Most Memorable Scene: 9-1-1 Emergency of a Woman Found Dead in Her Pool

I thought I would post another Most Memorable Scene from 9-1-1. This scene is from the fourth season fourth episode 9-1-1, What's Your Grievance?. I just love this scene because while Police Sergeant Athena Grant, Detective Rick Romero and 118 firefighters were on the scene of a murder, Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley were bouncing theories off of each other. And in the process truly annoying Athena.

This is one of my favorite scenes because although these two had some good theories they were just so annoying. And watching these two made me realize that I would love to see Buck and Eddie doing a true crime podcast. I think it would be both hilarious and entertaining as they debate the clues. I could see them going over solved and unsolved cases to put their two cent in about what happened or might have happened. Hey, they might even end up solving a few cases along the way.

Some of my favorite quotes:

Buck: The locked room mystery.

Eddie: The locked YARD mystery.

Buck: Ooh!

Athena: Are we making a true crime podcast?

Athena: Okay, Cagney and Lacey. I think your work here is done.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility!

Today is Trans Day of Visibility, it where we celebrate and support trans and nonbinary people, communities and organizations. People should be able to be who they are without fear, shame or violence. I believe in equality for everyone and that everyone should be free to live their true life.

Happy Trans Visibility Day Everyone!

Fashion Meets Star Style: Greta Onieogou's Jumpsuit and Sandals

Looking for a little style inspiration, actress Greta Onieogou wore this really cute denim Good American jumpsuit and Vince Camuto platform sandals when she appeared on the talk show The Real. I really like this outfit, it's laid-back yet stylish and polished. This jumpsuit and platform sandals also give off a retro vibe but it still feels very cool and modern.

To get her look, I found the jumpsuit and sandals which are a little pricey. However, if this is not in your budget, there are similar styles you can find at a more affordable price.

Trailer for tonight's episode Kung Fu: Clementine

Okay, tonight's episode of Kung Fu looks like it's going to be fun with Nicky Shen trying to track down her older sister Althea's car after it was stolen. I know I probably say this a lot about this show but it is really good. The original Kung Fu series has been reinvented and turned it into an amazing show that follows a young woman who is grappling with the uncertainty of her own future while becoming an unexpected hero. This show really is the best.

Kung Fu season 2 episode 4: Clementine                                       9:00 PM EST                                                        The CW

Description:

After finding himself in a bind, Dennis turns to Nicky for help, leading them to uncover an auto theft ring. When an argument about family causes Henry and Nicky to have their first real fight, Henry reluctantly reconnects with his estranged father.

Trailer: Close Enough Season 3

Who said being an adult was easy? Well, at least the Close Enough animated series makes it look fun. These characters are so dysfunctional but you can't help loving them. I absolutely loved watching the first two seasons, this show is so crazy, weird and funny. The third season premieres on Thursday, April 7th on HBO Max and I'm really excited to see it, I just love this show.

Close Enough (HBO Max)

Starring: J.G. Quintel, Gabrielle Walsh, Jason Mantzoukas, Kimiko Glenn, Jessica DiCicco, James Adomian, Danielle Brooks and more

General Description:

From HBO Max and JG Quintel, comes Close Enough, a surreal animated comedy about a married couple, their five-year-old daughter, and their two divorced best friends/roommates all sharing a cramped apartment on the east side of Los Angeles. Their life may not be ideal but for now, it's close enough.

Nesting: Sailor Moon Luna Mug

I love watching Sailor Moon and I always found it interesting that Luna the cat tries her best to help Serena without losing her patience with her young charge. But Serena is so loony and lazy that Luna really has her work cut out for her in trying to guide her.

As soon as I saw this Luna mug, I wanted it. But I know I don't need another mug but I haven't bought one in a while. And by a while, it's been over a year. I keep finding really cute mugs but I haven't bought any of them. Which is why I wouldn't mind getting this one. I think it would be fun to drink my tea out of it. But I don't know.

What do you think, is this Luna mug a good find or something not worth getting?

Trailers for tonight's episodes of 9-1-1: Boston and 9-1-1: Lone Star: Negative Space (+ a Mini 9-1-1 Review)

It's 9-1-1 Mondays and after last week's episode of 9-1-1, I have mixed feelings about how the second half of the fifth season is going. Because I loved Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz's storyline (it was the best part of the episode) his mental state was progressively getting worse as the episode went along. And it doesn't help that his current job as an LAFD Liaison is nothing more than being a paid Twitter user. For someone who is used to having an active job then going to a sedentary one where he sits around tweeting out information must truly feel like the ultimate mind numbing dead-end job. And add that to the insomnia and isolation and depression and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Eddie's emotions are all over the place and he is in need of professional help.

Monday Motivation: A Quick Shoulder and Back Workout

I don't always like to workout but there is a quick shoulder and back workout that I like to do. It's the Resistance Band Pull-Apart. I do this move using a light band twice a week doing three sets of 15 reps. I make sure to rest for about a minute in between each set. As it becomes easier to do this move, I'll switch from the light to medium band to make it more challenging.

To do the move:

1. Hold the band in front of you at arm's length. Then pull your arms apart to form a straight line.
2. Hold for one count. Then return the band back at arm's length.

Below is a illustration showing how to do this simple yet effective move. (As always please consult with a doctor before starting any type of exercise.)

On My List: March 28th

Happy Monday!

It's the start of a beautiful new week and I was wondering what's on your list? What books, shows and movies have you found or caught your interest?

I'm going to start posting On My List more often because there are just so many things that interest me. Well, here's my list:

Books I Want to Read

I have three very different books on my list. First is about finding yourself and loving who you are. The second is centers around a cooking competition where the contestants may find love and the third is a fantasy set in the world of magic. All three books seem very interesting.

Book: 30 Things I Love About Myself by Radhika Sanghani

Description:

When Nina Mistry's life hits rock bottom, she decides to change her stars by falling in love...with herself—a hilarious, heartfelt story from outrageously funny novelist Radhika Sanghani.

Nina didn't plan to spend her thirtieth birthday in jail, yet here she is in her pajamas, locked in a holding cell. There's no Wi-Fi, no wine, no carbs—and no one to celebrate with.

Unfortunately, it gives Nina plenty of time to reflect on how screwed up her life is. She's just broken up with her fiancé, and now has to move back into her childhood home to live with her depressed older brother and their uptight, traditional Indian mother. Her career as a freelance journalist isn’t going in the direction she wants, and all her friends are too busy being successful to hang out with her.

Just as Nina falls into despair, a book lands in her cell: How to Fix Your Shitty Life by Loving Yourself. It must be destiny. With literally nothing left to lose, Nina makes a life-changing decision to embark on a self-love journey. By her next birthday, she's going to find thirty things she loves about herself.

Trailer: Our Flag Means Death

I love finding new shows and one I've been hearing non-stop good things about is the comedy Our Flag Means Death. I believe there's only 10 episodes for the first season and if the reception for the show has been being so positive maybe it'll be renewed for a second season. Anyway, the trailer definitely looks funny and if the show is as funny as it is then I can't wait to see it.

Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max)

Starring: Rhys Darby, Joel Fry, Samson Kayo, Nathan Foad, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Samba Schutte, Ewen Bremner, Con O'Neill, Vico Ortiz, Taika Waititi and more

Description:

Stede Bonnet, a pampered aristocrat, abandons his life of privilege to become a pirate in the early 18th century.

Quote: Alexis and Moira Rose

~ Alexis and Moira Rose, Schitt's Creek season 3 episode 2: The Throuple

I'm not a big fan of award shows but I figured in honor of the Academy Awards or the Oscars airing tonight, this would be the perfect quote.

What are you reading this weekend?

It's the weekend and I was wondering what’s everyone been reading lately? I'm reading Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived by Paul S. Kemp and so far I'm really enjoying it. Every time I read one of these pre-Disney Star Wars books it always reminds me that these stories are no longer canon. Because these stories are an interesting look into the world of Star Wars. So, it's still a little disappointing that they aren't canon anymore.

Anyway, what are you reading over the weekend?

Book: The Old Republic: Deceived (The Old Republic book #2) by Paul S. Kemp

Description:

A Sith warrior to rival the most sinister of the Order’s Dark Lords, Darth Malgus brought down the Jedi Temple on Coruscant in a brutal assault that shocked the galaxy. But if war crowned him the darkest of Sith heroes, peace will transform him into something far more heinous—something Malgus would never want to be but cannot stop becoming, any more than he can stop the rogue Jedi fast approaching. Her name is Aryn Leneer—and the lone Jedi Knight that Malgus cut down in the fierce battle for the Jedi Temple was her Master. Now she’s going to find out what happened to him, even if it means breaking every rule in the book.

Weekend Films: A Second Chance at Love, Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Lost City

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!

What new movies are you watching this weekend? If you're not sure, here are three that might interest you. First, is the Hallmark movie A Second Chance at Love which has a divorced couple possible getting as the title states a second chance at love. Second, is Everything Everywhere All at Once and it looks like a multiverse of really fun and interesting madness. Third is The Lost City that follows a writer in a harrowing adventure.

Let's see there's romance, sci-fi and comedy and action adventure. I think all three movies look good, I really want to see them.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #20: Lydia Martin and Jordan Parrish, Bonnie Bennett, Buck, Eddie and Lucy

Happy Friday! It's been an interesting week, which is why I'd love to know what are some of your fandom thoughts?

- I'm actually starting to get excited about the upcoming Teen Wolf movie. It's going to air on Paramount+ and at the moment there is not official premiere date. I'm really hoping it will have a good script and a bigger budget to really make this a good movie. I also hope that Lydia Martin and Jordan Parrish will finally get a chance to be together because I thought they had so much chemistry in the show. It will be interesting to see what these characters have been up to since the series ended. I'm hoping Lydia wouldn't still be with her high school boyfriend Stiles Stilinski because once they got together in the finale season they didn't really have any romantic chemistry together. I always thought they were better as friends. I guess I'll see, once the movie airs.

Book of Interest: The House at the Edge of Magic

I love sharing the interesting books that I find and The House at the Edge of Magic by Amy Sparkes seems like a fun and inventive story. A pickpocket finds a magical home and will need her help to break a magical spell. I'm sure Nine will be able to do it but I bet there will be a few obstacles in her way throughout the story.

Book: The House at the Edge of Magic (The House at the Edge of Magic book #1) by Amy Sparkes

Description:

"Sometimes you are a whisper away from magic without even realizing it."

Nine is an orphan pickpocket determined to escape her life in the Nest of a Thousand Treasures. Inside she finds a host of magical and brilliantly funny characters, including Flabberghast – a young wizard who’s particularly competitive at hopscotch – and a hideous troll housekeeper who’s emotionally attached to his feather duster. They have been placed under an extraordinary spell, which they are desperate for Nine to break – and if she can, maybe they can offer her a new life in return…

Geek on a Budget: How to Avoid Binge Shopping

Despite the economy, many people (including myself) still treat stress and anxiety with a little shopping. Unfortunately, trying to make ourselves feel better by buying something new doesn't address the underlying emotions that we're experiencing. There's nothing wrong with occasionally buying ourselves a little something from time to time. However, if over shopping or binge shopping becomes a constant thing, it can create even more stress and not just on our budget. Here are three tips that may help avoid too many shopping sprees:

I'm so happy that Kung Fu was renewed for another season, this is a really good show. And tonight's episode looks like Nicky is trying figure out her next move against Russell while trying to figure out how Kerwin is back. I will be tuning in tonight, I can't wait.

Kung Fu season 2 episode 3: The Bell                                       9:00 PM EST                                                        The CW

Book of Interest: Book Lovers

Good Morning!

Here's a bookish romance that seems like an interesting read, Book Lovers by Emily Henry. Nora's life seems to revolve around books and I guess it makes sense that her love life does as well. A vacation filled with books and romance, what more could you ask for. I really can't wait to read this.

Book: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Publication Date: May 3, 2022

Description:

One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

What are some of your favorite shows at the moment?

I need some new (or new to me) shows to watch and I was wondering what are some of your favorite ones you're watching at the moment? Please leave me all your suggestions in the comments.

Book of Interest: Happily Ever Afters

Good Morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything fun? Did you find any new books? Well, one that I'm thinking of getting is Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant. The description for this just seems so cute and interesting. A writer who's lost her muse to write but just might find it with an interesting idea from her friend. And not to mention finding love from two potential love interest.

Like, how cute is this and the cover? I really want to read it.

Book: Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant

Description:

Jane the Virgin meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in this charming debut romantic comedy filled with Black Girl Magic. Perfect for fans of Mary H. K. Choi and Nicola Yoon, with crossover appeal for readers of Jasmine Guillory and Talia Hibbert romances.

Sixteen-year-old Tessa Johnson has never felt like the protagonist in her own life. She’s rarely seen herself reflected in the pages of the romance novels she loves. The only place she’s a true leading lady is in her own writing—in the swoony love stories she shares only with Caroline, her best friend and #1 devoted reader.

Nico, the brooding artist who looks like he walked out of one of Tessa’s stories, is cast as the perfect Prince Charming.

Why is 9-1-1 Queerbaiting Viewers?

It appears one of the co-showrunners for 9-1-1, Kristen Reidel has pretty much admitted in a roundabout way in a TV Guide interview that the show has been queerbaiting the fan favorite characters Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley. With her comment, "I'm not gonna tell people that they're watching the show wrong because people see what they see", Reidel makes it seem as if viewers and fans have somehow misinterpreted what has been written, acted and directed for the characters and their relationship. This makes me think that if so many viewers have interpreted something that you have written a different way than you intended then I think the problem might be how you as the writer have misinterpreted your own writing.

Can You Spot the Difference: 9-1-1

Okay, who remembers doing these Can You Spot the Difference picture games? I used to love doing these games a kid. It was fun to see if I could find everything that missing or added on. With that said, let see if we can spot the difference between these two 9-1-1 pictures. I'll put my answer in the comments.

Trailer: DMZ Miniseries

The new miniseries, DMZ which premiered today on HBO Max is based on the DMZ comic book series that's written by Brian Wood with illustrations by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli. This looks like an intense drama that has a mother looking for her son who is lost somewhere in the middle of a war. I've never read the comic book series but the trailer for the show seems interesting. I believe there are only four episodes in this miniseries and I'm interested in seeing how the story goes and to see if she actually finds her son. DMZ

DMZ

Starring: Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, Hoon Lee, Venus Ariel, Jordan Preston Carter, Reynaldo Gallegos, Juani Feliz and more

Description:

DMZ leaps off the pages of the acclaimed DC graphic novel into the visual landscape of a dangerous and distorted Manhattan as one woman navigates a demilitarized zone in a harrowing quest to find her lost son.

Video: First Look of the second half of fifth season of 9-1-1

With 9-1-1 returning on Monday for the second half of the fifth season, a new promo video has been released. From the previous trailers (1 and 2), I already knew Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz was going to be dealing with a lot and it looks like he might be hitting rock bottom. I see the boxes in Evan "Buck" Buckley's apartment and I'm hoping he's planning to move in with Eddie to help him out in taking care of Christopher so that Eddie doesn't have to deal with everything alone.

I really hope Maddie Buckley and Howard "Chimney" Han can fix their relationship especially since they have been going through a lot. However, maybe Maddie has to work on herself first before her and Chim can even think of repairing their strained relationship. Speaking of relationships, it looks like Athena Grant and her husband Robert "Bobby" Nash look happy and the same goes for Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and her wife Karen. That's something nice to look forward to.

Despite being very disappointed with the first half of the fifth season, I'm actually looking forward to watching this upcoming second half. Hopefully, the writing will be so much better this time.

Entertainment News #7: 9-1-1 Mini Crossover, Kyle Gallner and Paul Wesley

- Angela Bassett's 9-1-1 character Police Sergeant Athena Grant will be appearing on the upcoming Monday's episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star titled Prince Albert in a Can. The episode will center around an investigation where a 911 SWATing prank turns deadly. According to Lone Star's showrunner Tim Minear, "They are trying to figure out where the SWAT-ing call came from, and they trace it to Los Angeles". I kinda wish this hadn't been reported so that her appearance would be a surprise.

Book of Interest: Just Right Jillian

I can remember being shy in school, at times it felt like it was difficult to speak. I think public speaking was probably my least favorite class as well as having to do presentations in various classes. However, I have to say that despite hating those classes and assignments I learned something about myself from having to do them. They challenged me. I'm also glad I was able to move pass being really shy because it made me feel like I didn't have a voice or that I was too afraid to use it. There are instances now that I will feel a little shy especially in new experiences but with that I take a deep breath, feel confident in myself and then move forward.

Which is why I want to read Just Right Jillian by Nicole D. Collier to see how Jillian will deal with her shyness and be able to speak up. I think we can learn a lot about ourselves when we challenge ourselves to change.

Book: Just Right Jillian by Nicole D. Collier

Description:

In this heartfelt middle grade novel from debut author Nicole D. Collier, fifth grader Jillian must learn to speak and break free of her shell to enter her school's academic competition and keep her promise to her grandmother.

Fifth grader Jillian will do just about anything to blend in, including staying quiet even when she has the right answer. After she loses a classroom competition because she won't speak up, she sets her mind on winning her school's biggest competition. But breaking out of her shell is easier said than done, and Jillian has only a month to keep her promise to her grandmother and prove to herself that she can speak up and show everyone her true self.

A warm and relatable middle grade debut novel about family, friendship, and finding the confidence to break free from the crowd and be who you truly are.

Trailer for tonight's episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star: Parental Guidance

Last Monday's 9-1-1: Lone Star episode The Bird was so good with Paul Strickland dealing with a serious health problem and how it will affect both his life and his job. According to the description for tonight's episode, it looks like Paul is still dealing with it. I wonder how sad and depressed he may be and if he will be able to see the surgery as a second chance at life. I know Paul said he would rather die than have that surgery which he ended up having to get after he nearly died. He was so upset and he took it out on his best friend Marjan Marwani because he probably felt that she could have done something to prevent him getting the surgery. However, I highly doubt she could have stopped it especially since he didn't have anything in writing to prevent it. It will be interesting to see how this will affect their friendship going forward.

Also for tonight's episode Parental Guidance, it's good to see Mateo Chavez getting an interesting storyline where he's concerned about his temporary yet former Captain. I am interested in knowing what promotion he's being offered. Total side note, the description for the last Monday's episode stated that Tommy Vega was going on a date which was never shown. Either that part of the description was mistakenly added on because it's for another episode or the scenes were cut and possibly will be added on to a later episode. Who knows but I had been looking forward to seeing it, although, I don't think Tommy is ready for a new love especially since she's still grieving her husband.

Anyway, I can't wait to see tonight's episode. It looks like another good one.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 episode 10: Parental Guidance                                 8:00 PM EST                                                 FOX

Description:

A medieval-themed restaurant suffers a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. The crew worries that Paul still has not mentally recovered from his surgery and Mateo is offered a promotion by his old fire captain.

Book of Interest: The Creepy Case Files of Margo Maloo: The Monster Mall

It's been quite a while since I read the first volume of The Creepy Case Files of Margo Maloo comic book series by Drew Weing. I really like this series, Margo Maloo is a monster mediator and she tries to solve and fix supernatural problems. She also tries to help her new assistant Charles who for some reason monsters don't really like. It will be interesting to see what'll happen in this second volume where it seems like teens have become the problems for monsters.

Book: The Creepy Case Files of Margo Maloo volume #2: The Monster Mall by Drew Weing

Description:

In this second volume of The Creepy Case Files of Margo Maloo, graphic novelist Drew Weing delivers a fresh and funny take on the age-old battle between kids and closet-dwelling monsters.

Charles meets a lot of monsters in his line of work. While assisting Margo Maloo on her assignments, he’s had close encounters with trolls, ghosts, imps, and ogres. And lately, they’re all saying the same thing: living in Echo City is getting harder.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #19

Happy Friday! It's been an interesting week, which is why I'd love to know what are some of your fandom thoughts?

- One of my pet peeves is when comic book superhero/villain characters have on random regular clothes over their costumes. I don't know, it's just something that annoys me. It ruins the look of the costume and it looks weird.

Trailers for tonight's episode of Kung Fu and Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries

There are so many amazing shows, how does anyone have the time to watch them all? I'm so excited for tonight's premiere of the second season of Kung Fu. This show needs more attention because it's so good as well as the trailer for tonight's episode. Another show I can't wait to see is Obi-Wan Kenobi, it will be out in May which isn't too far out. Even before the release of the trailer, it was already one of my most anticipated shows. It goes without saying that the trailer looks good.

Kung Fu season 2 episode 1: Year of the Tiger Part 1                                 9:00 PM EST                                                 The CW

Step Up's Eddy and Sean, Were They a Missed Opportunity for Romance

I know a lot of Step Up movie fans have complained over the years that there were no gay, queer, lesbian, trans, etc. characters or romance in the franchise. Which is true. But I couldn't help wondering if Eddy and Sean Asa from Step Up 4: Revolution and Step Up 5: All In would have been the perfect choice. I always wondered if Eddy was bisexual and in love with his best friend Sean? Although, it was shown that Eddy was attracted to women (he certainly liked The Mob's DJ, Penelope) but it's hard to overlook that he may have been in love with Sean. Because in Step Up 4, Eddy's jealous reaction to Sean liking Emily Anderson and wanting her to join The Mob was way too intense.

Inventing Chloe (Saturday Night Live)

I haven't watched the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna but I have seen the trailer. And this Saturday Night Live parody Inventing Chloe was so funny. I thought Chloe Fineman and all the other actors (including Oscar Isaac) did a good job with this skit.

Happy International Women's Day!

I want to say thank you to all the women (which includes trans women) who fought for us to get this far, thank you to all the women who are fighting for us right now for the future generations. I think it's important to recognize the accomplishments of all the women who came before us and the women currently marching ahead accomplishing things every day. I want to lift up all the women in the world who never stop fighting for a better world.

On International Women's Day, I also want to celebrate ordinary women doing extraordinary and non-extraordinary things that tend to go largely unnoticed be it working hard and struggling just to survive to managing your life day-to-day. The world may not notice all that you do just to make it but know that you are appreciated.

With that said Happy International Women's Day to all the incredible women in the world.

Trailer for tonight's episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star: The Bird

Happy 9-1-1 Mondays!

Okay, 9-1-1: Lone Star fans who else has been enjoying the third season? So far, I think this season has been really good. And last week's episode In The Unlikely Event Of An Emergency was sad but really good. I liked Gwyn, I thought she was a good addition to the show during the second season as a reoccurring character. It was sad knowing that she died but I think the flashback scenes really showed how much she loved and cared about her oldest son T.K. and trying to help him get sober at a rehab facility.

I'm really looking forward to seeing tonight's episode and finding out about Paul Strickland's health problem and how it will affect his life and will he be able to continue being a firefighter especially since the job that's very strenuous and dangerous. I also want to know who Tommy Vega has a date with and how Owen got a bird. Did he find it or was he charged with taking care of it? This episode seems like it's going to be really interesting.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 episode 9: The Bird                                 8:00 PM EST                                                 FOX

Description:

The members of the 126 spring into action when a surprise military homecoming erupts into chaos. Owen is left responsible for taking care of a talkative pet. Paul faces a medical emergency and Tommy goes on her first date since her husband Charles died.

Book of Interest: Aunty Lee's Delights

Good morning! I found this mystery book, Aunty Lee's Delights by Ovidia Yu that seems rather interesting. So in between running a restaurant, Rosie Lee is out there trying to solve a mystery against Raja, a rookie Police Commissioner. It'll be interesting to see who will be better at solving the murder, the amateur detective or the rookie police.

Book: Aunty Lee's Delights (A Singaporean Mystery book #1) by Ovidia Yu

Description:

This delectable and witty mystery introduces Rosie “Aunty” Lee, feisty widow, amateur sleuth and proprietor of Singapore’s best-loved home cooking restaurant.

After losing her husband, Rosie Lee could easily have become one of Singapore’s “tai tai,” an idle rich lady devoted to an aimless life of mah-jongg and luxury shopping. Instead she threw herself into building a culinary empire from her restaurant, Aunty Lee’s Delights, where spicy Singaporean home cooking is graciously served by Rosie Lee herself to locals and tourists alike. But when a body is found in one of Singapore’s beautiful tourist havens, and when one of her wealthy guests fails to show at a dinner party, Aunty Lee knows that the two are likely connected.

The murder and disappearance throws together Aunty Lee’s henpecked stepson Mark, his social-climbing wife Selina, a gay couple whose love is still illegal in Singapore, and an elderly Australian tourist couple whose visit—billed at first as a pleasure cruise—may mask a deeper purpose. Investigating the murder is rookie Police Commissioner Raja, who quickly discovers that the savvy and well-connected Aunty Lee can track down clues even better than local law enforcement.

Wise, witty and unusually charming, Aunty Lee’s Delights is a spicy mystery about love, friendship and home cooking in Singapore, where money flows freely and people of many religions and ethnicities co-exist peacefully, but where tensions lurk just below the surface, sometimes with deadly results.

Weekend Film: The Batman

Nothing beats the craziness of the Gotham TV series but I think The Batman might be a close second at least based on the trailer. As much as I'm interested in seeing this movie, I do wish Batman wasn't always the most overly promoted character. There are so many other DC Comics characters that I don't get why the same characters are constantly focused on. However, with that said, I do plan to see this movie. I hope it'll be good.

The Batman

Starring: Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard and more

Director: Matt Reeves

Writers: Matt Reeves and Peter Craig

Description:

When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.

Trailer for tonight's episodes of Station 19 and Call Me Kat

I'm a little late posting this especially since Station 19 is on now. But I'll be honest, I haven't watched the show since my favorite character Dean Miller died earlier this season. However, the trailer surprised which is why I'm currently watching tonight's episode which looks like an early Halloween episode with a possible haunted house. As for Call Me Kat, this show is so funny. I'm really loving this second season.

Station 19 season 5 episode 10: Searching for the Ghosts                                 8:00 PM EST                                                 ABC

Description:

Travis and Theo face danger while responding to an emergency at a haunted house. Ben continues his fight for Baby Pru and Vic opens up to Andy. Station 19 prepares to welcome patients to the Dean Miller Memorial Clinic.

Trailer: 9-1-1 Season 5 Promo "What Are You Afraid Of?"

There's a new promo for 9-1-1's second half of the fifth season and it looks like Eddie Diaz will finally start taking care of his mental health which was a key issue during the first half of the season. It's good to see the Therapist, Frank back and Eddie is seeing him again because the last time Eddie sought therapy was back in the third season. Side note, I think it would be nice if more characters on this show went to see Frank or another therapist more often because they each have so much trauma that just keeps piling up that they really need help dealing with it.

I'm not that interested in the new characters that have been added on to the show hopefully the writers will still focus on the original main characters and not focus so much attention on random characters. Overall, I'm interested to see the upcoming second half of the fifth season.

Happy 25th Anniversary, Daria!

It's the 25th Anniversary of the Daria animated series which premiered on March 3, 1997 on MTV. The popular show was a spinoff from another popular MTV animated series, Beavis and Butt-Head. Daria is a really funny, witty, interesting and a surprisingly thought-provoking show that centered around the smart, sarcastic, somber and outcast main character high school student Daria Morgendorffer. The show also focused on her family, her best friend and fellow outcast Jane Lane, her school life and the world in general.

I always thought Daria Morgendorffer was the anti-Cher Horowitz. Because where Cher was perky, cool, fashionable and popular, Daria on the other hand was the complete opposite. She was absolutely fine being her cynical and sarcastic self and had no desire to fit in and be one of the popular kids. However, Daria's younger sister Quinn was definitely a Cher wannabe because she was trying her best to be popular, fashionable and cool. Daria feels like a forgotten show, I never see anyone talking about it. I guess I can include myself in that as well because I haven't written anything about it on my blog either. However, I did include it in a list of old TV shows to watch.

If you've never seen this classic series, it's available on DVD and I also believe on several streaming services. So, if you get a chance, check it out. Since I have it on DVD maybe I'll do a re-watch and write more about the show especially since it's a really good series. This show needs more attention and with that said, Happy 25th Anniversary, Daria!

Happy National Reading Month!

Happy March!

I can't believe I forgot to post something yesterday for the start of National Reading Month. Well, I guess around here every month is reading month. But National Reading Month is a great time to focus on reading and it doesn't matter if you're a prolific reader or a casual reader, this month is to celebrate the joy of reading. I feel like there should be no pressure to read, reading should be fun. Some days I don't have as much time to read as I'd like to and on those days I still try to find a little time to read even if it's for five minutes. I love to read, it's fun to let your imagination take over and fully immerse yourself into the story.

Throughout the month I want to check in to see how everyone is celebrating National Reading Month.

Photo: Aisha Hinds and Ryan Guzman

I know I said I don't like to post behind the scenes pictures which is true and that's mainly with pictures and videos that show actual stuff that could potentially be spoilers. However, I don't mind posting pictures like this of the actors having fun behind the scenes. Such as Aisha Hinds and Ryan Guzman doing ridiculous poses behind the scenes of 9-1-1. It takes a lot of confidence to pull off wearing a firefighter costume as well as a baseball hat, hooded sweatshirt, sweat shorts and rubber boots and still look cool. But somehow they do.

Something I think is underrated is the friendship between their characters Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz. Since both Hen and Eddie have separate more prominent friendships with Howard "Chimney" Han and Evan "Buck Buckley respectively, the friendship between the two of them is something also really special but unfortunately I feel it's often overlooked.

Trailer: Morbius

I'll be honest, I kinda forgot Morbius was coming out. But I'm glad I found this trailer which surprisingly looks good. I have to admit it's totally piqued my interest in wanting to see it. Anyone else planning to see this movie?
