It's a good thing the weekend's not over yet because there's a new movie premiering tonight, Don't Waste Your Pretty. It's based on the self-help book of the same title by Demetria L. Lucas. This seems like it's been an interesting romantic dramedy, I'm surprised it wasn't released on Valentine's Day. But romance isn't just one day out of the year, it's everyday so I'm looking forward to watching this movie.
Don't Waste Your Pretty 8:00 PM EST TV One
Starring: Keri Hilson, Jasmine Burke, Redaric Williams, Deborah Joy Winans, Kaye Singleton, Rico Ball, L. Warren Young and more
Director: Tamara Bass
Description:
Close-knit friends turn to one another when jobs, romance and family interactions complicate their lives.
I feel like there is never enough time to read books and watch shows and movies which is why I try to keep a list of ones I find interesting. Here are the most recent things I've added to my list.
Books I Want to Read
Book:Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron
Publication Date: March 2, 2021
Description:
A delightful romantic comedy featuring a Muslim woman who fakes an engagement to the boy next door in the hopes of winning a couples cooking contest.
When it comes to bread, Reena Manji knows exactly what she's doing. She treats her sourdough starters like (somewhat unruly) children. But when it comes to Reena's actual family—and their constant meddling in her life—well, that recipe always ends in disaster.
Now Reena's parents have found her yet another potential Good Muslim Husband. This one has the body of Captain America, a delicious British accent, and lives right across the hall. He's the perfect, mouthwatering temptation . . . and completely ruined by the unwelcome side dish of parental interference.
Reena refuses to marry anyone who works for her father. She won't be attracted to Nadim's sweet charm or gorgeous lopsided smile. That is, until the baking opportunity of a lifetime presents itself: a couples' cooking competition with the prize of her dreams. Reena will do anything to win—even asking Nadim to pretend they're engaged. But when it comes to love, baking your bread doesn't always mean you get to eat it too.
It's the weekend! How's everyone doing? Are you looking for something to watch. Well, I have some movies that you might find interesting. First is animation meets live action in Tom and Jerry: The Movie. Who doesn't love Tom and Jerry, these two cause so much trouble and looks like it'll continue in this movie. The other movie It Was Always You shows that finding love can be unexpected.
What films are you watching this weekend?
Tom and Jerry: The Movie (HBO Max and select theaters)

Director: Tim Story
Description:
A legendary rivalry reemerges when Jerry moves into New York City's finest hotel on the eve of the wedding of the century, forcing Kayla, the desperate event planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. There's an endless list of interesting books that I want to read. From Young Adult to Supernatural, here are five books I found that I really want to read. I can spend hours searching for books and I'm sure my fellow bookworms probably feel the same way.
Are there any books you've found and want to read?
Book:Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer
Description:
In New York Times bestselling author Marissa Meyer's young adult contemporary romance, a girl is suddenly gifted with the ability to cast instant karma on those around her – both good and bad.
Chronic overachiever Prudence Barnett is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Her dreams of karmic justice are fulfilled when, after a night out with her friends, she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on those around her.
Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to mean gossips, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner. Quint is annoyingly cute and impressively noble, especially when it comes to his work with the rescue center for local sea animals.
When Pru resigns herself to working at the rescue center for extra credit, she begins to uncover truths about baby otters, environmental upheaval, and romantic crossed signals―not necessarily in that order. Her newfound karmic insights reveal how thin the line is between virtue and vanity, generosity and greed . . . love and hate… and fate.
In Wonder Woman 1984, Diana Prince wore some amazing outfits such as this beautiful classic navy look. Diana may have worn this outfit to work at the museum but it goes perfectly from day to night when after work she went to dinner with her new friend Dr. Barbara Minerva.
I like this outfit, it's work-appropriate but comfy while still looking very chic. A navy blouse paired with navy pants is an easy look to pull off. Diana kept her outfit streamlined and let her animal print heels make a statement.
To recreate the outfit, I found a long sleeve navy top and paired it with a cute pair of ankle length navy pants. This combo is definitely a classic and like if you want to make a statement with your accessories like Diana pair it with a bold animal print shoe.
I was wondering why do so many bad writers get to stay on a comic book series? Especially if the books continue drop in sales. There's not a specific writer I'm thinking of, it was just something I was thinking about in general? I just noticed that it takes a while before a bad writer is gone from a book.
Anyway, what comics are you getting today? There's only one book on my list: Black Panther. I can't wait for DC Comics' Future State to be over, I really miss reading the main stories.
Marvel Comics
Book:Black Panther #23
Description:
THE INTERGALACTIC EMPIRE OF WAKANDA – “WAKANDA UNBOUND” part 5: THE POWER OF THE NAMELESS!
The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda turned their legendary king into a slave. Now the king is restored — and after years of effort, the gates of the Empire will swing wide open as the Black Panther makes one final attempt to free the ranks of the Nameless across the five galaxies.
I don't know how Mystery Inc. somehow keep getting themselves in some of the most zaniest mysteries. I really want to see The Sword and The Scoob, it seems like it's going to be a fun movie with the gang going back in time and hopefully saving the day.
Surprisingly, there are quite a few Scooby movies that have the gang dealing with real supernatural things instead of unmasking villains wearing masks. Whether they're facing something real or dealing with fake villains, I love watching Scooby-Doo movies.
Okay my fellow Scooby fans, who else picking this up today or ordering it online?
Scooby-Doo! The Sword and The Scoob
Description:
Take a journey back in time to King Arthur’s court in this legendary saga of wizards, knights, dragons…and Scooby-Doo! An evil sorceress tries to seize power in Camelot, so King Arthur needs the help of our favorite super sleuths to save his throne. But will their valiant efforts only make things royally worse? This original movie serves up laughter on a platter, and Scooby and Shaggy are ready to dig in!
There's a rumor going around that Sharon Carter will be either Sam Wilson or Bucky Barnes' love interest in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier TV Series. It should be noted that this has not been confirmed by Disney and I hope this is nothing more than a terrible rumor because Sharon deserves more than being a love interest to one of Steve Rogers best friends. Plus, that would be so weird especially since the last time all three saw each other was when Sharon and Steve kissed in a parking lot.
I feel like the MCU ruined so many comic book canon relationships and the writers went out of their way to pair characters up randomly for instance Natasha Romanov with Bruce Banner instead of Nat being with Bucky. Steve ending up with Peggy Carter instead of with Sharon.
From watching various trailers, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier doesn't seem like a show that needs a romance. I see a lot of fans saying that the MCU has yet to have a LGBTQ relationship with main characters and feel like Sam and Bucky could be that couple. As much as I think that would be so cool and awesome, I highly doubt Marvel is going to let that happen. So odds are there is no romance in this show and if it is, hopefully it's Sharon getting a love interest that's not Sam or Bucky. Since the MCU ruined her relationship with Steve, she deserves a romance that's not a reminder of her former love.
Looking for food, romance and travel, then this weekend's film Mix Up in the Mediterranean has everything you're looking for. I'm sure this is going to include plenty of mishaps and misunderstanding before it leads to love for Josh and Meg. This looks it's going to be a really cute and romantic movie.
Mix Up in the Mediterranean 9:00 PM EST Hallmark Channel
Starring: Jeremy Jordan, Jessica Lowndes, Callum Blue, Michelle Martin, Edward De Gaetano and more
Director: Jonathan Wright
Description:
Josh, a small-town cook impersonates his big city chef twin brother Julian to compete in a culinary contest and falls for Meg, the woman in charge of the event, who thinks he is the brother who is married.
In The Little Mermaid, Ariel has a huge collection of human "treasure" which is mostly junk such as forks, glasses, statues and other random stuff that's either fallen off ships or found on sunken ships. I'm happy to say that among her treasure are books which Ariel and Flounder had fun looking at. I'm not sure if either could read human languages but you could tell they enjoyed looking at the book nonetheless.
The trailer for Mortal Kombat is pretty awesome. I think this is going to be an interesting and intense movie and I can't wait to see it. I really was not expecting anything shown in this trailer, this is crazy. Mortal Kombat will be available April 16th on HBO Max and in select theaters. I really can't wait to see it.
Mortal Kombat
Description:
MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) is unaware of his heritage - or why Outworld’s Emperor seeks to hunt him down. Cole finds sanctuary under Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe. Will Cole be able to unleash his arcana in time to stop the Outworld once and for all?
Whatever good I have accomplished as an actress, I believe came in direct proportion to my efforts to portray Black women who have made positive contributions to my heritage.
When the promo images and trailers for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier were released something I didn't expect to see was some fans being upset about Bucky Barnes' short hair. I was surprised they were complaining about it on social media and various other medium. I don't know why it's a really great cut.
I was wondering how many of my fellow comic book fans are caught up on reading their comics or are you perhaps constantly behind? I must confess that I am part of the latter. I'm not sure how I got so behind. I went from reading all of my comics as soon as I got them every Wednesday to only reading maybe one or two books then trying to find time for the others. Which I never seem to find but that's just what I'm going to have to do. I'm just going to have to get caught up because I have books and stories on my bookcase and shelves that I'm missing out on. And I really want to read them.
Anyway, what books are you getting today? Surprisingly, I have quite a few books on my list. They're all my regular but it's a good group of books which includes: Scooby-Doo, Iron Man and Miles Morales. With it being such an unusual winter, make sure to stay safe and warm.
DC Comics
Book:Batman/Catwoman #3
Description:
It’s been The Joker all along, you see.
Selina Kyle knows this. Early in her career as Catwoman, he was there to mess things up for her. Same with later, when she and Batman were finally getting together...for the third time, but still. That time stuck. No thanks to The Joker. Or to Phantasm, who now has her sights set on Catwoman because she thinks that will be her in to get after The Joker herself. And she has to do it before Batman gets to him first.
It's been three years since the Black Panther movie was released in theatres February 16, 2018. It's still one of my favorite movies. And on this anniversary, I want to not only celebrate the groundbreaking movie but the late actor Chadwick Boseman for his unbelievable performance as King T'Challa.
I may not have enough time today to rewatch Black Panther but I plan to watch it sometime this week. Happy Anniversary, Black Panther!
I've been looking for some different cozy mystery books to read and I found A Flower Shop Mystery series. Mum's the Word follows a flower shop owner solving mysteries, seems interesting. You know what I love about cozy mystery series is that they usually center around a theme such as flowers in this case and the story hopefully includes a good mystery to try to solve.
Book:Mum's the Word (Flower Shop Mysteries book #1) by Kate Collins
Description:
Abby Knight is the proud owner of her hometown flower shop, but a new low-cost competitor is killing her profits-and a black SUV just rammed her vintage Corvette in a hit-and-run. She's determined to track down the driver, but when the trail turns deadly, the next flower arrangement might be for her own funeral.
Today we celebrate our friends and how they have shaped our lives from the good times to the bad. This is the perfect day to celebrate our friends and show them how much they mean us. Happy Galantine's Day! How are you going to celebrate the day?
Below is a list of movies that celebrate the awesomeness of friendship.
Romance is in the air this weekend and there are two movies you might want to check out: To All the Boys: Always and Forever and Playing Cupid.
Always and Forever is the third and final movie in the To All The Boys series. It's the end of Lara Jean's story and since I haven't read the third book written by Jenny Han, I have no idea how this will end. I just love the To All the Boys movies, they're so cute and romantic. I really need to finish reading the book series, I've read the first one and at some point I have to get caught up.
As for the second movie Playing Cupid, it's inspired by the classic novel Emma by Jane Austen. In the book, Emma seemed to believe she knew what was best for everyone which of course she didn't, I do wonder if that will factor into this story as well.
To All the Boys: Always and Forever (Netflix)
Starring: Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, Ross Butler, Madeleine Arthur, Emilija Baranac, Trezzo Mahoro, John Corbett and more
Director: Michael Fimognari
Description:
As Lara Jean Covey prepares for the end of high school and the start of adulthood, a pair of life-changing trips lead her to reimagine what life with her family, friends, and Peter will look like after graduation.
I found this chase scene from Captain America: Civil War to be memorable because it's so unintentionally funny. From Bucky Barnes, Black Panther and Captain America running at top speed through a tunnel full of moving cars to Cap carjacking a police car with Black Panther catching a ride. Cap running into police cars trying to get rid of his unexpected passenger.
All of this in order to try to catch up with Bucky who is running for his life that is until he stole a motorcycle. And not to mention Falcon trying to get rid of Black Panther, coupled with an explosion, Cap running from yet another car rolling over then tackling the Black Panther which culminated into an awkward arrest for all four.
This entire chase scene is just so ridiculous but in a good and funny way. I really never get tired of seeing it. I know this wasn't meant to be funny but I couldn't help laughing at all the ridiculous things they were all doing.
I hope everyone is having a good day. I just wanted to share with you some books, shows and movies I have On My List.
Books I Want to Read:

Yeah, I'm posting my list a little late but it's still Comic Book Wednesday. And I want to know what books you're getting or have already got today. Surprisingly, I have four books on my list which includes a Valentine's Day book: DC Love Is A Battlefield. The Archie & Friends: Guide to Dating may not be a holiday book but it does focus on romance. And odds are with these characters, there are no really good dating advice you can gain from them.
Well, here's my list, let know what books you're getting.
Archie Comics
Book:Archie & Friends: Guide to Dating #1
Description:
Want to learn how to successfully date from the best? Well, maybe successful isn’t the best word… but if you want to learn both the “Do’s” AND “Don’ts” of dating, then you’ve just struck gold!
The more I see of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier the more excited I am to see it. This new trailer is so fantastic. I can't get over Sam and Bucky going to as fans have called it "couples therapy", because these two certainly bicker enough like an old married couple. Hopefully the therapy will work out for them and they can sort out whatever issues they're having. This might be an unpopular opinion but I think Sam and Bucky have better chemistry than Steve and Bucky. And I like that ever since Captain America: Civil War, Sam and Bucky became a fan favorite duo which I'm sure factored into them getting this TV series.
Something I'm so happy to see in this trailer is Sharon Carter. I'm still annoyed by how Sharon was treated in the MCU, she should have been in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. And she also should have still been Steve Rogers' love interest, it made no sense to write Steve back to being fixated on Peggy Carter. He was over her and he should have been moving forward with his life and not looking backwards. Anyway, I'm so happy that Sharon was shown in the trailer and totally kicking butt.
It's Janet Jackson Appreciation Day! I want to know what are your favorite songs or videos of the legendary singer? There are so many of her songs that I love and this list would have been even longer if I had posted them all.
I know Super Bowl Sunday is seen as the ultimate sporting event/holiday but I have absolutely no interest in watching the game. In the past, I would go to Super Bowl parties mainly to hang out with my friends. But then I realized aside from being with my friends the game was so boring. Ever since then, I would either hang out with like minded non-football friends and I do something fun with them or spend the day by myself doing whatever I wanted.
So, for my fellow non-football fans, I decided to create a geeky football list of shows to watch. I may not like football but I can enjoy it when it's on a show. Whether you watch any of the shows on my list or watch something else, don't forget the snacks.
Batman: The Animated Series
Season 1 Episode 19:Fear of Victory
Description:
While investigating a mysterious series of athlete panic attacks during games, Robin is exposed to the fear toxin of The Scarecrow.
Happy Saturday! Are you looking for something to watch today. Well, I have two very different yet interesting movies on my list: Malcolm & Marie and Beverly Hills Wedding. Malcolm & Marie is a romantic drama that takes a look into a couple's relationship. I do wonder if Malcolm sees Marie as nothing more than arm candy instead of as a person? It will interesting to see how this story will unfolds.
As for Beverly Hills Wedding, it's looks like a fun movie with I'm sure will be an over the top wedding. Brooke D'Orsay and Brendan Penny have both starred in their fair share of Hallmark movies and I believe this is their first one together (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
Malcolm & Marie (Netflix)
Starring: Zendaya and John David Washington
Director: Sam Levinson
Description:
A director and his girlfriend's relationship is tested after they return home from his movie premiere and await critics' responses.
It's Friday! What would you like to talk about for Fandom Friday? I answered a few questions that have been going through my mind lately. Feel free to include your answers or ask any Fandom questions you might have.
What new shows have you been watching?
A new show that I've been watching and really enjoying is Call Me Kat. It's stars Mayim Bialik as Kat, a single 39 year old woman, who opened a cat café. So besides Kat trying to make her café a success, she's dealing with her mother Shelia's (Swoosie Kurtz) constant disapproval about her life. And in between that, Kat's hanging out with her friends/co-workers Phil (Leslie Jordan), the head baker at the café and Randi (Kyla Pratt), a waitress at the café and getting reacquainted with an old college friend/love interest Max (Cheyenne Jackson). This show is so quirky and funny and I hope it'll get picked up for a full season and renewed for a second one. If you haven't watched the show and want to, Call Me Kat airs Thursdays at 9:00 PM EST on FOX.
This Comic Book Wednesday post may be a little late but I do have a new book on my list: Specter Inspectors. It looks really interesting as it follows a group of ghost hunters trying to find proof that they exist. The other book on my list is Star Wars Adventures which has a story about Wookies celebrating Life Day.
Well, that's it for me, what books did you pick up today?
Boom! Studios
