Most Memorable Scene: Wonder Woman Movie: No Man's Land

I couldn't think of a better day than Comic Book Wednesday and Wonder Woman Wednesday to post this Most Memorable Scene from the first Wonder Woman movie. War is horrible and this movie didn't make a joke about it either. And to see Diana leave the trenches and walk across the battlefield is a defining moment for her character. Because this is the reason why she left Themyscira, she wanted to make a different in Man's World.

Wonder Woman Wednesday: My thoughts on why some fans thought Wonder Woman seemed "out of character" in WW84

Although, I wrote a review for Wonder Woman 1984, I had a few more thoughts. Prior to watching the movie, I made a point of avoiding spoilers or anyone's reaction about Wonder Woman 1984 until after I watched it. I didn't realize until now that the movie didn't connect with a lot of fans.

I was surprised that so many didn't like the movie and many thought Diana was out of character. In a way they were right in that regards because she was out of character but that was from her wish that was granted by the stone. It was causing Diana to seem a little selfish and not want to give up the one thing she has been longing for, for so long. Any wish the stone (and Maxwell Lord) granted seemed to make the recipient change on some level. While Diana was losing a little bit of herself and her powers, Dr. Barbara Minerva was losing her humanity in exchange of power. Meanwhile, Maxwell Lord was so focused on proving doubters wrong about him that the stone had fully corrupted him causing him to lose focus on the most important thing in his life. So it wasn't just Diana who "was out of character", it was that she and so many others were being corrupted by the stone.

Even though, I loved the movie, I know others didn't because not everyone will like the same thing. I just wanted to post my thoughts on why some fans thought Diana was out of character.

Art of the Day: Wonder Woman

I can't believe I've watched Wonder Woman 1984 three times and each time I noticed so many different things. I wish the film showed a little more of Diana's life after World War I because seeing the pictures was really cool. But she had been in man's world for over 60 years and it would be interesting to know how she managed to stay under the radar yet obviously lived her life. I think her life post WWI would make an interesting WW84 tie-in story. Maybe that's a post for another day.

Movie Review: Wonder Woman 1984

From its clever opening moment of young Diana on Themyscira learning a valuable life lesson to the impactful ending, Wonder Woman 1984 was a amazing sequel to the 2017 hit movie Wonder Woman. It's a rare follow-up that bursts with action, fun and endless surprises that'll keep you guessing. Because as I was watching the movie, I couldn't stop wondering what was going to happen next especially as Diana had a lot to deal with in this movie. Not only was she going to have to stop the ever increasing chaos causing Maxwell Lord but also her former friend the powerful Dr. Barbara Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah.

Steve Trevor's return was very surprising but there was nothing surprising about Diana and Steve's love. It's very palpable. I just loved watching all of their scenes because their amazing chemistry makes it feel as if no time had been lost between them. However, his return will have Diana making a tough decision. There is a scene that will make you feel her pain and sorrow but despite the despair it shows that Diana's strength is not from her powers but from her heart.

With spectacular action, deeply rich characters and an engrossing story, this has become one of my new favorite movies. I also loved the wardrobe from the over the top 80s fashion to Diana's classic style, it was incredible. I'll have to write something about it for another post. What I found to be the most striking element of this film is that it shows there can be great consequences to our decisions. Although we may get exactly what we want or think we want that doesn't mean it's not hurting us or so many others.

Comic Book Wednesday: December 30th

We are one day away from saying goodbye to 2020, and since I have no actually picks for this last Comic Book Wednesday, I wanted to know what's something about comics you enjoyed this year?

1. I enjoyed seeing new writers and artists get a chance to work on books and series.

2. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The show aired its seventh and final season this year. Although AoS may have started out a little slow in the first season, I even stopped watching for a few episodes but I returned. And by the end of the season 1, the show had really improved. But it really got better in the second season all the way to the finale season. I know I might have been a little disappointed with the first few episodes of the first season but I'm glad I went back because this little show which is overlooked by some comic book fans turned out to be an amazing series.

3. Getting to watch Wonder Woman 1984 at home during a pandemic. I haven't watched the movie yet, I'm saving it for tomorrow but I'm forever thankful it was released on HBO Max. Because no matter how much I wanted to see this movie there was no way I was going to a theatre to see it.

4. Less comic book/superhero movies. I don't know, it was just nice being able to enjoy the year with only a few movies that were released.

5. Being able to attend virtual comic cons. Since we're in a pandemic, it was understandable that cons were cancelled but instead of getting rid of them altogether many went virtual and were free. Fans were able to see different panels and other special things all from the comfort of home.

Well, my fellow comic book fans, I hope the new year will bring us even more good things in comics.

On My List: December 29th

As the year is quickly counting down, there are a few new movies On My List that I want to watch: Sylvie's Love, We Can Be Heroes and Wonder Woman 1984. And since I have fewer Christmas movies to watch, yes I'm still watching them, I will be watching one of those new movies during the last three days of the month and year.

Book Girl Thoughts: I'm Still Watching Christmas Movies!

How was everyone’s Christmas? Did you get what you wanted?

I haven't watched Wonder Woman 1984 yet but I plan to. The reason why I haven't is because I'm still watching Christmas movies, shows and specials. After Thanksgiving, I'm all about Christmas. I love watching all the movies, show and specials I can find. I'm watching a movie right now as I write this and will watch another once it ends.

As much as I love Wonder Woman and I really can't wait to watch the new movie, I have to finish enjoying Christmas. Yes, the holiday is over but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy all the movies and more until New Year's Eve. Because you know Hallmark will still show movies until the new year. That network never missed an opportunity to promote Christmas by showcasing it over two different channels. I also have some Christmas movies on DVD that I haven't watched this year, maybe I'll pull a few off the shelf and watch them.

While I'm spending my day watching Christmas movies, just know that I am eagerly waiting to watch Wonder Woman 1984. So, no spoilers. Happy Holidays everyone.

Entertainment News: Wonder Woman 1984 Delayed Again

The highly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed yet again, the movie was originally supposed to be released on December 13, 2019 but due to the pandemic, it has been moved several times: November 1, 2019, June 5, 2020 and August 14, 2020. And since then it has been moved from October 2 to December 25th. With the virus still very much rampant throughout the United States, it will be interesting if this release date will change yet again.

As a huge Wonder Woman fan, I really can't wait to see this movie but with the ongoing pandemic in this country, I have no desire to sit in a movie theatre trying to watch a movie. I don't understand why Warner Bros. would continue to keep delaying this movie instead of releasing it on DVD/Blu-ray or On Demand. As a big budget movie, I know Warner Bros. would like to get as much money from the box office as possible but I'm sure if Wonder Woman 1984 was released video on demand, it would make a lot of money especially from fans such as myself who don't want to go to the theatre at all right now.

Toy Corner: Barbie Signature Wonder Woman 1984 Set: Steve Trevor and Diana Prince

Although, the Wonder Woman 1984 movie is delayed until October 2nd, the merchandise is not. This collector's 2-doll set is really cool, it included Steve Trevor and Diana Prince wearing these stylish 80s outfits that are featured in the upcoming movie.

I love this dress Diana is wearing, it's so beautiful and I'm sure it's going to be even more impressive on screen. Meanwhile, Steve definitely has the typical 80s look which unfortunately includes the hideous fanny pack. I've never understood the appeal of it, but the fanny pack was an 80s fashion staple even if it was ugly.

Anyway, this set is priced at $80 and is available for pre-order. It's scheduled to be released on July 22nd, so my fellow collectors, be sure pick this up and add it to your collection. I plan on getting one too.

Is this a collector's Must Have? I certainly think so. This golden armored Wonder Woman action figure from the Wonder Woman 1984 movie is so awesome. I love that the wings are detachable because it's great for some collectors who may have limited shelf space (such as myself). 

I can't wait to see the new Wonder Woman movie but until then I have to get this action figure. Who's adding this to their collectables list?

I am thankful for all the women who inspire and fight for equality and help make the world a better place. We have to not only support and champion others but for ourselves as well. I hope that we never have to settle for less but continue to strive for our dreams and goals.

Entertainment Weekly's "Wonder Woman 1984" Cover

I can't wait to see Wonder Woman 1984 and this cover is awesome. The New 52 really put an big emphasis on Wonder Woman using a sword and shield and unfortunately made its way into the first movie. Which is why I'm glad that the upcoming sequel will focus less on her wielding these weapons because she really doesn't need them. This was one of the things I missed about Wonder Woman and it's good to see at least the movie-verse making a return to it.

Side Note: if anyone is on the fence about seeing the Birds of Prey movie, please go see it. Guys, I can't overstate how fun this movie is, I'm thinking about seeing it again this weekend. I rarely go back to see a movie a second time, I usually wait until it's out on DVD/Blu-ray.

Are Diana and Steve Trevor in the Invisible Jet in the "Wonder Woman 1984" trailer?

In the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer, there is this scene below that shows Diana and Steve Trevor flying in a jet and it has a lot of us fans wondering if they are in the infamous invisible plane? Since this trailer doesn't answer the question, I guess we'll just have to wait until June to find out. I do hope it is because it would be so amazing if her invisible plane was featured in the movie.

Trailer for Wonder Woman 1984

Awesome trailer! I'm not going to even guess as to how Steve Trevor is back but no matter the reason I'm glad he is. However, I can't help wondering if this means Wonder Woman 1984 cancels out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in regards to Wonder Woman? In that movie, it showed Diana had pretty much given up on helping people after World War I until she joined forces with Batman and Superman to stop Doomsday.

From looking at this trailer it looks like Wonder Woman was out their fighting and helping people in the 80s and unless this movie is still tied into BvS there might be something that happens to erase all the things she's doing in the movie.  Anyway, I can't wait to see this which is in theaters June 5, 2020.

Fandom Friday: I love the movie costumes for Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel

I thought both Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel movies were amazing and had interesting and unique stories led by these powerful characters. And I also love the costumes for both characters, they are both militaristic in style and include protective armor with both perfectly representing the characters and the stories they were in.

Diana's suit represents the rich history of Themsycira and Ancient Greece while Carol's suit represents her life as a pilot and her time among the stars as a member of the Starforce. I really think both costume designers deserved awards for creating these very detailed suits. I'm truly a fan.

I would like to give thanks to all who have served and lost their lives. Wars are something that should only happen when necessary because even when you win there are still so many losses. I would also like to give thanks to those who are currently serving or who have served.

In honor of Memorial Day, I wanted to put together a list of movies that show characters fighting for something. From an alien attack in Battle: Los Angeles to fighting against Nazis in Captain America: The First Avenger these movies show the dedication and bravery to fight for either a change or a better world or to fix a colossal mistake such as in Kong: Skull Island where the military ventured some where they should have never gone.
