Preview for Hawkeye #10

I really do love the artwork. Hawkeye issue #10 will be available tomorrow. This series has been doing quite well with readers.

Issue #10 description:

The most acclaimed new book of the year continues!

Who pulled the trigger? Where have you seen him before? Have you seen him before? Maybe. But not like this. It’s murder, mayhem, and greasepaint make-up for the money, kids -- and that means playtime is over, Monsieur Hulot. Caw caw.

Illustration of the Day: Dick Grayson

Illustration: Nightwing issue #80

That's no way to keep a low profile Officer Grayson. I highly doubt too many police officers could do that with such ease not even the most athletic ones. He must have forgotten he's not supposed to show amazing skills like that on his day job.

Favorite Fictional Bookworm: Truman from Martha Speaks

Truman Oatley from the PBS show Martha Speaks is one of my Favorite Fictional Bookworms because this little smart guy loves to read books. He can never get enough of learning. He also loves science and for instance in the episode "Truman's Mad", he was so disappointed with the lackluster science kit he ordered, he decided to create his own experiments.

He might not be the most outgoing guy since he's kind of shy and sometimes a little afraid to try new things when he doesn't think he will be good at them like sports or sledding down a huge hill. But even though he's afraid he eventually gives them a try.

Art of the Day: Jean Grey and Scott Summers

Artwork: Late Danger Room Session by Pauris

I love this picture, they just look so happy.

I don't know why over at Marvel they keep Jean and Scott apart. They are so great together and a lot of fans really do want them together. For some reason they like pairing Scott up with a certain blonde (whom I'm not a fan of) but like Lois Lane they have to keep killing off Jean to do it.

Book of Interest: The Fall of Arthur

I read "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White a few years ago and I loved it. So when I saw this online I knew I had to read it. I didn't even know J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a book about King Arthur. It's not available until the end of May.

Here's another book that will be going on my wish list.

Book: The Fall of Arthur by J.R.R. Tolkien with edits by Christopher Tolkien

Book Description:

The world first publication of a previously unknown work by J.R.R. Tolkien, which tells the extraordinary story of the final days of England’s legendary hero, King Arthur.

The Fall of Arthur recounts in verse the last campaign of King Arthur who, even as he stands at the threshold of Mirkwood is summoned back to Britain by news of the treachery of Mordred. Already weakened in spirit by Guinevere's infidelity with the now-exiled Lancelot, Arthur must rouse his knights to battle one last time against Mordred's rebels and foreign mercenaries.

Powerful, passionate and filled with vivid imagery, The Fall of Arthur reveals Tolkien's gift for storytelling at its brilliant best. Originally composed by J.R.R. Tolkien in the 1930s, this work was set aside for The Hobbit and has lain untouched for 80 years.

Now it has been edited for publication by Tolkien's son, Christopher, who contributes three illuminating essays that explore the literary world of King Arthur, reveal the deeper meaning of the verses and the painstaking work that his father applied to bring it to a finished form, and the intriguing links between The Fall of Arthur and his greatest creation, Middle-earth.

This is so cute, I want one. I could see wearing this during the summer. It's also available in white.

Book Girl Thought: Update on my lost book order

Well, it's been over a week and I finally got my lost order situation resolved. However not from the post office but from Amazon.com. They are actually going to ship me another book, I was so surprised that they would even do that. That's very good customer service.

Now, with the post office they says they are still looking for it and also think they may have to investigate to see if it was stolen. Things like that just make you leery to order things but I'm just going to put it down to a fluke since I've never had a shipping problem before. So at least that worked out in the end, hopefully it won't happen again.

2 Comic Books Getting Good Buzz: Adventures of Superman and The Movement

The latest Superman comic to hit the digital shelf is Adventures of Superman written by various authors. The first chapter is available now for 99 cent. You can get the complete first issue in print edition at the end of May. Since I'm a print edition girl, I'll have to wait until then. I'm just glad they ditched Orson Scott Card (he had no place writing for a Superman comic).

Below are three previews for the first chapter:

What I'm Watching Tonight: Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13 (syfy channel) season 4.5 returns tonight (check your local listings for time) with new episodes but with rumors that this might be the last season of the series. I hope it's just a bad rumor, no more good shows should be canceled.

This is such a good show.

Fashion Meets Comics: Lois Lane's Yellow Dress

Fashion Meets Comics, is a new post I'm starting. Who hasn't seen a great outfit or cute accessory in a comic book or a superhero TV show or movie? I just thought I'd add a little fashion to the blog.

And the first post will go to Lois Lane.

Who said comic book ladies are unfashionable? I just love this mod yellow sweater dress Lois Lane is wearing from Superman: Secret Origins #4. It's cheerful, youthful, professional and a little sexy. I don't know why Lois is sometimes drawn wearing something frumpy when she's anything but.

I found this equally cheerful and professional yellow sweater dress from bebe. So now you can take on the world like Lois in this cute yellow dress.

Art of the Day: Ahsoka Tano

Artwork: Camouflage Ahsoka's World by StreetWalker7

It's still pretty sad what happened to Ahsoka Tano in the 4 part season (series) finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Barriss had no problem what so ever framing Ahsoka for the bombing and the murders, just to further her cause (I was a little surprised they turned Barriss into a traitor). But what I think was even worse was that almost all the Jedi (except Anakin and few others) turned their backs on Ahsoka including Yoda. I would have thought he most of all would have believed in her innocence.

Well, now that the show has been canceled, (yeah hard to believe this amazing show won't be returning) we will not get a real series finale. I guess one good thing out the canceling is Disney will not be able to ruin it. I really couldn't see them doing a good job with this show. It doesn't exactly fit with their line of shows.

Now I will definitely have to make sure I get the last three seasons on DVD since there will be no more new episodes.

New Book Purchase: In a Witch's Wardrobe

This is the book I bought on Saturday from the bookstore. I really liked the first book and I plan to read the second book real soon but I just couldn't pass up on getting this book.

Book: In a Witch's Wardrobe (A Witchcraft Mystery #4) by Juliet Blackwell

Book Description:

Lily Ivory is living her dream of owning a vintage clothing store—and practicing magic on the side. But when she encounters a sinister sleeping spell, Lily comes face-to-face with a nightmarish evil…

Taking a night off from running her successful San Francisco clothing store, Lily attends a local art deco ball where vintage fashions steal the show. But when a young woman at the event falls under a mysterious sleeping sickness, Lily senses that a curse was placed on the woman’s corsage.

Before Lily can solve the woman’s magical ailment, she’s asked to assist in investigating a string of poisonings in the Bay Area witchcraft community. She’s gained the trust of the local covens by supporting women’s charities through her clothing store. But soon, Lily suspects that one of her new acquaintances might not be so well intentioned and could be dabbling in dark magic and deadly botany…

Confessions: Harry Potter

Source: harrypotterconfessions.tumblr.com

I agree. I sometimes wonder how Harry's life would have been if he was in Slytherin. Would Harry still be friends with Ron and Hermione or would he had of become friends with Draco? If Ron and Hermione weren't friends with him, would he still have had the courage to defeat Voldemort? Would he have ended up with Ginny? Would Ginny still like Harry if he was a Slytherin? Just a few questions that came to mind when I think of Harry being sorted in Slytherin.

Sunday Summary: April 28th

I hope everyone is having a nice day (even though it's still cold out). Yesterday, I went to a library book sale and got 21 books for less than 1 hardcover book. I found some really good books too. I got a couple of James Patterson books, one Dan Brown and a lot of others. I was really surprised so many good books were still there since a lot of people were there. It's nice to see people buying books. I almost forgot, I also bought another book from the bookstore as well "In a Witch's Wardrobe". I'll post the description tomorrow.

I've been really enjoying "Reel Murder", it's so funny but it's not taking away from the mystery. I'm about half way done. I'm trying not to think about the next book I'm going to read. But it's hard when I have so many good books to read.

This morning I watched two very different movies. The first was "Veronica Guerin" which starred Cate Blanchett, it was based on the life of Ireland reporter Veronica Guerin. She was a real life Lois Lane that for sure and a hero for trying to uncover and stop high powered drug dealers in Ireland. She lost her life fighting to make the world a better place. That was a very good movie, if you haven't seen it, you should it's very moving.

The other movie I watched was "Love Crazy" which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy. That was a really funny movie. I've seen it before but I have not seen it a while. Myrna Loy and William Powell have starred in quite a lot of movies together. I just love "The Thin Man" movies, those are the best.

Well, today I'm going to be reading a little, watching a little "Scooby-Doo" (a couple of the movies will be coming on Cartoon Network in less than hour) and some of the "Leave it to Beaver" marathon on one of the classic TV channels.

If you get a chance tonight, Cartoon Network will be airing a special on Bullying. It's called "The Bully Effect", please check your local listings for the time.

I'm going to enjoy the rest of the day.

Bye

Art of the Day: Dinah Laurel Lance and Barbara Gordon

Artwork: Park Bench by Krystal Beisick (ScaryKrystal)

I wonder if they're gossiping about the latest dumb thing either Ollie or Dick have done or something totally mundane like the Birds next mission. Either way they're just having a girl's day hanging out in the park.

This makes me miss all the old DCU friendships.

Illustration of the Day: The Burden of the Librarian

The artist did this in support of the libraries. Here's a quote: I believe passionately in libraries and have been horrified by the prospect of closures throughout the system as part of local government cuts. I tried to make a useful comic to help but it wound up being a bit... flawed?
------

I think this is funny but also speaks to the importance of libraries and keeping them funded.

Happy Birthday Donna Troy!!!

Happy Birthday to the first Wonder Girl, Donna Troy. She was an awesome member of the original Teen Titans and the JLA. She may not be in the reboot but Donna Troy is still a fan favorite.

Book Review: The Silver Surfer #1 and The Amazing Spider-Man #2

Book: The Silver Surfer issue #1 written by Stan Lee

Rating: 4 stars

My Review:

I found this to be very deep and a bit sad. Everywhere The Silver Surfer traveled around the Earth, he was met with anger, fear, and hostility.

The story opened up with The Silver Surfer hovering above the Earth until he spots an out of control space capsule speeding down towards the planet. The craft carrying Coronel Jameson (I wonder if that was J. Jonah's son) crashed landed into the sea. The Surfer didn't hesitate to save the pilot and delivered the man safely to a US military ship. However, instead of being seen as a hero, they send fighter planes after him.

As The Silver Surfer sped away from them, he reflected on his troubling experience with the people of Earth. No matter where he went, he was seen as a threat even when he was trying to help.

He also reflected on his life before he became The Surfer. His name was Norrin Radd and he once lived on a planet called ZENN-LA. He had been frustrated living in a highly advanced society and yearned for something more. His chance came when a threating space craft showed up. The people of his planet didn't know what to do, they had to consult a computer for help and it instructed them to fire a very powerful weapon (one of the only ones they have) at that approaching craft. The results were devastating, destroying almost everything that is except the space craft.

With everything nearly destroyed the people were all for giving up that is except Norrin.  He convinced a scientist to build him a space ship so he could confront the inhabitants of the approaching ship. Once aboard the other craft, he found the greatest threat to the galaxy, Galactus who was there to destroy ZENN-LA. To save his planet, Norrin sacrificed his life to become The Surfer, who would travel the universe finding other planets for Galactus to feed upon.

Once The Surfer started his travels wherever he went he found planets that were full of life and just couldn't see them being destroyed. That is until he found Earth but after some time exploring he also couldn't see it being destroyed so assisting The Fantastic Four, he helped stop Galactus. But not before having his space traveling powers removed leaving his confined to Earth with no way to return to his home.

I used to think Spider-Man had it bad but hands down the Silver Surfer's life is much worse. At least Peter can go back to his life once he's no longer Spider-Man unlike Norrin Radd he will forever be The Silver Surfer.

It makes me wonder if given the chance would Norrin trade his new life to get his old boring one back? At least with the boring life, he wouldn't have to worry about being hated wherever he goes.

75th Anniversary: Smallville's Lois and Clark: Their Journey to Love and Journalism

This is my second installment for the 75th Anniversary of Action Comics #1. This time I decided to focus on Smallville's story of Lois and Clark.

by Book Girl

Smallville changed for the better when Lois Lane showed up in the fourth season. She was this tough talking tomboy who was trying to find out who was responsible for the "death" of her cousin Chloe Sullivan (still not fan of them being related).

Once Clark was no longer "Kal-El" and was returned to normal, we got to see the making of the legendary Daily Planet duo as they looked for clues to the whereabouts of Lois' cousin. Right off the bat you could see she challenged him and brought out his competitive spirit. I found it interesting that despite only knowing Lois for a short amount of time, Clark could be himself around her unlike with Chloe and Lana. Even though there was no romance in the beginning, you could see Lois had made an impression on him. She was different from all the other girls in Smallville. I love the banter and snarkiness between the two of them. Once the mystery was solved and Chloe was found safe and alive, Lois embarked on her next adventure, high school. Due to a misunderstanding about her high school credits her father, General Sam Lane re-enrolled her into Smallville high where she would join Clark, well at least until it was all sorted.

Despite the rough edges that were shown during the fourth season you could still see the future investigative reporter in the making. Even though she was reluctant to join the Smallville high school Torch newspaper in the episode Façade, she excelled at reporting and wrote an immensely popular article titled "SKIN DEEP Behind the Mask of the High School Façade". Interesting since she didn't see herself in the news business at all. Her brief stint as a reporter introduced that little spark towards a career in Journalism.

Clark's name might not have appeared on the byline of Lois' stories but he assisted her with not only in the episode "Façade" but also in the episode "Devoted". He went undercover to help her by distracting one of the love crazy cheerleaders so Lois could get her hands on the formula those crazy girls used to drug the football team with kryptonite laced sports drinks. And "Devoted" also marks Clark's return to the school paper having left to play football.

Throughout the remainder of seasons 5 through 7, we got to see both Lois and Clark still trying to figure out who they were and what they wanted to do with their lives. Although, Lois was working at The Talon and Clark was in college (not studying journalism) during the fifth season, that journalism bug was still there. In the episode "Exposed" Lois went undercover to assist Chloe with a story concerning the murder of a stripper, missing women and the possible connection to a politician. Meanwhile, Clark was also investigating the same lead to prove his father's old friend the Kansas Senator wasn't involved with the murder. I find it interesting that both Lois and Clark did all the work but Chloe was the only one with an article printed in The Daily Planet.

Still not sure about her career plans, Lois ended up being Mr. Kent's campaign manager during his run for Senator against Lex Luthor in the episode "Fanatic". Initially she only wanted to help Mr. Kent because Lex insulted her by calling her "a muffin-peddling college dropout" after she suggested he drop out of the political race in the episode "Solitude". Working with Mr. Kent gave her a front row seat into the world of politics and crime and corruption.

I don't think Lois dabbling in politics is off course towards her becoming a journalist because I felt like it gave her a chance to see the fight for truth and justice through working to get Mr. Kent elected. She gained even more experience when she worked for Mrs. Kent after Martha took over as Senator following her husband's death.

Now, while Lois was getting all this experience Clark was mainly focused on the heroics (and brooding over Lana dating Lex) but you could still see where he was heading career wise but just at a much slower pace than Lois. By the sixth season, Lois had finally started working as a reporter albeit at a tabloid paper but she was finally in journalism. Her first big break came when she wrote the article "Unmasking the Green Arrow Bandit" which started her on the path to working at The Daily Planet in the 7th season.

It wasn't until the eight season when Lois was at her one year mark when Clark started working at the Daily Planet. Saying he was a fish out of water was an understatement, poor guy he actually showed up to his first day of work in a plaid shirt and jeans. But with a little help from Lois and a little advice from her "Rules of Reporting", Clark was ready to go.

What I love about seasons 8 through 10, you got to see them both mature and grow into the characters we all know and love. There were still a few bumps along the way but you were starting to see Clark transforming into the Man of Steel (and the introduction of the glasses), Lois turning into the world's greatest reporter (with an amazing wardrobe) and the start of a budding romance between them.

I enjoyed their romantic relationship gradually developing instead of being rushed. They went from friends and colleagues to a meaningful relationship. The romance didn't stop them from being ace reporters either.

These last few seasons brought about some key points for both of them such as Clark discovering and fighting alongside the heroes of the Justice Society of America ("Absolute Justice") and Lois getting a chance to work with the legendary Perry White ("Hostage") gathering information on government conspiracies. I believe these two points showed how their lives were going to play out, Clark embracing being a hero and Lois becoming one of the best reporters around.

Smallville got a lot of flack from some Superman "fans" as not really being about the "real" story of The Man of Steel. But I think the story is there but it was given a fresh take to show how it was not just a discovery for Clark but for Lois as well. They went from being like so many young people trying to figure out their lives to finding their own way to the lives that they wanted. I would consider that being true to the Superman story.

Illustration of the Day: Wonder Woman's Reaction after being asked if she's dating Superman

Illustration: Justice League of America issue #90

Diana totally laughed out loud to that question. I was never a fan of Diana dating either Clark or Bruce. I always saw those three as being good friends almost like siblings.

Yet that's what issue #90 is about, Diana's feelings towards Bruce. She wondered about a possible relationship and used a machine to help her figure out her feelings. In the end she came to the conclusion that her and Bruce should just be friends.

Which was a good thing well at least to me. What's wrong with Diana dating Steve Trevor? I think Steve Trevor is really cool. I can't wait until this faux-mance between Wonder Woman and Superman is over so we can see Diana and Steve date.

Comic Book Wednesday: April 24th Picks

Batman: The Dark Knight issue #19

I've been reading this series and I think's it pretty good. I find it to be much better than the actual Batman series.

Ultimate Spider-Man issue #13

This series is based on the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series that's on Disney XD. I love watching the cartoon it's really funny but not stupid. Peter is still sort of training so he can get better at the superhero business. I haven't read any of the comic books before but I want to start. Hopefully it's as good as the show, I'm going to try to find this at my local comic book store.

Batman, Incorporated issue #10

I'm still not happy with this series especially since they killed off Damian Wayne. I just want to finish this up so I can see how it ends. Damian's death still doesn't have any real meaning if you ask me but hopefully there will be something worth while with the remainder of the series. Issue #13 will be the last since Grant Morrison will be leaving.

Art of the Day: Avatar: The Last Airbender: Aang and Appa

Artwork: Aang Meets Appa by KimchiCrusader

Aww, isn't this just adorable? I think this picture is very cute. Aang when he first got his good friend Appa, the sky bison. On the show I like how they didn't just treat Appa like he was nothing more than animal transportation. They actually showed that he was a real part of Team Avatar unlike in that horrible The Last Airbender movie.

Does anyone understand how they could have made such a horrible movie when they had the original material (the cartoon series) for research? Well, that's a discussion for a different post. Isn't this picture just the cutest?

Wish List Wednesday: The Tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones

I've been thinking about buying this book for a while, it's different. It has a very dark gothic feel to it. I think it would be a really good and wonderfully strange read.

Book: The Tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones by Jack Wolf

Book Description:

Meet Tristan Hart, a brilliant young man of means. The year is 1751, and at the age of twenty he leaves home to study medicine at the great hospital of St. Thomas in London. It will be a momentous year for the intellectually ambitious Mr. Hart, who, in addition to being a student of Locke and Descartes and a promising young physician, is also, alas, psychotic. He is obsessed with the nature of pain and medically preventing it, but—equally strong and much harder to control—is his obsession with causing it. Desperate to understand his deviant desires before they are his undoing, he uses the new tools of the age—reason and science and skepticism—to plumb the depths of his own dark mind.

Profoundly imaginative, unexpectedly funny, and with a strange but moving love story at its heart, The Tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones is an oddly beautiful and daring novel about the relationship between the mind and body, sex, madness, pain, and the existence of God.

Thor 2: The Dark World Trailer

Trailer #1

Release Date: Friday, November 8, 2013

The Trailer for Thor: The Dark World looks really good. I can't wait to see it.

Teen Titans Go! Review

So, what did everyone think of Teen Titans Go!? I thought it was really funny. I love how adorable the art style is and the fun approach the creators took with the show. It's something different and I like how the show turned out. I can't wait for the new episode next Tuesday.

If you watched the show? What did you think of it? Let me know.

Trailers for Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3      Release Date: Friday, May 3rd

The Iron Man 3 movie looks good. Hopefully, Pepper Potts will actually do something in the third movie because in the first two movies and including her appearance in The Avengers movie, she has done absolutely nothing worth while other than be Tony Stark's love interest.

Illustration of the Day: Smallville: Lois and Clark

Illustration: Smallville season 11 issue #1 (print) or #2 (digital)

I love this panel above because Lois is just going on about her busy day talking about her article. It's just too bad she didn't get a chance to spell check it. And we all know how bad a speller Lois is, right?

I have to say Smallville season 11 is one of the best Superman comics that DC Comics is putting out right now. And I think it's going to be even better (well at least for me) now that Chloe and Oliver will be - hopefully - gone from the books. They were really dragging the books down and no longer added anything to the series. I really hope they don't return anytime soon.

Anyone else reading Smallville season 11? What do you think about it?

Confessions: DC Comics

Source: dccomicsconfessions.tumblr.com

I completely agree with this confession because those of us who do "complain" we don't do it just to do it. The new 52 hasn't been the best books by far and we really just wish those books and characters would get better. And for some they have gotten worse (case in point Tim Drake).

I love these confessions because the fans just pour their hearts out about whatever they love or loathe.

Art of the Day: Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson

Artwork: Annabeth Chase by JuliaJM15

I think Annabeth Chase is a great character in the Percy Jackson series. As the daughter of Athena, Annabeth is skilled in the art of war and battle. She also has a love of architecture.

Annabeth is one of my favorite characters (out a series that features awesome characters). I love that she's not just a damsel-in-distress or only there as the love interest. She's smart, a bit bossy, and really cool. I can't imagine the series without her.

Book Girl Thoughts: Poor Postal Service

I ordered a book from Amazon.com but my local postal service lost it and they are now trying to give me the run around. They don't know what happened to it, I was told it was either stolen or placed in the wrong mail box. That's just great.

This just making me lean to the side of buying an e-reader because then I wouldn't have to worry about not receiving the items I purchased. But I love reading an actual book.

Anyway, now, I'll have to wait to until the manger calls me back today to either tell me they found it or they will reimburse me for it.

What I'm Watching Tonight: Teen Titans Go!

Artwork: Teen Titans are Back! by Gretel Lusky

This show looks like it will be just as good as the original series. The Teen Titans are back tonight on Cartoon Network (please check your local listings for the time).

As much as I like the Young Justice animated series, it was missing some humor and it was way too focused on the all the relationships, which was taking away from the show. That's why I can't wait to watch Teen Titans tonight.

Book of Interest: Pride and Prejudice: Graphic Novel

Okay, who doesn't love Pride and Prejudice? It's one of my favorite books by Jane Austen. Did you know there was a graphic novel? I just have to read this.

Book: Pride and Prejudice by Nancy Butler (Adaptor from the original work by Jane Austen) and Hugo Petrus (Illustrator)

Book Description:

Tailored from the adored Jane Austen classic, Marvel Comics is proud to present PRIDE AND PREJUDICE! Two-time Rita Award-Winner Nancy Butler and fan-favorite Hugo Petrus faithfully adapt the whimsical tale of Lizzy Bennet and her loveable-if-eccentric family, as they navigate through tricky British social circles. Will Lizzy's father manage to marry off his five daughters, despite his wife's incessant nagging? And will Lizzy's beautiful sister Jane marry the handsome, wealthy Mr. Bingley, or will his brooding friend Mr. Darcy stand between their happiness?

Includes issues #1-5.

Confessions: Harry Potter

Source: harrypotterconfessions.tumblr.com

I found this on the internet and I can agree with who ever posted this confession on the Harry Potter Confessions site. I truly think the HP books are really wonderful to read.

Illustration of the Day: Wally West and Linda Park

Illustration: The Flash 80 page giant

After rewatching the Young Justice episode "Endgame" I just felt like posting something with Wally West and Linda Park. I always like these two together, they were a good match.

As for Young Justice I didn't understand why they didn't include Linda in the show. Since none of the characters were how they are usually shown then they could have included her in a different way. Instead they paired Wally with the annoying Artemis only to kill the poor guy off on the last episode. Poor Wally, he's not even in the reboot and on YJ he's killed off.

That why I love this scene above, Wally is just so happy that Linda is in his life.

Currently Reading: Reel Murder

After reading Lord of the Rings I wanted to read something a bit different. Reel Murder is the second book in Talk Radio Mystery series. I thought the first book was funny and had a good mystery.

Book: Reel Murder (A Talk Radio Mystery #2) by Mary Kennedy

Book Description:

Maggie is really getting into the swing of her daily radio show. She loves her new life in Cypress Grove, Florida, where she considers herself a Dr. Phil–minus the money and the fame. Unfortunately, she’s also minus the fans. So when a big movie company hits town, Maggie’s producer thinks a few exclusive on-set interviews could mean a ratings boost.

But no sooner does Maggie slip her way into a job as a script consultant than the leading lady ends up dead from a prop gun that’s been tampered with. With the help of sexy Detective Rafe Martino, Maggie discovers a bevy of behind-the-scenes secrets that could be motives for murder. Now she’d better find the killer before the credits roll–or it might be her own final performance.

Art of the Day: from Green Lantern: Razer and Aya

Artwork: Razor and Aya by Angelus-v1

I thought the Green Lantern animated series finale was really sad but rather sweet with Aya and Razer. I really hope GL will return it was a great show. I really want to know if Aya will be found and if that blue ring means Razor will become a Blue Lantern.

Book Review: The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

Book: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Book #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien

Rating: 4 1/2 stars

My Review:

Frodo is undergoing one dangerous adventure that I would not wish to take on that's for sure. Despite being small, I found Frodo to be rather brave to undertake such a task.

I really enjoyed reading this book because you got a real tale that felt like something old and long ago. I also like that you never were quite sure what was going to happen next even among the group that Frodo was traveling in.

Throughout this story you got to know quite a lot of interesting characters such as Bilbo, Gandalf, Aragorn, Sam and Legolas. I thought the author did a great job of giving all of the different characters distinct personalities.

This book ended on a cliffhanger but it also left me eager to read the second book. Modern fantasy adventure writers should give credit or thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien for creating such a vivid and interesting tale and that's only the first book. I really look forward to reading the remainder two books.

Illustration of the Day: Helena Bertinelli (Huntress)

Illustration: Birds of Prey v2 issue #6

Helena has an interesting way of accepting apologies but I guess that goon will try not to knee anyone else in the gut again that's for sure. I miss Helena Bertinelli, she was such a fun character.

Book of Interest: Love and Capes Volume #1

I've heard some pretty good things about this series and I really want to read it. This is a cute and lighthearted series, which is good for me since I've been looking for something else to read now that Superman Family Adventures will be ending next week.

This series will be a nice addition especially after reading so many dreary comics lately. This is going on my wish list.

The Results from the Lois Lane 75th Anniversary Tweeting

I enjoyed the Lois Lane tweeting last night on Twitter. It was fun to read all the good things fans had to say about the 75th anniversary of Action Comics #1 and for Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman.

We tweeted for two hours and were able to reached the top of the Twitter Trends last night. I thought that was so cool. It shows how much Lois Lane means to fans and how disappointed they are with the way DC Comics has been handling the character.

Something else I thought was really cool, that Erica Durance (Lois Lane from Smallville),  Teri Hatcher (Lois Lane from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Dana Delaney (Lois Lane from Superman: The Animated Series) also joined in.

And you know what, even if DC Comics doesn't do anything (which I highly doubt they would do anyway) to celebrate Lois Lane for the 75th anniversary, the fans showed that they care and that speaks volumes whether DC wants to admit it or not.
