Annabeth just seem so bland and boring. I'm sure they're talented or they wouldn't have been cast. I just wish they stood out a bit more.

Anyway, I love the Percy Jackson book series by Rick Riordan and despite not being a fan favorite, I also really enjoyed watching the movies. They weren't perfect but they were fun to watch. Which is what I hope the show will be as well. A good story that's fun and interesting to watch.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians will premiere with two episodes on Wednesday, December 20th on Disney Plus.

Entertainment News #11: Nancy Drew Cancelled, Superman & Lois, Percy Jackson and more

For anyone new to Book Girl, for this post, I like to highlight various entertainment news from books to movies and shows.

- According to reports, the Nancy Drew TV series on The CW has been cancelled, the upcoming fourth season will be the final one. Although it deviated from the books by adding a supernatural element to the show along with changing various things about the characters, it quickly found a fan base. The premiere date for the fourth season hasn't been announced yet but it's been stated that the show will air sometime next year.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #24: Jonah Greenway, Percy Jackson TV Series and MCU Movie Anniversaries

Happy Friday, I hope you had a good week and hopefully the weekend will be to. I wanted to know what fandom thoughts are on your mind?

- I can't believe I'm saying this but Jonah Greenway is turning out to be a much more interesting new 9-1-1 character than Lucy Donato. I don't understand why the show's marketing team hyped up Lucy so much and not to mention all the interviews promoting the character only for her to be one of the most boring characters on the show. I think they really miscalculated with who they decided to promote especially since Jonah's Angel of Death storyline is so much more interesting.

Fandom Friday: I want an older Percy Jackson TV series!

It's Fandom Friday, what do you guys want to talk about?

For me, all I've been thinking about lately is an older Percy Jackson TV series with the actors (Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson) from the Percy Jackson movies. I know there was an announcement a while back that there is going to be a new show on Disney+ but I want a series with the movie actors because I think it would be cool to see these characters older.

The actors may be in their 30s or close to it but just because the characters were originally written as younger doesn't mean they have to stay that way. I would love to see an older Percy, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. I want to know what's going on in their lives. Are they trying to living normal lives or are they still dealing with constantly being attacked by monsters and doing quests for the Gods? Are one, two or all three characters running Camp Half-Blood? Are the stakes even higher the older they get because Demigods do have very dangerous lives and most tend to die at a young age.

Well, life, death and quest aside, I also want to know if Annabeth and Percy are together or if they broke up? Is Grover still with Juniper or did they break up? And is there any chance, for both couples if they are broken up to get back together?

I feel like with older characters, a Percy Jackson show could really explore more of the complex stories and darker themes that were included in the books along with all the Greek mythology. I know that a lot of fans want a book accurate TV series with younger actors but a series with older characters could be be amazing as well especially if the show has magnificent writing and directing.

Does anyone else want an older Percy Jackson TV series with the movie actors?

Favorite Fictional Bookworm: Annabeth Chase

One of my Favorite Fictional Bookworms is Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson book series and Heroes of Olympus book series. I'm not sure if she appears in the Magnus Chase or Trials of Apollo book series since I haven't read them yet. Annabeth is a demigod who loves to learn and read which can be attributed to her mother being Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, War (Battle) and Craft.

She's a lifelong learner who has a big interest in architecture, history, philosophy and Greek mythology and read a lot about each topic. Her dream is to become an architect and she received an amazing opportunity to redesign Olympus after the home of the Gods was severely damaged. She now holds the title of Architect of Olympus.

At Camp Half-Blood, all the demigod campers/students are trained in the art of battle. It's a way to make sure they are prepared to fight and survive against the many mythical monsters that will attack them out in the world. The training is also to prepare them for any demigod quests they may be selected for as well.

Aside from all her training, Annabeth is extremely intelligent but is also very logical and rational which allows her to see the big picture and remain calm during a fight or in difficult situations. When she wasn't attending classes or training, Annabeth although a student herself, taught a class on Ancient Greek to the other students. Which was a pretty big deal because that meant she was so knowledgeable about the subject that she was given a chance to teach.

I like Annabeth, she may not have active powers as many of the other demigods like her boyfriend Percy Jackson but she uses her vast intelligence and combat skills to save the day.

Man Crush Monday: Logan Lerman

Since this recent picture of actor Logan Lerman apparently has fans totally obsessing over his gray hair. I'm not sure why so many fans are shocked that he has gray hair? It's not rare to see someone at 28 years old to start going gray. But I think some fans are they're still thinking of how he looked when he starred in the Percy Jackson movies. Although, it doesn't seem like it but it's been ten years since Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was released. So yeah, he's not a kid anymore.

Anyway, I was wondering if you had a favorite Logan Lerman movie? Mine are:

- Perks of Being a Wallflower: This was a really good adaptation of the story and he brought such perfect awkwardness and vulnerability to the role of Charlie.

- Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters: I know a lot of book fans didn't like the Percy Jackson movies but I did. They may have been different from the books but they were fun to watch.

- The Three Musketeers: I love this version because it incorporated a lot of steampunk elements to the story.

Although it's not a movie, I'm totally intrigued by his character Jonah Heidelbaum on the TV series Hunters. I'm glad the show is returning for a second season.

Pride Month: Day #27: Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson series)

Nico di Angelo is the son of Hades, the God of the Underworld, and is a powerful demigod. There is rarely anything he fears but he was afraid of the reaction he thought he would receive if he revealed his sexuality and not to mention his crush on Percy Jackson.

The author Rick Riordan does a great job of creating series that feature a diverse group of characters. I have read nearly all his books from Percy Jackson to the Kane Chronicle series. There is only one book left to read of the Heroes of Olympus series which Nico is actually featured quite a bit in. Following that I would like to read The Trials of Apollo and the Magnus Chase and Gods of Asgard series.

I'm almost finished with The House of Hades and will have my review up tomorrow. I wish Rick Riordan would give Reyna (if she survived Gaea's war) her own series.
