After Dr. Erin Gilbert is disgraced at a job interview for her belief in ghosts, she is roped by her former colleague Abby Yates and Abby's new co-worker, Jillian Holtzmann, into investigating a haunting. The three scientists soon discover that some specters do far more than go bump in the night.
MTA employee Patty Tolan finds that New York City's subway tunnels are becoming a hive of ghostly apparitions. She calls on Erin, Abby, and Jillian to investigate, revealing that paranormal activity across New York City is swiftly becoming a disaster of near biblical proportions.
Together these four would-be paranormal investigators are determined to find out what's going on, save their city, and maybe make a profit while they're at it. The team must stop a mysterious evil, known only as Rowan, from destroying the barrier between this life and the next and turning Manhattan into a literal hellscape.
I hope there will be lots of candy, scary movies and fun times for everyone today! Whether you're dressed as monsters, superheroes or whatever you're wearing there are some good comics out today for Comic Book Wednesday which is great if you feel like staying in.
DC Comics has more Hanna-Barbera crossover books from Deathstroke to Superman teaming up with various cartoon characters. I also have the first issue of the new series Hex Wives on my list along with Batman Secret Files. Marvel has an Avengers Halloween Special and a What If? Magik issue.
Regardless of what books you pick up today, have a spooktacular time enjoying the day.
Archie Comics
Book:Archie Meets Batman '66 #4
Description:
In Gotham, it's Jughead vs. the Joker! Meanwhile, back in Riverdale, all the boys are under the spell of the mysterious new teacher. With the heroes in the throes of a death trap will Batman be able to save Riverdale before it's too late?
I think Aja Naomi King is so adorable, I can see casting her in a quirky New Girl-esque romantic comedy. Her character Michaela Pratt on How to Get Away With Murder is such an up tight, type-A perfectionist that it would be cool to see King in a more humorous role.

I love fairy tales, it doesn't matter if I'm watching the Disney movies or reading stories or watching movies that are a retelling of the classic version, original stories or something more dark and fractured. Which is why I want to read Uprooted, it seems like a story that I would really like.
I wonder if this is a retelling or an original story because I don't recall if there is a fairy tale that centers around a dragon (other than Sleepy Beauty). Either way I really would to read this.
Book:Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Description:
“Our Dragon doesn’t eat the girls he takes, no matter what stories they tell outside our valley. We hear them sometimes, from travelers passing through. They talk as though we were doing human sacrifice, and he were a real dragon. Of course that’s not true: he may be a wizard and immortal, but he’s still a man, and our fathers would band together and kill him if he wanted to eat one of us every ten years. He protects us against the Wood, and we’re grateful, but not that grateful.”
Agnieszka loves her valley home, her quiet village, the forests and the bright shining river. But the corrupted Wood stands on the border, full of malevolent power, and its shadow lies over her life.
Her people rely on the cold, driven wizard known only as the Dragon to keep its powers at bay. But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for ten years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood.
The next choosing is fast approaching, and Agnieszka is afraid. She knows—everyone knows—that the Dragon will take Kasia: beautiful, graceful, brave Kasia, all the things Agnieszka isn’t, and her dearest friend in the world. And there is no way to save her.
But Agnieszka fears the wrong things. For when the Dragon comes, it is not Kasia he will choose.
Hey everyone good morning. I was wondering what new movies you were thinking of getting this week? I want to get Teen Titans Go! To The Movies and The Spy Who Dumped Me. Teen Titans is such a fun movie I can't recommend it enough and if you haven't seen it yet please do. I don't think you will be disappointed. As for The Spy Who Dumped Me, I didn't see it when it was in theatres but it looks like it's a fun action comedy. Even though it's not included in this post, the Blu-ray edition of Batman: The Animated Series is also available today.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies
Description:
A villain's maniacal plan for world domination sidetracks five teenage superheroes who dream of Hollywood stardom.
Crimson Peak is such an underrated movie, it's a gothic romantic horror. I think since Edith was so sheltered she was not prepared for the likes of Sir Thomas Sharpe and his sister Lady Lucille Sharpe. However, she survived nonetheless through her sheer desire to escape the nightmare she found herself in.
It's still disappointing how little screen time Jubilee got in X-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox had this rising star Lana Condor and completely wasted an opportunity to give her more scenes. She was barely in the movie.
Which is why I was happy she was cast as Lara Jean in the Netflix movie "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" which is based on the book by Jenny Han. And the movie is considered one of the most watched movies on Netflix. According to reports it was noted as being the "most viewed original films ever with strong repeat viewing".
To All The Boys is such a cute little romantic comedy, I would totally recommend watching it if you haven't.
With Gotham ending with the upcoming fifth season, I decided to rewatch the series. I haven't rewatched the first season since it originally aired in 2014 but something I realized after rewatching the first four episodes is that the show wasn't as bad as I remembered. I can admit that I was wrong and that perhaps I was a bit too hard on the first season. It had all the things I enjoyed so much about seasons 2-4 (compelling and complex story coupled with the unexpected dramatic zaniness) but it was just not perfected yet.
That hint of darkness and instability with so many of the characters (Edward Nigma, Barbara Kean, etc.) was there but they were not at the point to completely embrace it yet. I also wasn't very fair to young Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth (both characters I since grew to love) because when I first watched the show I thought they were the weak links and thought perhaps they should have had limited scenes. Bruce's progression from scared kid to determined hero was there, he was studying cases and trying to learn as much as possible. He already knew what he was planning to do while Alfred was trying his best to get Bruce to remain a child as well as give him the guidance he was going to need for his future endeavor.
The only part of the show I didn't have fault with was Selina Kyle, she has been my favorite character from the moment she appeared on screen creeping out of the shadows and landing on her feet on a busy street.
As I continue with my Gotham rewatch the point I wanted to make was that your first opinion can sometimes be wrong but it's okay if it changes later on.
Every time something bad happens such as today's latest mass shooting at the Pittsburgh Synagogue, a bomber sending out bombs to prominent Democrat leaders or the two people who were killed outside of a Kroger in Kentucky or the horrible things in general that happen all around the world I debate whether or not to say something on my blog. I try to focus on books and geek culture but as the world continues to be on a downward spiral with hatred fueling so much of it and I have to say something.
I offer my condolences to the family of the victims but hatred will not just go away especially not with an administration that fuels racism, hatred and violence on a daily basis. But I'm not going to let anyone's hatred stop me from being a compassionate person or stop me from spreading love and kindness.
I had to post this picture of the cat that plays Salem in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV Series. He walked the black carpet for the premiere party of the Netflix series. I think it's so cool that this adorable little cat attended the party.
So have you guys watched the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina yet? I haven't but I plan on watching the first two episodes on Monday.

Edition: Single Print Issues
Description:

Is October the month of the Witch? Well it sure seems like it is at least for TV because Charmed premiered on the 14th, the Good Witch Halloween movie aired on the 21st and today is the premiere of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. All 20 episodes of the first season of the show is available on Netflix and the show is based on the comic book Chilling Adventures of Sabrina by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with illustrations by Robert Hack.
Initially, I wasn't the big fan of the Chilling Adventure of Sabrina after reading the first issue and that's because I prefer my Archie Comics to be a bit more humorous and not so dark and grim. However, I am planning on giving both the book and the TV show a chance. You never know, I just might find a new favorite show (and book).
Starring: Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Jaz Sinclair, Tati Gabrielle and more
Description:
As her 16th birthday nears, Sabrina must choose between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends. Based on the Archie comic.
It's not hard to spot Michelle Jones, she's the only one reading a book during gym class. And the book she's reading is Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maughm. I guess to make Michelle stand out, she was shown either reading, drawing, saying something quirky or trying her best not to be a part of the crowd. She wasn't anti-social but she didn't seem too motivated to hang out with others. She's an interesting character but she's also a little weird which is something you don't see too often for female characters.
Even though I enjoyed watching Spider-Man: Homecoming I still feel like it took a lot inspiration from Miles Morales' Spider-Man stories. It just didn't feel like a Peter Parker story instead it felt like Marvel Studios went of out their way to make an Ultimate Spider-Man movie but without Miles Morales as Spider-Man.
I've been thinking of reading the Supernatural book series (there is currently 15 books published), I'm interested in seeing what new supernatural stuff Sam and Dean Winchester will have to deal with. Just look at the description for this book, they are dealing with a killer who is using Edgar Allan Poe's stories for inspiration. I'm sure there's will be a supernatural angle to this other wise it would not be a supernatural story.
Book:Nevermore (Supernatural book #1) by Keith R.A. DeCandido
Description:
Twenty-two years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. In the years after, their father, John, taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America...and he taught them how to kill it.
Sam and Dean have hit New York City to check out a local rocker's haunted house. But before they can figure out why a lovesick banshee in an '80s heavy-metal T-shirt is wailing in the bedroom, a far more macabre crime catches their attention. Not far from the house, two university students were beaten to death by a strange assailant. A murder that's bizarre even by New York City standards, it's the latest in a line of killings that the brothers soon suspect are based on the creepy stories of legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe.
Their investigation leads them to the center of one of Poe's horror classics, face-to-face with their most terrifying foe yet. And if Sam and Dean don't rewrite the ending of this chilling tale, a grisly serial killer will end their lives forevermore.
Out of all the characters in the MCU I think Thor has suffered the most and lost the most. His family, his friends and his home are all gone. I know there are still some survivors from the Thanos attack out there but I wonder how will he find them so they can rebuild. As of now, Thor is a King without a kingdom.
I have been trying my best to avoid seeing all the behind the scenes pictures of the actors filming the Arrowverse crossover that The CW, actors, fans and the media have been posting. And that's only because I don't want to be spoiled by anything I might see. However, I saw this picture and I had to post it.
I don't know what's going on in this scene with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) but it's looks fascinating. And what is Lois carrying? I wonder if that's some type of Kryptonian weapon or something Brainiac 5 created for them to use in stopping a villain their fighting.
Regardless, I can't wait to see this year's Arrowverse crossover.

Something I realized is that I have never gone to the theatre more than once to see a movie. Of course, there have been movies I have loved so much that I thought about going back to seeing them again. But I never did. I usually wait for it to be released on DVD/Bluray then watch it again.
I was wondering if you've seen a movie more than once in the theatre?
I have a friend (who's a theater geek) who recently started reading comics and one of the first she started with was The Backstagers (which I recommend to her and now she's a total fan). And speaking of The Backstagers, they're back for a special Halloween book and Marvel Super Hero Adventures has one as well.
I have one more new book on my list: What If? Thor, that follows Thor being raised by the Frost Giants on Jotenheim. This seems really interesting, can't wait to read it.

Book:Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #32
Description:
In the aftermath of Shattered Grid, the New Power Rangers are losing their powers just as the face of their terrifying new enemy is revealed!
I love watching movies and TV shows and not only for the stories but for the home decor inspiration. I like to see how the set decorator and designer create a space for the characters. In Batman v Superman, viewers got a look at Lois Lane and Clark Kent's apartment which I thought had a very cozy and lived in look.
Although it's small, this one bedroom apartment has an open layout which makes the place appear larger than it is. You can tell that they maximized every bit of space in this apartment. I love that their living room and kitchen area is filled with so much stuff from a mini workshop near the kitchen to various artwork, framed pictures and knick-knacks displayed throughout their home. I'm surprised they even have two TVs (and there probably is another one in the bedroom) within such a small space but I guess as reporters they need to stay informed on the latest news.
Diana's life was in a rut. She hated her job, she was perpetually single, and she needed a place to live. But then the perfect apartment came along. It seemed too good to be true -- because it was.
The apartment was already inhabited -- by monsters. Vom the Hungering was the first to greet Diana and to warn her that his sole purpose in life was to eat everything in his path. This poses a problem for Diana since she's in his path...and is forbidden from ever leaving the apartment.
It turns out though that there are older and more ancient monstrous entities afoot -- ones who want to devour the moon and destroy the world as we know it. Can Diana, Vom, and the other horrors stop this from happening? Maybe if they can get Vom to stop eating everything...and everyone.
I had planned to post something about the Good Witch movies and TV series at some point but I never got around to doing that until now. For anyone who's not familiar with the Good Witch, it began as a seven movie series that ran from 2008-2014 that followed the mysterious Cassandra "Cassie" Nightingale (Catherine Bell) as she moved to Middleton. She restored Grey House the oldest (and at the time most run-down) house in the town, while she also opened her store Bell, Book & Candle. She was met with a bit of apprehension and misunderstandings from some of the townspeople but in the end she forged friendships and found love with the town's Chief of Police Jake Russell.
There was a lot that happened in those seven movies such as someone tried to claim Cassie's house, Cassie's cousin Abigail (Sarah Power) arrived in town stirring up trouble and Jake and Cassie got married and then had their daughter, Grace. A couple of years after the final movie, the Good Witch was turned into a TV series that followed Cassie who was now a widow with a teenage daughter.
The Good Witch is a magic/fantasy series but the magic is subtle with Cassie, Grace (Bailee Madison) and Abigail's powers centering around intuition or a sixth sense. They seem to have a knack for knowing exactly what someone needs at just the right time. And Cassie has a plant/nature approach to life which is why her and the town's new doctor Sam Radford (James Denton) initially clashed because he didn't believe in her alternative approach to medicine.
I can go on and on about the Good Witch but this post should be about tonight's Halloween movie. For anyone who is interested in watching the movie but has never seen any of the movies or any episodes from the TV series, you can still watch it because everything about this franchise is easy to follow.
And not to be forgotten the second episode of Charmed airs tonight at 9:00 PM on The CW. I'm trying to decide if I want to tape Charmed and watch Good Witch or vice-versa. Either way I'm watching one tonight and the other later.
Good Witch: Tale of Two Hearts 8:00 PM EST Hallmark
Starring: Catherine Bell, James Denton, Bailee Madison, Catherine Disher, Sarah Power, Rhys Mathew Bonds and more
Description:
As everyone in Middleton prepares for the bicentennial Halloween Harvest Festival’s competition with rival town Blairsville, a 100-carat ruby known as The Heart of Middleton is stolen from the museum. With the ruby missing, the town's romances start to suffer but Cassie suspects that the thief is a guest at her inn, Grey House.
The trailer makes Halloween seem like this is the ultimate ending for Laurie Strode and Michael Meyers. With both characters being iconic it will be interesting to see how everything will play out because will this be a real ending or is no one safe with Michael Meyers out there?
I just love watching horror movies, sometimes they're scary, funny or of bad quality but they're still really fun to watch. Okay, who's going to see Halloween this weekend? And if you let me know what you think of it.
Halloween
Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, Nick Castle, Haluk Bilginer and more
Director: David Gordon Green
Description:
Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
I'm sure by now all you Lois Lane fans have already seen the image released of Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane for The CW's upcoming Arrowverse crossover but if not here it is. I think she looks great and I love that she's wearing purple (a color that's often associated with Lois) which we can thank Elizabeth for because she insisted on wearing it. I know at some point, I will have to turn Lois' outfit into a Fashion Meets Comics post, just you wait and see.
Also in the picture is Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl and Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman. It looks like we will be getting scenes of the Superfamily in Smallville but I can't help hoping that Martha and Jonathan Kent will also appear. So far I haven't heard any news about that.
I love watching Teen Titans Go!, the show has so many amazingly random and wacky episodes such as when Robin was trying to teach the Titans about real estate. But one of my favorite episodes is "Books" and in that episode Raven gave each of the Titans a book to read as a way to alleviate their boredom.
Starfire read a book about pelicans, Robin read The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin, Cyborg read The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and Beast Boy read The Return of the Invisible Man. I was surprised that the writer included real book titles in this episode well all except for the book Beast Boy was reading. It's actually not a published book but the reworked title from the 1940s movie The Invisible Man Returns.
I love what's printed on this mug because it truly is a good day to read a good book (in fact everyday is). And I can't think of a better motivation to read than looking at this mug. I am not planning on buying another mug but I love finding book nerdy things like this and wanted to post it.
I love finding cozy mysteries to read and apparently this one has a ghost who helps with trying to solve the mystery. I've read a few books from Cleo Coyle's Coffee House Mystery series and I like those and this looks like it will be another fun read.
Book:The Ghost and Mrs. McClure (Haunted Bookshop Mystery book #1) by Alice Kimberly (Cleo Coyle)
Description:
Young widow Penelope Thornton-McClure and her old Aunt Sadie are making ends meet by managing a mystery book shop—a quaint Rhode Island landmark rumored to be haunted. Pen may not believe in ghosts, but she does believe in good publicity—like nabbing Timothy Brennan for a book signing. But soon after the bestselling thriller writer reveals a secret about the store’s link to a 1940s murder, he keels over dead—and right in the middle of the store’s new Community Events space.
Who gives Mrs. McClure the first clue that it was murder? The bookstore’s full-time ghost—a PI murdered on the very spot more than fifty years ago. Is he a figment of Pen’s overactive imagination? Or is the oddly likable fedora-wearing specter the only hope Pen has to solve the crime? You can bet your everlasting life on it...
Actress Kaya Scodelario wore this cool and casual outfit back in September 2014 to an event to promote The Maze Runner movie. This is so cute and you can't go wrong with a sweatshirt and jeans, they're timeless staples especially for fall.
Kaya looks cozy and chic in this outfit, that's perfect for after work or for a casual weekend, and I adored it so much I thought I would try to recreate it.
This is a really easy look to put together because it just a sweatshirt, jeans and boots yet those three simple pieces have been paired together to create a relaxed and very chic outfit.
I recreated this look with two sweatshirt options, the first features a big graphic image on it while the second has one small design. And while the jeans I picked were not distressed they still have the same look as the ones Kaya is wearing. Finally for the boots, I also went with two options, an opened toe heeled bootie and a closed toe wedge bootie (for days when it's too chilly).
Okay, who has the new Shuri series on their list? I love that superhero TV shows and movies have piqued non-comic book fans interest in characters which at times resulted in some of those characters getting their own comic series or miniseries.
Other than that, here is my list:
DC Comics
Book:Aquaman #41
Description:
From the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE, the road to 'Drowned Earth' starts here! Aquaman is missing-and the world has gone to hell! With Arthur imprisoned by Black Manta, Queen Mera is left to deal with the arrival of an alien armada aiming to punish the Earth for the sins of Atlantis. As the cosmic tides begin to rise, Mera finds herself in a fight for her very life when the flood unleashes new horrors of the deep!
After looking at The CW's behind the scenes picture of actor Tyler Hoechlin in the iconic black Superman suit, it made me realize that I have never read The Death of Superman nor The Return of Superman or any of the stories in between. Despite, never reading any of those stories, I do know that Superman wore the black suit in his return from "death".
So it's interesting to wonder what's going to happen during the Arrowverse crossover but I'm wondering if some alternate universe storyline will be about the return of Superman. Regardless, I'm actually excited to see what they will do and I can't wait to see Lois Lane now that she's finally going to be included in the Arrowverse.
Side Note: I'm still not a fan of the CW's design of the supersuit but it does look better in black than in blue and red.
I didn't see Ant-Man and the Wasp in the theatre, I wanted to but I was so busy that I really didn't find the time to go. So it will be surprising to watch it at home and see how Scott Lang fared after joining up with Team Captain America in Captain America: Civil War. It looks like Wasp has a bigger role in this one that will be interesting to see.
Ant-Man and the Wasp

As Scott Lang balances being both a Super Hero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.

Every comic con has plenty of guests but the ACE Comic Con in Chicago had Karen Gillan, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston (as well as a few more). I'm envious of all the fans who got the chance to take a picture or get an autograph with one or all four of these actors. Isn't this an awesome picture.
Side Note: Doesn't Tom Hiddleston remind you of that teacher or professor who loves teaching so much that they give you extra homework or they continue talking long after the class time has ended. I don't know, he just has that look to him.
I'm generally not a big fan of reboots but as a fan of the original Charmed TV series I am really interested in seeing this remake. And from looking at the trailer, it seems like the sisters in this new version will have similar powers (at least so far) as the Halliwell sisters. I'm not sure how I feel about the sister being guided by their whitelighter Harry so soon. What I like about the original series is that the sisters first had to figure things out as they went along before they found out about Leo being their whitelighter. Anyway, I'm totally excited about seeing this.
Charmed 9:00 PM The CW

Harry Greenwood reveals that the three are powerful witches, and he is their whitelighter, there to advise and guide them as they battle dark forces.
Similar to reading books, I love finding movies that have an interesting story. It doesn't matter what genre the movie is, if it interest me I'll watch it. As for this weekend picks I have the dark and dramatic Bad Times at the El Royale and the comedic scares of Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. They are two very different movies and both seem really interesting.
Bad Times at the El Royale

Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe's El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption - before everything goes to hell.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween
